Cornwall is an older nation than England and one of the oldest Duchies in Europe. 90% of Cornish place names are of Celtic origin and derived from the Kernewek language. In British law - a law that has been continually ignored and breached by England - no officer or agent of the Crown (this would include both Westminster and the Anglican Church) can legally set foot upon Cornish soil without the express and joint permissions of the Duke of Cornwall and Cornwall's Stannary Parliament.
Can't possibly be one of the oldest duchies in Europe; there weren't any hereditary dukes in these islands before the Norman Conquest, by which time the buggers were rife all over the continent (e.g. the Duke of Normandy, who came over here in 1066. Possibly with a few dukes in his hand luggage or similar, then I expect they got out and bred like rabbits. That's immigration for you, I suppose.)
Oldest continuously existing political entity thingy maybe?
I once had to write an essay on Ricard II 1377-99 and as I recall he got into grief for making the first non-royal duke in England (come to think of it, I think it was Duke of Ireland, so not "in England" after all) which was reckoned to be a poncy foreign title.
My useless fact: German for "to ponce about" is "herumtanzeln."

Archduke Franz Ferdinand (of shot in Sarajevo fame) was a keen huntsman who kept detailed diaries on his "sport". According to these he killed 300,000 other creatures in his lifetime.
