I'm sure with CCTV these days you can pick out culprits. Or if any injuries occur then like a previous suggestion get them charged with assault offences.

I'm quite amused/intrigued by the 'without lawful excuse' caveat.
Presumably no criminal charges ensue if I throw the ball back? Or dirty looks/a wobbly/a fit at our latest two-goal concession?
What about if a player throws an object at me missus that has been thrown from the crowd? Am I entitled to retaliate by throwing it back?
