Will Welsh fans be attacked by Russian thugs in Toulouse? 18:16 - Jun 12 with 27437 views | FieryJack | Russian thugs, despite being outnumbered by the English in Marseille, were ruthless, well-organized, powerfully-built, swift and brutal (almost like a "special forces" unit), and inflicted a severe and pretty sickening beating on the ragged, half-drunken, disorganized rag-bag "army" of English fans. The military references are apt: many wore black T-shirts, or black hoodies, had gumshields in their gobs and carried retractable truncheons. And, like an army intent on conquest, they made a point of seizing and ripping up English flags, as well as grabbing "booty": they thieved wallets, iPhones and even trainers from their unconscious victims. They bring hooliganism to another more frightening and ugly level. Considering that most of these Russian blokes appear to spend the other half of their lives working out in gyms, would it not be a good idea to protect the Welsh fans from being similarly attacked by getting the WRU to send out, all expenses paid, 300 of the biggest, meanest, ugliest rugby players on their books, to Toulouse so that our fans can get some sort of protection, because the French security forces don't seem up to it. And there's no way we can defend ourselves against that lot. Hopefully, these Russians can distinguish between the English and Welsh, but I honestly don't think they care a damn, and will attack anyone.

To answer the original question, will Wales fans be attacked, I draw confort from the comments made by respected Russian football journalist Sasha Goryunov. He predicted the trouble beforehand (actually refusing to go to Marseille himself) but has said that he believes that Russian gang will now have left - with the job done. Interestingly he also refers to coverage back in Russia that portrays the Russians as heroes for their part in the trouble and alludes to the whole thing being somewhat orchestrated by the powers that be. All on the Guardian's football weekly podcast. Known English hooligans have their passports removed before a tournament. Can't see that happening with these Russians.

If these sexy short wearing gym bunnys are still in the country then with all the footage available why don't they round them up like they did with the he English in Belguim ? 500 of them arrested and sent home. Same for same ? No, and I will tell you why, they don't like us, they see us all as British and all as one, and it's plain for all to see. Short memories.

Will Welsh fans be attacked by Russian thugs in Toulouse? on 21:55 - Jun 13 with 5009 views | FieryJack | The answer to the question in the title of this thread appears to be "No". The head of the All Russian Fans Federation (or something like that) has claimed that large numbers of Russian fans - he reckons up to 2/3 of those in Marseilles - have either returned to Russia, or will be over the coming days - and for one simple reason: lack of money. The value of the rouble has tumbled, and anyway, most Russians don't have the kind of money which will allow them to travel to and around Western Europe for any significant amount of time. I expect all their fearsome bully boys have gone home - in their tiny minds they've done what they came to do (smash the English and enhance their own reputation) and they've little reason (and probably no money left) to stay. Hopefully, the smaller numbers of sane and normal Russian fans who are left will not be attacked by any English idiots looking for revenge. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Will Welsh fans be attacked by Russian thugs in Toulouse? on 10:50 - Jun 14 with 4545 views | RogueTrooper | The best thing Wales fans can do is stay out of Lille town centre, Turn up early at the stadium in Lens, stay in groups, and keep the friendly attitude that was displayed in Bordeux, get the local police onside by cooperating with them and keeping it friendly, they will be the only effective opposition against people who have come prepared and tooled up. No need to get involved in any goading or provocative stand offs, the local rozzers will just think your asking for it and wont be as sympathetic if your escalating a situation they are stuck in the middle of. Have fun, stay safe, stick together and don’t go looking for trouble. Post game go to any town but Lille, Lens is small, and will probably shut up shop, but there might be somewhere open to those with tickets. The Russians have organised themselves for a scrap, they will go for easy targets with a lot of people for maximum effect, any goading and chanting at them will make them look like heroes in the propaganda that passes for news in Russia, it’s not worth taking them on as our fans have gone to watch the Football with their Mrs and kids, and have not been preparing to kick off for months like these knobs obviously have. There will be nice places in the suburbs, or nearby towns. If you’ve not got tickets, don’t go to Lille, find another French town or have a night out in Paris. Let the English and Russians get each other banned if they like, but its not worth trying to take these on, no matter how many times you’ve been in fights, this is a different level, no matter how hard you are, they have a pack mentality and have been preparing for some time, so its not a fair fight and theres no shame in not getting involved in one. The same will apply in Toulouse. Get the old bill onside, dont give them an excuse. [Post edited 14 Jun 2016 11:19]

Quite a few Russians were banned from travelling apparently, but it seems there's plenty more to pick up the mantle. It's been said in the media that they fear little consequences when they get home, so it does sound like 'effort's by the authorities to clamp down are halfhearted at best.

Leave the Engerland is full of shit type stuff for next season and definitely don't adapt it for the Russians. They take insulting chants as a personal affront to their country's 'masculinity'. I reckon this ignorant boorish drunken 'look at us pretend hard fat tw@s' taunting by the pissed english cretins greatly contributed police not giving a toss when they were attacked.

Will Welsh fans be attacked by Russian thugs in Toulouse? on 13:11 - Jun 14 with 4337 views | MoscowJack | From what I'm reading and seeing here in Moscow, most of the Russian neanderthals have returned back to Russia. It seems that they wanted the scalps of the English hooligans (robbing their flags and turning them upside down for photos is their way of proving it) to show the English that they're not No.1 anymore. It's quite pathetic but Russia's stuck in the 1970s when it comes to football violence. It's not a sport attended by familes in Russia. The 300+ Russian thugs are mainly trained boxers, kick boxers and martial arts experts. They generally leave the innocent fans alone when fighting other teams/clubs in Russia and have organised fights far away from the public and police. The English were an easy target as they knew the English would be drunk and ready to fight, as they always are. What the English bullies didn't realise was that they were up against a seriously strong, mental, fit, organised and determined group of gangs. The way that some (a minority) of English behaved just gave the Russians more of an excuse to fight them but I think the Russians would have found a target even if all the English had been angels. The fact that the English hurled insults, chairs, bottles, etc just gave them their easiest target. The saddest things for me are (a) innocent people were involved and (b) Russia will be holding the next World Cup and nobody in their right mind will want to come here now! UEFA's threat to expel Russia from this tournament is a strong and good threat - let's hope it helps the innocent to avoid scenes like we've seen recently and allow everyone to enjoy the sort of atmosphere us Welsh experienced which SHOULD really be the norm at all games.

Vlad has told his 150 boys to come home, England sending 10,000 extra drinkers to sort the Russian families out. Kremlin has come out and told Russian fans to behave today I can't see it kick off again but England will be at it with someone possibly us given the idiots that are likely on there way over there. The last time I was in Europe was in January of this year - ironically, in Lille, of all places - to attend the funeral of a French friend who died in tragic circumstances in this country. Lille was her home city. To answer your point, though. Cheapness in Europe obviously depends on where you go. France is not cheap. It's on a par with the UK. Most major cities or capital cities in North West Europe are expensive. Paris is a rip-off, like London, and as for Amsterdam, felt totally fleeced with the cost of accommodation, food, beer etc. there. Was planning on going to Zurich/Lucerne this summer, until I found out how outrageously over-priced the place was: got to be the most expensive country in Europe. Clearly, the best value for us is to be found further East. Krakow was great - beautiful Polish women, magnificently decayed buildings, ancient trams, 24 hour "alkohole" shops, cheap food and drink, tons of atmosphere, drunks sleeping on benches everywhere - the only thing that spoiled it were the usual suspects: spoilt, loud-mouthed, manner-less, arrogant groups of wealthy American 20-somethings. On the other hand, perhaps it's a bit to close to Russia for some. Anyway, it's obvious that our part of Europe will be prohibitively expensive to your average Russian - prices are 3 or 4 times what they're used to.
