Summer Transfer Rumours 11:30 - May 13 with 5056 viewsBringBackTheRedRoom

Here's the latest news and transfer rumours in League One and League Two on Monday, May 13, 2019.

Sunderland are one of several League One clubs with an interest in AFC Wimbledon defender Deji Oshilaja, according to reports.

HITC Sport claim that Jack Ross is keen on a move for the 25-year-old, who is set to become a free agent this summer.

It is believed claims the Black Cats, Barnsley and Fleetwood Town are all lining-up a move for Oshilaja once his contract expires.

Oshilaja made 32 appearances for the Dons last season, and has also spent time on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and Gillingham.

Bristol City are preparing a £2million swoop for Barnsley top goalscorer Kieffer Moore, The Sun understands.

Lee Johnson's side were linked with the striker in January after Moore appeared to be in red hot form before he was ruled out for the rest of the season in February.

The 26-year-old is poised to return ahead of next season's Championship campaign, though the Robins are said to have set their sights on making another move.

Moore could follow star defender Liam Lindsay out the exit door this summer as Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino reportedly wants to bring him to Brescia this summer.

Portsmouth and Blackpool are the latest clubs to be linked with Plymouth Argyle defender Ryan Edwards.

The 25-year-old confirmed he will leave Home Park this summer, prompting interest from a number of League One teams.

Last week saw Doncaster, Fleetwood, Peterborough, Bristol Rovers and Bradford City credited with interest but The Sun believes Blackpool are also keen while Pompey are "a maybe".

The Pilgrims are on the hunt for a new manager and are understood to have held talks with Bury boss Ryan Lowe, reports on the South Coast say.

Bradford City manager Gary Bowyer has revealed he is keeping tabs on free agent Mark Cullen.

The striker was released from Blackpool last week after five years at Bloomfield Road and worked with Bowyer between 2016-2018.

Bowyer told the Telegraph and Argus: “He’s somebody I know and scored the winner for us at Wembley to clinch promotion.

“Cully is always going to have a special place in my heart because of what he did that season and that particular day.

“The poor lad has had a terrible time with injuries but that’s one that we’d certainly monitor.”

Peterborough United are plotting a move for Bolton Wanderers free agent Mark Beevers, as per The Sun.

Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony said last week the club were on the brink of signing a Championship defender who has won promotion from League One.

Beevers fits that blueprint having did it with Sheffield Wednesday and Bolton as well as holding further third-tier experience with Millwall.

MacAnthony, however, did rule out a reunion with Paul Coutts and George Boyd following their release from Sheffield United and Wednesday, respectively.

In League Two, MK Dons are keen on NAC Breda left-back Greg Leigh, The Sun understands.

Leigh, a former youth product of Manchester City, moved the Netherlands' top-flight on a three-year-deal last summer.

However, following Breda's relegation countered by MK's promotion, Leigh has been touted with a return to England.

The 24-year-old has already had spells at Crewe Alexandra, Bradford City and Bury.

Port Vale starlet Luke Daley is set to complete a move to Huddersfield after knocking back offers form Liverpool and Southampton.

Vale will be entitled to a compensation fee after Daley, 16, was on the club's books for eight years.

Vale's academy manager Sevvy Aslam told StokeOnTrentLive: "We had interest from Huddersfield and while that was going on, we had interest from Southampton and Liverpool.

"He has decided to stick with Huddersfield. He is a lovely lad and we are sad to see him go."

Luton Town very keen to sign former Arsenal, Notts County and Bristol Rovers full-back from Blackpool

Luton Town are very keen to sign former Arsenal, Notts County and Bristol Rovers full-back Marc Bola from Blackpool, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Championship side Luton Town are trying to sign former Arsenal, Notts County and Bristol Rovers full-back Marc Bola from League One side Blackpool.

Alan Nixon tweeted: “LUTON. Won’t leave Marc Bola alone. BLACKPOOL may offer contract and if refused then looks like a sale.”

Last season, the full-back made 35 appearances for Blackpool and he netted twice. His performances have certainly caught the eye of the winners of League One, Luton Town.

Marc Bola began his career at Premiership side Arsenal, he joined aged 13. Whilst at Arsenal, he enjoyed a few loan spell in the Football League.

Bola’s first loan spell was at the County Ground with Notts County, he managed to make 13 appearances for the club.

Two seasons ago, the 21-year-old spent time on loan at Bristol Rovers and he featured 23 times for them.

When Marc Bola joined Blackpool, current Bradford City manager Gary Bowyer described the defender and rates him very highly as he told Blackpool’s club website:

“Marc is a very athletic player with a strong football background from his time at Arsenal. He played against us for Bristol Rovers last season and he fits the model of our recruitment. He’s young, hungry, determined to impress and will provide good competition in the defensive line.”

This summer, Luton Town have already announce one signing which is winger Callum McManaman from Wigan, a player that Luton Town manager Graeme Jones knows well.

Blackpool join Swindon Town in the race to sign Bradford City striker

Blackpool have joined Swindon Town in the race to sign Bradford City striker Eoin Doyle, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

League One side Blackpool have entered the race with League Two side Swindon Town to sign Bradford City striker Eoin Doyle.

Alan Nixon tweeted: “BLACKPOOL. Trying for Eoin Doyle along with SWINDON.”

Eoin Doyle is a proven goalscorer in League One, as he showed two seasons ago with Oldham Athletic where he scored 16 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions. To add to this, the Irishman scored 25 goals in 33 appearances for Chesterfield during the 2014/15 season.

Swindon Town manager Richie Wellens work with Eoin Doyle at Oldham Athletic, but Terry McPhillips can offer the striker League One football.

About Eoin Doyle —

Doyle started his career in Ireland with spells at Shellbourne, Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers and in 2011 he made the move to Hibernian where he netted 11 goals in a two-year spell.

Chesterfield secured the signing of Doyle in 2013 and he helped them to the League Two title in his debut season and finished the club’s top goalscorer.

The following season, Doyle’s impressive start with Chesterfield, scoring 25 goals, earned him a move to Championship side Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee.

Following five goals in 16 games, Doyle joined Preston North End on loan before making his transfer permanent at the start of the 2016/17 season. Doyle has made 39 appearances for Preston North End but only scored 5 goals for The Lilywhites. He was loaned out to League Two side Portsmouth until the end of the season.

Blackpool in battle to hang on to key duo; also looking at 31-year-old

Blackpool face a battle to keep two of their current stars as vultures circle Bloomfield Road.

Alan Nixon of the Sun reports that both Marc Bola and Curtis Tilt are the subjects of interest from other clubs. Luton Town, champions of League One last season, are the side hoping to lure Bola away from the north-west.

he 21-year-old full back only joined them last summer after being released by Arsenal, but he made 43 senior appearances in all competitions last season, maturing as a player and catching the eye of Luton’s scouts.

As for Tilt, Portsmouth are thought to be eyeing him after losing Matt Clarke to Brighton. The Walsall-born 27-year-old only has two seasons of Football League experience, but has become a key part of the Blackpool defence since his switch from Wrexham.

The issue for Pompey is both cost and personal terms, as Tilt is highly-sought after and wouldn’t be allowed to leave on the cheap.

There is some positive news for Tangerines’ fans though; they’re in the hunt for striker Eoin Doyle, again via Nixon.

The 31-year-old scored ten goals for Bradford last season as they were relegated from League One, but is now available as a free agent.
Our View

Ins and outs; the lifeblood of the pre-season. Every fan is hoping to see his club linked with players, but having Doyle on the radar would not cover the loss of Bola, Tilt or Both.

If Pompey and Luton were successful, it would leave a huge hole for Terry McPhillips to fill before the season began. Bola grew in confidence and benefitted from a full season of senior football, whilst Tilt has always been a behemoth for them.

He’s big, strong and reads the game well. There are few other defenders at League One level with his skill set and that would make him very hard to replace.

Insider: Portsmouth target Curtis Tilt is Blackpool's best player who makes defending look easy

Blackpool Gazette reporter Matt Scrafton gives us the lowdown on Pompey target Curtis Tilt.

Curtis Tilt is probably regarded as the best player at Blackpool.

Last season he wasn’t quite as good as he was the season before. That’s not to say he wasn’t good, though, because he definitely was. He was definitely up there with the best performers still.

If you’re an outsider thinking about Blackpool’s squad, I guess you’d look at Curtis Tilt and Jay Spearing. They’re the two who spring to mind as the standout players.

We ran a player-of-the-year vote at the Blackpool Gazette at the end of the season and Tilt finished third or fourth. But when I counted up my average player ratings for the season he was first.

That was a little surprising to me because, although he didn’t have a poor season by an stretch, he maybe didn’t quite hit the levels of his first season here.

Curtis is a very, very good defender, though, and when you watch him in League One it’s hard to believe he’d spent his career before coming here in non-league football. It’s a surprise he wasn’t spotted by teams in the west midlands area beforehand.

He was actually spotted by Gary Bowyer’s dad, Ian, at Wrexham. He’d obviously worked under Brian Clough at Nottingham Forest and Gary said if someone with his background rated a player that was good enough for him.

Curtis is a very confident centre-back who brings the ball out.

It may be hypercritical but perhaps a slight criticism is he got over-confident doing that at times. If you get caught out it can lead to high-profile gaffes, but he is a very silky defender.

It comes to Curtis very easily and it’s almost felt he’s playing up to the scouts at times! But he looks good doing it and if you can then why not?

He’s capable of creating space coming forward but can do all the basics of defending as well.

Blackpool did a video of Curtis last season and it was mostly him bringing the ball out and beating players. It looks impressive. If it goes wrong it can look silly, but I don’t think he’s the type of player to stop it.

He is a goal threat, too, and he scored an overhead-kick last season in the 94th minute against Plymouth. How many defenders do you see do that? That sums up Curtis really.

The interest from Ipswich last year became dragged out. It became silly but probably summed up (former owner) Owen Oyston.

The contracts and signings were previously dealt with by the manager and the chief exec, but he got involved and everyone became fed up by the end of it.

There was no gossip, bids or anything to report in January, however. Now we’ll see what happens.

Cullen has signed for Port Vale on a one year deal.

A one year deal for the club is good as they won't have to carry him if his injury problems continue, yet, at conference level, he should score enough goals to give them a big shout in a promotion push.
