Phillips? 00:19 - Apr 2 with 11242 views | MancR | Doesn't even look like a footballer on tonight's evidence, completely innocuous and disinterested. 6 million ? We'd be lucky to get 60k at the moment: (
Phillips? on 00:34 - Apr 2 with 7481 views | Ranger78 | I still can't believe someone offered £6m, it would have been like winning the lottery if we'd taken that!! To me, he is completely pointless. We may as well play with 10 men and like you say, I'd be amazed if we get anything like £6m now

Of course you're right, Bazza. And he had a decent record before joining us. But that's the point, isn't it? He's not a bad player, he's just not really trying, at least not for us. He seems to think he's above tackling, and its killing us down that flank. Transfer list, for me.

It wouldn't bother me at all to lose him this Summer. Overrated imo.
Phillips? on 01:12 - Apr 2 with 7390 views | PunteR | He's a good championship player. I think those last couple of months in the prem where he got the most assists in the world or whatever made him a bit overrated. He's never going to become a fans favorite here if he doesn't put the effort in. He's a bit of a tart despite his premiership chiseled body. I think he has a fragile mind. He could potentially be great for us if he knuckles down.

Well we cant sell him till the summer, and we don't have anything to play for. Why not try and coax the 2015 Phillips out of him. If he was excellent 12 months ago, why can't he be excellent in another 12 months? If he is going to be in a slump i'd rather it was now. In fact, why give anyone pelters right now? It doesn't get us anywhere anyway, good season or bad. In IT parlance, this is a Beta test season. The full version (hopefully without bugs) comes out this August. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

In IT parlance, it would undermine the whole point of a Beta to identify the bug and then leave it/him in...

I wonder if they still want to argue the point? The bloke is a total waster - you don't even have had to play the game to any level to see that he simply does not bother to put in any effort.
Phillips? on 07:59 - Apr 2 with 7139 views | bosh67 | He seems to have lost his confidence, guile, speed and desire. He seems to have this problem in his character. Even on fire or invisible. Not unlike Fer. Can't beat a man, doesn't show for the ball. Not worth his place in the team at the moment. When you look at Hoilett's work rate and willingness, it shows it up even more.

Agreed. I like him. Also for a player who is going through a bad patch he's still given us 7 goals and 5 assists or whatever it is. I think he's just the latest punchbag. [Post edited 2 Apr 2016 9:18]

I made a similar comment and pointed out a few of his current shortfalls only to be told I'm a boo boy.

Fair point. For the record I thought Ramsey maximised his potential I also complained that it's as if he senses himself as being a bit too good for us. Previous post aside in recent weeks he has shown no appetite and his ability to defend is almost woeful. If that makes me a boo boy then there's a lot of us around.

So you think he actually broke sweat last night ? Poor old perch was left isolated all first half as boro attacked us non stop down our right A couple of times he just watched the bloke put a ball in the box , he didn't even stick out a leg To try and stop the ball, that's poor it really is Washington done more in 30 seconds when he came on than he did all game
| And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

Out for me, get rid, taxi! Confidence can ebb and flow, but no excuse for being a lazy work shy git on that money, he doesn't even try, so of course supporters will get on his back. I hate the way the modern footballer needs to be wrapped up in cotton wool and needs smoke blown up his ar$e. Get on with it or get out.

Isn't 7 goals and 5 assists more of a fact than a excuse?
Phillips? on 10:51 - Apr 2 with 6748 views | parker64 | The first time I saw him was away at Yeovil and I thought he looked weak mentally and he hasn't done much to change that view since. The only time he's looked really up for it was that game at Palace. Sure, like alot of wide players he'll have games where he'll look a fine player but surely we've had too many of those over the years. It's easy to make excuses for players.

His performance last night was terrible and his form has dipped drastically the last few months. But I ask this. If he was on fire, if he was taking people on, if he was getting good crosses in, who exactly would be on the end of them? His style is suited to getting down the line and banging crosses in, wholly unsuited to this side. Don't tell me Seb, his positioning when facing goal is generally not good. As such, his use has come down to free kicks and corners. When they go wrong like last night, I suspect he wonders he might be a lot better off at a side that plays to his strengths. He is lazy, he is having a bad patch, but put him in the right team and he's a Prem league player.

Mate, as usual you are reading imaginary stuff . If you are waiting for me to say Phillips was good last night then don't hold your breath. He was cack, and has been at time this season. But, 7 goals and 5 assists. Some winners too. I'm just saying don't get rid yet. A bad patch is different to a bad player.
Phillips? on 11:25 - Apr 2 with 6682 views | RuislipHoop | We are not going up or down,he should be dropped and Petrasso should be given the last 6 or 7 games. We all can see Phillips isn't interested. We should have sold him in the summer.
Phillips? on 11:58 - Apr 2 with 6627 views | terryb | For me he was summed up in the first minute. There was a tackle to be won in the 'boro penalty area. As normal, Matt Phillips bottled it & continued to do so the entire evening. When you have ten players giving their all (they may not be good enough) & one player that is not, that one player needs to be hammered by his team mates for lertting them down. I think he received many a pelter last night from nearly all of the players & deserved his send off from the crowd. Playing him in the hope of putting him in the shop window (again) would be to repeat the mistake of when we played Green, Sandro & Fer. Our mistake was over valuing him last summer. A top of £3 million should have been asked for & would have been got. One year later this figure may have to be reduced.
