Summer Transfer Rumours 11:30 - May 13 with 5055 viewsBringBackTheRedRoom

https://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/sport/football/blackpool-fc/league-one-and-tw

Here's the latest news and transfer rumours in League One and League Two on Monday, May 13, 2019.

Sunderland are one of several League One clubs with an interest in AFC Wimbledon defender Deji Oshilaja, according to reports.

HITC Sport claim that Jack Ross is keen on a move for the 25-year-old, who is set to become a free agent this summer.

It is believed claims the Black Cats, Barnsley and Fleetwood Town are all lining-up a move for Oshilaja once his contract expires.

Oshilaja made 32 appearances for the Dons last season, and has also spent time on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and Gillingham.

Bristol City are preparing a £2million swoop for Barnsley top goalscorer Kieffer Moore, The Sun understands.

Lee Johnson's side were linked with the striker in January after Moore appeared to be in red hot form before he was ruled out for the rest of the season in February.

The 26-year-old is poised to return ahead of next season's Championship campaign, though the Robins are said to have set their sights on making another move.

Moore could follow star defender Liam Lindsay out the exit door this summer as Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino reportedly wants to bring him to Brescia this summer.

Portsmouth and Blackpool are the latest clubs to be linked with Plymouth Argyle defender Ryan Edwards.

The 25-year-old confirmed he will leave Home Park this summer, prompting interest from a number of League One teams.

Last week saw Doncaster, Fleetwood, Peterborough, Bristol Rovers and Bradford City credited with interest but The Sun believes Blackpool are also keen while Pompey are "a maybe".

The Pilgrims are on the hunt for a new manager and are understood to have held talks with Bury boss Ryan Lowe, reports on the South Coast say.

Bradford City manager Gary Bowyer has revealed he is keeping tabs on free agent Mark Cullen.

The striker was released from Blackpool last week after five years at Bloomfield Road and worked with Bowyer between 2016-2018.

Bowyer told the Telegraph and Argus: “He’s somebody I know and scored the winner for us at Wembley to clinch promotion.

“Cully is always going to have a special place in my heart because of what he did that season and that particular day.

“The poor lad has had a terrible time with injuries but that’s one that we’d certainly monitor.”

Peterborough United are plotting a move for Bolton Wanderers free agent Mark Beevers, as per The Sun.

Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony said last week the club were on the brink of signing a Championship defender who has won promotion from League One.

Beevers fits that blueprint having did it with Sheffield Wednesday and Bolton as well as holding further third-tier experience with Millwall.

MacAnthony, however, did rule out a reunion with Paul Coutts and George Boyd following their release from Sheffield United and Wednesday, respectively.

In League Two, MK Dons are keen on NAC Breda left-back Greg Leigh, The Sun understands.

Leigh, a former youth product of Manchester City, moved the Netherlands' top-flight on a three-year-deal last summer.

However, following Breda's relegation countered by MK's promotion, Leigh has been touted with a return to England.

The 24-year-old has already had spells at Crewe Alexandra, Bradford City and Bury.

Port Vale starlet Luke Daley is set to complete a move to Huddersfield after knocking back offers form Liverpool and Southampton.

Vale will be entitled to a compensation fee after Daley, 16, was on the club's books for eight years.

Vale's academy manager Sevvy Aslam told StokeOnTrentLive: "We had interest from Huddersfield and while that was going on, we had interest from Southampton and Liverpool.

"He has decided to stick with Huddersfield. He is a lovely lad and we are sad to see him go."

Blackpool and Plymouth Argyle register interest in signing 11-goal midfielder

Jamie Devitt is attracting interest from both Plymouth Argyle and Blackpool as they join Swindon Town in the race to sign the midfielder according to reliable journalist, Alan Nixon.

It had been reported by Nixon that Swindon were interested in signing Devitt, who was one of Carlisle’s standout players last season in League Two.

It’s clear to see why Devitt is a player in demand, as he netted 11 league goals for the League Two side in last year’s campaign, and he’ll be keen to build on those impressive showings.

Blackpool’s reported interest will be intriguing to hear as Devitt will surely be tempted by the prospect of playing in League One next season.

He’s got an eye for goal and is certainly capable of making the step up to the third tier of English football, and it seems as though Carlisle are fighting a losing battle to retain his services heading into the summer.

The News and Star have also recently reported that Devitt has turned down a new contract with Carlisle, which could have been their last chance to convince him to stay.

His current deal with the League Two side expires at the end of June, and it’s looking increasingly likely that he will be heading for the exit door.

The Verdict:

He’s a player in demand.

I’ll admit that I’ve not seen a lot of Devitt from last season, but he’s clearly a player that has something about him if he’s wanted by a trio of clubs.

An interesting summer awaits and I’d be surprised if he stayed with Carlisle.

Luton are after Bola.

Others are sniffing round Tilt.

All well and good.

If we can get a good fee that will advance us in other areas.

Good business brains are needed.

Luton Town want to kick-start summer recruitment by landing League One defender

Luton Town want to sign Blackpool defender Marc Bola.

The Hatters have been rebuffed in their first attempts to land the 21-year-old but are expected to go back in again, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

Graeme Jones is likely to be a busy man this summer as he looks to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad. Luton are in the hunt for some reinforcements to their squad as they prepare for the Championship next season.

They are set to lose key full-back James Justin to Premier League side Leicester City so may see Bola as a potential replacement.

Bola, who was born in London, impressed for Blackpool in League One last season and played 43 times in all competitions. He still has a year left to run on his contract at Bloomfield Road.

The young left-back joined the Arsenal academy at the age of 13 and rose up through the youth ranks with the Gunners. He has never made a senior appearance for the London club but has gained plenty of first-team experience out on loan.

Bola spent the second-half of the 2016/17 season on loan in League Two at Notts County before spending the 2017/18 campaign in the third tier with Bristol Rovers.

He was released by Arsenal last year and subsequently joined Blackpool on a free transfer. The move to the Seasiders has paid off for Bola and he could now be on his way to the Championship with Luton.

Blackpool leading Plymouth Argyle and Swindon Town in race for League Two star

Blackpool are leading the race for Carlisle United midfielder Jamie Devitt on a free transfer.

The Tangerines are hoping to beat Plymouth Argyle and Swindon Town to the signing of the 28-year-old, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

Terry McPhillips’ side are keen on bolstering their squad ahead of another season in League One. They have already signed Adi Yussuff and Ryan Edwards from Solihull Moors and Plymouth respectively so far this summer.

Devitt impressed for Carlisle in League Two in the last campaign. He scored 12 goals in all competitions and also chipped in with eight assists. He joined the Cumbrians in 2016 and just finished his third season at the club.

The midfielder started his career at Hull City and rose through the youth ranks at the East Yorkshire club. He made his first-team debut for the Tigers in a Championship fixture against Swansea City in August 2010.

Devitt went onto make 18 more appearances for Hull. He spent a lot of time out on loan from the KCOM Stadium with the likes of Darlington, Shrewsbury Town, Grimsby Town, Bradford City, Accrington Stanley and Rotherham where he gained plenty of first-team experience.Devitt joined Morecambe on a permanent deal in 2014 and did well for the Shrimpers in his two years there before moving to Carlisle. He is now ready for the next chapter of his career.

Blackpool leading Plymouth in race to sign 12-goal playmaker

Sky Bet League One side Blackpool are leading the race to sign former Carlisle United midfielder Jamie Devitt on a free transfer, according to reputable journalist Alan Nixon.

The 28-year-old currently finds himself without a club following the expiry of his contract at Brunton Park, where he played over 120 times since joining from Morecambe in 2016.

The Irishman scored 12 goals and produced seven assists for the Cumbrians last season, but a return to the North West could now be on the cards for the attacking midfielder.

According to Nixon, Blackpool are beating Plymouth Argyle and Swindon Town in the race to sign Devitt, who is now available to sign on a free transfer.

Blackpool have already been quite active in the summer transfer window, signing Ryan Edwards and Adi Yussuf from Plymouth and Blackpool respectively, and could now be set to complete another signing ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Plymouth will be hoping to add a creative midfielder to their ranks following the departure of Graham Carey to CSKA Sofia, but this report suggests that the Tangerines are favourites to land Devitt.

The Verdict

Devitt would be a very good signing for anyone on a free transfer this summer, and Blackpool definitely need that type of player in their squad.

He loves to get on the ball and create chances for his teammates, as well as getting the scoresheet himself.

He’s entering his prime years, and he has proven that he is more than capable of making the step-up to League One next season having been a standout performer in League Two.

Luton Town eyeing up 21-y/o as potential Justin replacement

Sky Bet Championship side Luton Town are interested in signing Blackpool defender Marc Bola this summer, according to reputable journalist Alan Nixon.

The Hatters are preparing for life without regular left-back James Justin, with the defender reportedly closing in on a move to Premier League side Leicester City for a reported fee of £12million.

And, if the homegrown star is to leave for the King Power Stadium, then Graeme Jones’ side will look to lure Marc Bola away from Blackpool.

The former Arsenal youngster, who enjoyed an impressive loan spell with Notts County in 2016/17, has gone on to become a real success since his permanent move to Bloomfield Road.

The left-back was named as the Fans’ Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season last term, putting in a string of impressive performances for the Tangerines.

It is claimed that Luton have already had an approach turned down for Bola’s services, but the Hatters will look to make another bid to sign the exciting full-back this summer.

Bola only has one year remaining on his current deal at Bloomfield Road, therefore it remains to be seen whether Blackpool cash in this summer rather than letting him leave potentially for free next season.

Luton have already signed Callum McManaman on a free transfer this summer, as the Bedfordshire club look to cement their place in the Championship next season.

The Verdict

Bola is a very exciting, young full-back who has really proven himself in League One.

He is very skilful and loves to attack, but is also very comfortable when defending, making him the perfect replacement for Justin.

Their summer transfer business has been very impressive so far, and this signing would be another shrewd addition.

Blackpool set to make second new signing since takeover

lackpool are set to make their second new signing since last week’s takeover according to journalist Alan Nixon.

On Friday the Seasiders announced the capture of former Plymouth Argyle defender Ryan Edwards on a two-year deal and according to the journalist, the tangerine scarf will soon be making an appearance at Bloomfield Road, held aloft by another new player.

Blackpool have been strongly linked by the same source for a move for Jamie Devitt who the Cumbrians recently announced would not be signing a new deal to stay at Brunton Park.

In a tweet over the weekend Nixon claimed Blackpool were leading the race to sign the midfielder, fending off competition from Plymouth Argyle and Swindon Town.

The Irishman scored twelve League Two goals and contributed seven assists for the Cumbrians last season and is now available on a free transfer.

Striker Adi Yusseff signed for Blackpool before the announcement of the recent takeover by lifelong fan Simon Sadler.

Our View

Devitt would be a good signing, but we will have to wait and see.

Nixon was correct on Ryan Edwards, so it seems likely, but you never know.

One thing is for sure; the future is already looking brighter for the Tangerines.

Blackpool block Championship interest in defender

Blackpool have blocked a move by Championship club Luton Town for defender Marc Bola.

But according to a tweet by Journalist Alan Nixon, the Hatters have not given up hope of signing the defender and are likely to revisit the deal.

Bola played forty-three times for the Seasiders last season and has a year left on his contract after signing on a free transfer last summer following his release by Arsenal.

The twenty-one-year-old had been at the Gunner’s since the age of thirteen and spent the 2017/18 season on loan at Bristol Rovers making eighteen League One outings for the Gas. Previously he also enjoyed a temporary stay at Notts County making thirteen appearances for the Pies in the second half of the 2016/17 campaign.

Luton are thought to be on the lookout for a replacement for influential full-back James Justin, who has been the subject of much summer transfer speculation linking him with a move away from Kenilworth Road.

Our View

Blackpool will want Bola to stay and enjoy the exciting new era that beckons for the club following the recent takeover by lifelong fan Simon Sadler.

Some fans feel he was arguably the Seasiders best player last season.

But the offer of Championship football and better terms might be too much for the ambitious player to resist and if the player wants to go, it is unlikely the club will stand in his way.

Like Edwards, I don't know if he's any good or not.

The info I've read on him could be interpreted positively.

On the net I saw that he's an attacking mid who creates chances and scores goals, which we need.

28 years old so starting his best years.

We beat other clubs to his signature.

Carlisle offered him a new contract.

As with Edwards. Let's hope it's a policy of picking off the better players from relegated teams or teams in the division below us.

Also, going off his stats, he seems to be a late developer.

He was at Hull. They kept him for a long time and sent him out on loan a number of times. They released him when they got to the prem and only then, at the age of about 24, did he start to settle.

He lacked stability and continuity early on and may be coming in to his own now.

That's what I'm hoping for.

I'd like to add that the club has just taken up the options o the contracts of both Tilt and Bola.

Meaning that if we keep the, we risk losing them for nothing at the end of next season.

Dilemma.
