Staff issued with redundancy letters 18:53 - Mar 21 with 35886 viewsJackbustard

Worrying news this evening that all staff at club issued with redundancy notices today.

Anyone else heard this.

I’m sure Jasper can help with this one...

I don't remember how the warning letter I received before I was made redundant was addressed, but maybe seeing "employee" is less immediately alarming than having your name up there in black and white.

Who signed off the redundancy letters. I assume there was a signature on the other side of the letter?

And why is it addressed "Dear Employee" - surely they could have written letters on a more personal level to each individual.

Probably couldn't be assed to make it a personal letter.
It's a typical bosses dirty tricks letter. Put the sh!ts up everybody then you will say nothing when you see some other poor sod get the boot.
That paves the way for cuts in terms and conditions as 'it's only temporary to get us over a bad patch' and 'you should be grateful you have a job'.

Yeah right, every fan knows that we specifically need 16 managers at commercial level and 4 multi media officers.

Neither did I, but instead of making up s**t I looked for the information.

Does it really matter how a redundancy notice is written

If it was written as DearJohn oe Dear Employee. The same end result will happen

It’s not a nice time for everyone in a buisness of any kind and what I have seen. The quicker it’s over the better and everyone can move on including the people that’s been made redundant

The part to worry about, is this letter was sent to everyone other than the first team players, the manager and his coaching staff

Which means only one thing

The debt is not as small as some posters think it is

These redundancies have very little to do with the "so called debt" they are a result of the fact the income of the club has plummetted since relegation.

It is about cutting the costs to a manageable level in line with the income...so as not to incur debt....or worse run out of cash!

Are you living in the real world

You must be the only one that thinks that Swansea are not in debt

Why do you thing the end of year finacial Sheet hasn’t been published yet whereas the last two were published on the 28th February and the 4th of March respectively

The redundunancies will not cancel out any exisitng debt,so delaying the publishihg of the financials will not be any benefit to "hide" the debt

If there is a debt.....potentially this can be so but what level of debt we do not know and who that debt is owed

I've never seen a general letter about possible / probable redundancies headed with a personal name unless it was within a very small group and the redundancy has been specifically identified.
Dear Employee is standard and acceptable to employers and unions.

You are right

There’s been two redundancies in the place where I worked and as you say the notices were headed as Dear Employee

But as I said. It’s bad news for the ones receiving that letter and then made redundant. But the quicker it’s completed the better it is for everyone

The odd thing is in the letter they ask for anyone interested in taking a voluntary redundancy to step forward.
However it is not like a large group of workers all with roughky the same set of skills that some can say they'll give their jobs up.
The employees affected have a lot of different positions and skill sets.
So until the employer gets down to specifics it is a worrying time for all concerned

Disagree, in dim and distant past as a perm, had similar. Some of us with niche skills were offered voluntary redundancy - if others were and we weren't, would have had us as unhappy employees.

All of us with niche skills left knowing we could make more elsewhere / were able to create businesses of our own.

It just sounds like it's a case of "fvck, we really need to get the headcount down, offer it o all and we'll deal with the fallout".

The cover-all approach allows great flexibility.
If the club said 10 out of 15 office staff had to leave and 3 out of 12 catering staff but got 3 office staff wanting to go and 10 caterers it would have to go through formal redundancy procedures which would take time and cause more stress and either save less, give less favourable severance and lead to increased employees being lost.

The people who will be made redundant will almost certainly higher earners who can be replaced with cheaper employees already on the payroll (30 years experience replaced with an up and coming talent could well benefit all parties) and people doing less specialised work.
I have no idea of how support jobs are organised but I do know where general notices have gone out people with essential skills are often turned down for redundancy or put on a waiting list to find someone within the organisation who can take over their work or if it can be shared (e.g. HR with the Stadium could be taken over by HR on the club list, 6 ticket office staff could be reduced to 4 with two going into the shop (or vice versa), three full time jobs could be organised to be covered as the equivalent of 2 days part time.
Worrying especially with things Ponting to Swansea and area being left out in the cold even more if Brexit happens.

On the second link, does anyone know what the role of "Associate Director" is?
0
Staff issued with redundancy letters on 21:33 - Mar 25 with 2596 viewsPozuelosSideys

The initial letters will likely be addressed to an employee rather than by specific name. There are many issues around teh legalities and how staff are identified for redundancy.

Any further comms will be addressed to the specific person after the conversations have been had and they have been told. Thats how it was when i was made redundant once. But then a lot of these people wont have specific T&C's within their employment contract which cover pay-off;s or non disclosure agreements etc. They basically get told the job no longer exists, so therefore leave.

He said the squad is in a good place after the run of performances. They're all terrific actors if the mood is supposed to be in the dumps right now.

The squad he’s referring to are probably on more a month than most are a year, I doubt they are all crying themselves to sleep.

Most of them will find employment in their profession pretty comfortably whatever happens here.

Players knowing that their future will be elsewhere are obviously going to be less motivated going into the run in. The clubs in very poor shape.

Fer's performances always seemed to pick up when he was playing for a new contract (here or elsewhere).

Not sure it's a real issue in general, though. Potter's making no excuses.

I have to agree

I’m a big fan of Fer & was expecting him to rip this league apart unfortunately that has happened on only a few occasions this season.

If we had a consistent midfield guvnor this season we’d be knocking on the door of the play offs.

Yes, it's a role given to Dave Morgan, to make him feel as if he 'belongs' in the hierarchy at the club, when in reality he is nothing more than a chauffeur and arse licker to the sell outs. Hope this helps.
