Room 101 09:12 - Jun 23 with 11133 viewscolinallcars

Not a great fan of the TV programme of that name, but there are things that really irritate me and should be consigned to Room 101. My pet hate is people who blow their noses on serviettes in a restaurant and leave it on the table. I witness this all the time.

I have been walking a lot lately in an effort to contain middle age spread (25 lbs down so far since you ask) and I have been really shocked at how cyclists treat pedestrians. It is usually Lycra clad middle aged men rather than other cyclists but the behaviour is regularly very poor. Stopping on crossings blocking pedestrians path, cycling over to the pavement and then across the crossing in green man time without regard to the - often elderly -pedestrians.

I know motorists often are dicks to cyclists but is there some rule that you had to sh:t on the realm of existence you consider to be one rung below you? I am in favour of more cycling for a host of reasons but the cycling community really need to address and self police this behaviour.

I think a lot of cyclists are intentionally goading motorists now, weaving all over the road, turning suddenly without signalling, always with helmet cams. On Sundays I often sit behind 20 or so, two or three abreast, all in a line so there’s no gaps to overtake, it’s like trying to get past a double-decker bus down a country lane. Odd as I assume a lot of them are motorists as well.

Ninety percent of the time i'm on my motorbike and i always spend my time shaking my head at the selfish and idiotic car drivers slowing me down and blocking me.

Then i drive the car and spend my time shaking my head at the idiot bike riders nipping here there and everywhere trying to get themselves killed.

What i've learned is i always think it's the other lot's fault, not mine. But of course it's bound to be half and half. Bottom line in England, the traffic is too busy and the lanes are too small. There simply isn't room for both. But any man wearing Lycra in public who isn't a legitimate hope in the Tour should be soundly beaten before being put in room 101 anyway.

People who end a sentence with "Do you know what I mean?". Actually I don't and finishing off with that phrase didn't make it any clearer.

ITVBe - first channel deleted whenever I re-tune the TVs. Real housewives of wherever in particular need pistol whipping.

Cyclists jumping red lights. A dark side to me privately hopes they get run over. I know, I know but I can't help it!

Drivers in the first lane who won't let another driver enter the motorway from the slip road, often accelerating to claim their territory.

Brexit - amazed no one has mentioned it. Enough already!

Another vote for litter. Once I noticed a pile of identical pizza boxes building up at the foot of the tree outside my house. I was puzzled until one day I saw a rather portly young man devouring a large pizza as he walked up the street before adding a box to the pile. I followed him with the entire set and to my disbelief I found that he literally lived around the corner. As he walked towards his front door I said politely "Excuse me sir, I believe you lost these" before dropping the entire pile on his driveway. I never saw another box under that tree again.

Also witnessed a neighbour dump his old mattress by a nearby public bin (like the bin men will ever take it) and pull a new one out of his van. The following 3 nights were cat and mouse as I moved said mattress on to his driveway before finding it back alongside the public bin the following morning. The madness only stopped when he awoke to find the offending mattress taped to the top of his van.

+1 also for mobile phone music on the tube. Years back I used to commute to Tower Bridge. Every morning District Line commuters were treated to Wayne and Waynetta's selection of hardcore acid house at full volume until one man had the "temerity" to ask that they invest in a set of headphones. An argument ensued resulting in said mobile phone being crushed under his shoe to a loud cheer from fellow commuters.

All of that. Superb.

Sadly since Barnet council started charging three figures for a mattress collection my borough's parks, greenways and allotments have become festooned with abandoned ones. I mean the council have made a rod for their own back but surely if you can drag the bloody thing into the woods you can take it to the tip in East Finchley.

Crazy policy. Unfortunately a lot of recycling centres charge even small vans to enter so unless you can squeeze said mattress into your car you're buggered.

Whilst we're on the subject can I also add the term "recycling centre" to Room 101? It always was the council tip and remains so in my vocabulary.

I can't believe I even used the term unwittingly. I'm off to wash my mouth with soap.

Yet here in Newham one of the poorest boroughs in London you get three large items collected free per year, still doesn’t stop loads of stuff being dumped in the streets though.

Add the rush to get off an aircraft that has barely landed and still has the doors shut. Apart from that, holidays are good.

On a related theme, those people who insist on standing right in front of the doors of, or even trying to board, a tube or train whilst people are trying to get off. How much fkg intelligence does it take to realise that you'll get away quicker if you let me off?? I call those responsible's attention to this all the time and then get a hostile stare - as if I'm the bad guy. There is truly no hope for humanity.

Never mind cyclists on the road, it's cycling on the pavement that does my nut in. Happens all he time around here. Usually males, late teens - late 20s, often bombing along with no regard for pedestrians whatsoever. I've had a few altercations over this. I'm thinking of carrying something that I can sling between their spokes. Might make them think.

I'm fat as fck, and have recently taken to cycling to my rural station and then in London to counter the upcoming Carlsberg and Balti Pie season and can confirm that some cyclists are knobs. However, the majority do the right thing.

Yes definitely unpleasant but it's mainly due to overcrowding at Ealing Broadway. At Wood Lane it's purely down to ignorance, bad manners and a bad upbringing I'd say

Would add in people texting whilst walking down the road. Nearly run into a few of those on morning jogs.

Vegans- I am all for a healthy lifestyle and have cut down my meat consumption but hate being preached what I should or shout not eat..

Football matches on a Friday night- as it ruins my whole weekend when the r's lose rather than Saturday evenings onwards from a 3 p.m kickoff. Maybe the r's should play at La Liga time on a Sunday night to avoid weekend disappointment though .

A town in the Netherlands has painted yellow lines on all its pavements to combat a spike in the number of people injured crossing roads whilst using mobile phones. The theory is that when they step off the pavement their peripheral vision will note the disappearance of the yellow line and they will realise that they've stepped out into the road.

Clever stuff but for pete's sake can't people just use their phones a little less and pay more attention to their surroundings?

I don't get this.

So many posts about cyclists, but surely, if we're lambasting cyclists, it's the lycra that is the biggest offence by a million miles? I'm quite convinced these people are weirdos who want to walk around with their cock out and this is as good a chance as they can do without being arrested. No thought to how many people are traumatised on a daily basis or at the very least put off their food by such hideous apparitions. Should be illegal.

Inexcusable*. One feels the need to dress as a gimp, they shouldn't need to be told to do it in private.

* Competing cyclists excused.

Agreed hence they were thrown into Room 101 very early on in this thread. Not only are male cyclists in Lycra visually impairing but they suddenly believe they're in the Tour de Ruislip/Acton/Newham/Barnet/* insert your town here. No other sports kit comes close to generating such delusion.

Thank goodness. Talk about fkw.

It's the strut they use off the bike as well. Like they feel magnificent and the world is in awe of them, but i can't think of anything more gross than middle aged white men in skin tight gear. I'd need to be paid a bloody fortune to walk around like that, and i could pull it off as well. No pun intended.

In fact, wtf are men doing in tights nowadays as well? Always blokes in my gym wearing tights now. Fcuking ridiculous. Fcuking Nike have got a lot to answer for with their rancid sh!t. To think, i'm not allowed to train with my shirt off, but some hideous looking geezer is ok to train with his dick out. Pisses me off. Then the fcukers go into a coffee shop wearing their gym gear. Wtf? I actually westerners in my coffee shop with no shirts on. Many times. I've stopped saying, because around here they're always 'fighters' and i end up in a bloody row every time. Thailand is a buddhist country. You can't go around with no shirt. Who goes into a coffee shop in england with no shirt ffs? Females are the worst. Any excuse to flaunt extremely skin tight gear in public, which is of course terribly rude over here. Especially where i am, it's a Muslim area for crying out loud. They never, ever change out of tight clothing after training or train without very tight clothing. I can't believe people don't realise how inappropriate it is here, they must just be so ignorant and arrogant they just don't care. The 'fighters' (lmao) who come to train here and insist on wearing their Muay Thai shorts and Muay Thai shirt everywhere as well...not cool. It's very naff in Thailand to go around wearing Muay Thai shorts unless you're training. Showing your insecurities and marking yourself down as a pratt to boot. Better than a bloke in tights mind you.

Steroids and internet porn.

I've never taken steroids even once, but if you want to compete at a high level in most sports, you're basically obliged to do so. A real shame for all of the honest, natural athletes. Porn, so much of it is terrible, should be illegal half of it. Turning the world into perverts.

Also, controversial i'm sure, silicon tits. Ok, on certain occasions perhaps, but not just as a normal occurrence. Can't believe people find that attractive. I'd be fcuking mortified if my daughter felt the need to do something so appalling. If i was a lass, let me tell you now you could literally go fcuk yourself if you thought i was doing that. And girls who've had a boob job normally alter their whole attitude and appearance. Always wearing vests and sh!t. They seem to think all men love them for having a big pair of plastic tits. How vain can somebody be? Not for me, that's for sure.

All noticeable plastic surgery is very off-putting to me personally. People like Sly Stallone should be locked up for insanity and it disgusts me to see the agenda being so heavily pushed that this sh!t is normal, even desirable. Some of the slightly older female actresses in particular i could mention genuinely look like bloody Aliens to me and i find it deeply disturbing and sickening they (those sick Hollywood freaks) encourage children to aspire to look like this. They shouldn't be put on TV like that, it's a diabolical example to set. To think, they used to treat Micheal Jackson like some sort of a God over there. I just wouldn't be able to look seriously at somebody like Stallone if i met him, i'd have to laugh, just wouldn't be able to keep a straight face or stop my head from shaking.

He's explaining how Usain Bolt and the entire Jamaican team are doping.

May I also add "Alexa"to Room 101?

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?
