I’m a staunch republican, and have been giving it anti monarchist bollocks all week, but have strangely found myself watching it this morning.

I just walked past the Old Queen's Head on Essex Road and there was a queue to get in the door and people snapping with their phones. So curious that some major celeb was doing a book signing I asked what was going on. The young lady said 'it's the wedding...'

Yes people were cramming in to a pub to take pictures of their big screen.

Fer fu...!

Nothing makes me feel less British than a royal wedding.

As so often the wonderful Priya Gopal captures my feelings on the matter. Making a fuss over the royal family isn't a quirk, it isn't a tongue-in-cheek cute thing that the Brits do. It's a particular manifestation of British capitalism, no matter how camp and knowing you want to make it.

I've switched it on and shouted F**I OFF at the tele and then switched it off again. I've done it a few times now. It's very therapeutic.

Strong and stable my arse.

I think it was great. I missed all of it and went round Sainsbury's with no queues, full shelves, and plenty of parking because everyone was stuck in front of their TV.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

My mother in law is visiting and is watching it with the kids. She has bought bunting.

Bunting.

So glad I am at work. Don't think I could stand it.

Fu ck that's rough, solidarity mate.

My eight month old's playgroup thing had a royal wedding theme this week. My wife dressed her in her Class Snuggle t-shirt, Eat The Rich bib, and did her hair like Jonny Rotten. Never been more proud.

But they're both at my in-laws this weekend and now my mother-in-law is trolling me with photos of my daughter surrounded by union jacks etc...

Available from http://www.lilcomrade.com/ btw

I'm waiting for Clive's write-up on the wedding performance. The selection debate on the invites is always divisive and the issue of whether to play the page boys or stick with the traditional matron-of-honour / bridesmaid combo is a hot topic. The bishop is going to need to play a blinder on a big occasion like this.

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Wot wedding is this then? Didn't know that that some windsors were getting spliced. I have as much interest in the windsors doings as I have the dog turd in the street.
