“ You made the incorrect point that women are more likely to be attacked by a stranger just for walking home. ”

I didn’t.

You’re so desperate to argue that you create stuff to argue with.

I haven’t interpreted motives behind the comments.

You said, and I quote...

“We are talking about the level of sexual harassment and violence against women in everyday life. Not gang related. Not drug territory wars. Simply walking home.”

So those levels are less then, yes?

In that scenario you painted in that quoted text. You are saying you realise “the levels” you are talking about was actually acknowledging are far less than if they were male?

Just to clear that up, because to most people reading they would no doubt take that as you insinuating that the levels were higher for a woman. Which isn’t true, is it.

No Lisa, we are not just talking about fearful women and harassment. You don't make the rules, sunshine.

That’s what the thread is about. That’s what the context of the statement in the Lords was about.

If you can’t deal with a thread that’s not about the direct experience of men, that’s your insecurity I’m afraid. It’s really quite shocking how insecure some of you are by the way. Unbelievable to be honest.

Nope.

It’s a female issue here because we are talking about a female issue. We are talking about women being attacked and harassed by men.

There are hundreds of threads talking about male issues.

Start one up if you don’t think any are relevant.

Stop deflecting and actually engage, Lisa. The thread title should help. Despite your heel-dragging and insistence to the contrary, 'we' are talking about men and women victims on this thread.

Are there? Can you point to one?

Again, this thread is regarding the comments to put a curfew on men. Read the title. If you want to make a thread on the false notion that women get attacked more than men then create one, I’ll happily contribute.

I’m starting to make the same conclusion about yourself truth be told.

I have never come across a poster misrepresenting reality then backtracking at breakneck speed while pretending to not know what the discussion is about all to portray a false narrative.

Facts are never insecure.

That’s the sort of comment I find utterly frightening. “Men are the problem”.

No, some men and some women are violent. More men are the victims of this group of people than women. Stating that a man who has been beaten to within an inch of his life is a part of the problem due to his gender is terrifying.

What I mean is a lot of women’s perceptions are that every man is a potential threat. That’s obviously not the case but how are they to know that the person walking behind them is a normal bloke not some pervert ? We need to educate our young boys how to respect women to make them feel safe.

Violence against men from men normally happens in specific situations such as a pub or places where there’s drink involved. Violence against women happens in a much wider context.

I fully aware of violent women and men who are victims of DV, but the conversation is about the increasing attacks on women by men. It’s a massive problem one which decent men (overwhelming majority) must be part of the solution

I'd say you're the one struggling to keep up with this thread. I'm not insecure in looking at facts and sharing them on here. I've highlighted the areas in life where women are more the victims.

You, on the other hand, shut down any conversation about the issues involving men. On a thread discussing the issues of masculinity, the propensity for men to commit more serious crimes than women, and the problem with simply categorising men as 'the problem'.

What can decent people do the counter psychopaths, rapists and murderers? Many of whom are opportunistic and hard to anticipate. We aren't discussing someone being overly flirtatious or a bit inappropriate. If that was the case, I'd certainly shut that down. As I have done, many times in the past. Having a microphone helps in getting ones point across.

Exactly, it’s an incorrect notion. That is caused by hyperbolic statements that misrepresent reality, that’s why comments need to be addressed and why this man hating wave that has swept the west needs to be put in its place.

I’m going to copy and paste your comments here and change gender to race and see if you can see my point....

“We need to educate our black boys how to respect others to make them feel safe.”

I would be horrified if someone stated that. Why isn’t there the same reaction when gender is made so sweeping?

Again. I was not comparing the two.

As I said a few times, the thread was about the experience of women and the reaction of society to those experiences.

You wanted to discuss violence against men. We weren’t talking about that. You invented something I didn’t say and then will continue to argue against it until the cows come home because you don’t want to talk about the subject that was being discussed and instead want to troll the thread as you almost invariably do. I find that tedious. So carry on.

I didn’t, and it isn’t. The thread can’t be changed to whatever you like. Read the title, it’s about the comments made towards men by the Baroness.

You said that men get attacked in gang crime and such like where we are talking about “the levels of violence against women simply walking home”.

That is a clear inferring that women are the victim of violence in that situation more than men. That isn’t even close to being true. My point is discussing the violence we have against “people”. I’m not discriminatory to think one gender is more important than the other.

That fact that men are attacked at random by many many times, is a fact you now realise hence you are backtracking at break neck speed pretending that it wasn’t the point you were making.

Admit you were wrong. It’s ok.

Levels? Sigh. Given you won’t stop.

I said “ We are talking about the level of sexual harassment and violence against women in everyday life.”

I wasn’t comparing men against women, but if you insist on doing so, yes, the level of sexual harassment and violence against women is far, far higher than it is against men. Far higher. Different level completely.

“ the levels of violence against women simply walking home”.

You left out the word ‘sexual’ which was quite clear. I said ‘sexual harassment and violence’. Read it again if you’re not sure.

Are you deliberately changing what was said because you misread it, or are you incapable of reading what’s been said and just make an assumption? I ask because you do it so frequently.

You are still wrong.

Violence encompasses all violence including sexual violence. Men are still far more likely to be attacked at random walking home at night.

If you want to isolate that to sexually assaulted then you would be right. But that isn’t what you said and isn’t what the discussion is about.

The levels of sexual and violent assault against women walking home, is far less than against men. Those are the facts.

Harassment is hard to gauge as you well know. Harassment against one gender is seen as fine where as the same the other way is abhorrent. I can’t count the amount of times me and my friends have been groped on a night out. I used to find it really annoying as it goes.

It’s not a case of dismissing facts. It’s a case of me discussing sexual harassment and violence against women and you wanting to discuss men instead.

If you were discussing something and I changed the subject I wouldn’t be haranguing you if you didn’t want to discuss the new subject. And pretending that meant you were being unconstructive.

Difference between some men and women again I guess. You like it when it’s on your terms only and demand women fit in with that.

You defended many men Sirjonalot accused of such assaults.

Were they found not guilty.

Your job is to defend men, evil or not,to the best of your ability.

Then ,to plead mitigation and less of a sentence .

Many many dangerous men have been found guilty who you know would have been guilty as hell.l

You also know of violent manipulative women who,if found guilty, will get far fewer years inside..

It is remarkable to read your comments and I hope your mistrust of men and them being the problem does not affect a clients fair trial.

Not instead of no. That’s your insecurity coming into play where you are only comfortable when you are discussing your gender.

Discuss the whole issue is the goal here and not single out gender as we are then ignoring a large majority of the victims and a large part of the issue at hand.

This is a violence problem not a gender one.
