So that's Ash, and Ayew, who most people didn't think fitted into the team anyway. Two players out of a starting XI. The midfielders were all here last season. So were most of the defenders, and wingers. And finished mid table.
As much as it pains you to give Guidolin even the teensiest bit of credit for last season, he did a hell of a lot better with the mess he inherited than Bradley has thus far.
The squad is not perfect, but he's getting nowhere near the best out of it.

After a reasonable first half we came out unable to string two passes together. Montero continually gave the ball away and I was willing Bob to take him off before the goals came. Too late though, and the usual defensive frailties from Taylor and Amat sealed our fate. There were flashes from Barrow that suggested we might have done better if he hadn't been side-lined by illness. Overall though I agree with earlier posters who say that Bob is stuck with a squad that lacks PL quality.

And if Bradley takes no blame as sonme seem to be arguing, why have a manager at all? He/the coaching team are simply not getting the best out of these players. But even if they did I still think we'd be in the shit. Too many flakes in the team with a catastrophic error in them, including Fabianski. Sigurdsson was a load of old arse too, even when we were playing well.
Clasey was right in his throw away remark earlier, the manager and too many of the players are simply not up to scratch. I'd add coaches , scout, agent sources and Chairman. Lower league, and now the chickens are coming home to roost.
Anyway, who knows, anything can happen. I don't think it will. Just about down and out. Goal difference almost always tells you who will be relegated. Ours is laughable. |  |

From Jan on we are going to have to play like an effin Barcelona super team just to try and stay up...whoever comes in (dont think theyll splash the cash) it will take a monumental effort once that gap widens and we are adrift.
A lot of people seem to agree this setup has not got what it takes mentally and physically to stay up....
Its great being optimistic and supporting the team but it gets to a point when we have to wake up and smell the coffee before its too late....we are sleep walking into the championship. |  |

I actually agree with you sentiment; I preferred Guidolin. But Bob's done better in terms of points than Guidolin did this season. So Guidolin was having just as hard a time. We've missed Ash and Ayew massively. Only 2 players, but if one can help cut out 2-3 defensive cock ups per game and clear the ball (Ash always topped the 'blocks' charts) and the other can convert 1 chance a game, that's the difference between losing 3-0 and winning 2-1.
The players we've retained weren't making the difference last year. Certainly as an attacking force our current midfielders and wingers, bar Siggy, won't have won us many points on their own. We're missing match winning players, pure ans simple imo. Sinclair was one, as was Michu, as was Bony, as was Ayew. We 'replaced' Ayew with Dyer, who's barely kicked a ball (if at all) - says it all. A momentous feck up of a summer transfer window, ultimately overseen by the yanks (ably assisted by Huwbert).
We're playing not much differently to last season between the key moments, but f*cking those key moments up is costing us dearly. |  | | |
