On your last point, there have been supporters of another club who have sought to seek comfort in the 'fact' we have been overspending on gates of 1800 and we should be asking questions about where the money is coming from.

To such mongs, I refer you to the transfer income column of £1.8m, without which we'd have made an annual loss of £400,000. But with which, a profit of £1.4m has been raised. Which equals 3.5 years continued existence if we cannot sell another player or have a cup run, or fail to make revenue out of a ground we now own 100%.

Great point. Selling a player should always been seen as a success but sometimes the timing could be better (Done) and that obviously irks a lot of supporters, but beggars can't be choosers.

I wonder what the negative aspect could be now these figures have been released. Will the players and staff suddenly start to demand a hike in pay? Will it effect salary negotiations when signing new players? Will supporters suddenly expect the manager to have a wad of cash to sign higher profile players? It can bring frustration but the Chairman and Directors need to look after that money and not fritter it away. If they are accused of a lack of ambition then tough, we need more money than that, it's not enough.

I hope the purse strings are still pulled tight and we have a long term financial plan for when (not if) we hit a rocky period in the Clubs progress. The first test will be when Hilly moves on. Forget we've got that money and let's carry on with the current plan.

'The first test will be when Hilly moves on.'

The problem there being - he really is irreplaceable for us.

Maybe, but that doesnt mean we can never find another good manager, of course we could. Appointing managers isnt easy and involves a lot of luck. We got lucky with Hill and he got lucky with us,the rest is history.

Ideally we want to be recruiting from within but only if that person is the right man and can recruit and motivate players and demand respect. Reward Hilly well and keep him for another few years, that would be nice. Why gamble with his career when he can earn a good living at Rochdale. After that,i can see nothing wrong with a dream management team of Beech and Jones.

Obviously he is ambitious - but he really has got a Dario Gradi situation at Dale. He can virtually run the club top to bottom how he sees fit and oversee all aspects of the club. He will never be sacked and has a job for life if that's what he wants. He's never going to get that anywhere else - if he is happy what more could he wish for? He doesn't seem to be a person driven by money - and he's comfortable here. Long may it last.

I agree that we should continue with the current plan, because one day we'll need that capital to see us through a lean spell.

And I think the plans for Hilly's successor have been in place for some time. I've not been told a thing, but I suspect the answer is already in the building.

As a Limited company, I assume we pay Corporation Tax at the going rate, whatever it currently stands at. So the treasury will pocket around £280,000 out of our war chest.

I assume.

The risk of going elsewhere is that he won't be given the time to do the job. There are several clubs that we'd probably identify as being the right size of club for Hilly to progress to, but almost without exception they are clubs that have a proven track record of getting rid of managers if success hasn't been achieved within twelve months.

The bury fc comparator accounts (although late) will make interesting reading.

Of course, bury fans will point to League 2 football, no cup run for what will be a shocking profit and loss account, rather than the 2014/15 season we had. Fully expect the ostritches to remind us that uncle Stewie has a five year plan to get them into the Championship funded mainly by their supply chain CCJ's or possibly even other football clubs!

Equally, we need to remember that the accounts we have produced are out of date also. Since them we have had another successful season in League 1, living within our means and I'd expect another, smaller profit for 2015/16. The purchase of the ground and frugalness of the manager are in essence the things that are generally refered to as the "long term economic plan".

The ostritches have had a season of Leon Clarke and Tom Pope, a failed pop concert and sold all of their parking spaces to god knows who. I cannot wait to see the financial mess the buckets are back in.

Long live Chris Dunphy and long live Keith Hill. The future is bright simply due to hard work, dedication, skill and care in taking a long term view.

No shit Sherlock

Being serious,Beech and BBM have been with Hilly long enough now to know whats required. If they have the right personality and drive then we would be daft to look elsewhere. They know how the Club functions which is massive. It would be nice to think both are involved in transfer dealings and will be familiar with recruitment should they land in the hot seat at some stage.

They apparently raised 2 million quid 'selling' the car park spaces - although they have guaranteed a profit after 10 years to all purchasers so they cant really use that money? If it shows up on their accounts which I assume it will - it will have the same positive affect as our player sales.

Reading between various lines I think BBM plays a bigger role than he is given credit for.

Plus he has numerous contacts in the game especially in Ireland (which I have been told) which could see our recent prolific number of good Irish players continue.

Cue 442 to pop up with an Irish XI since 2000!

Off top of my head, I'm thinking: McCourt, McEvilly, McArdle, Dicker, BBM, Raff, Lund, Camps and I'm sure there's plenty of others I've forgotten!

Regarding 'five year plans' - I hope that's something we never hear coming from the Dale again. I think we all remember Hlllcroft's first fan's forum with the projector and slides, introducing their five (or however many years it was ) plan. They become hostages to fortune. Our fortune's were great for the next five years but maybe the failure of the club to capitalise commercially on that success was more than partly responsible for Hilly moving on, whatever his own ambitions were at the time.

That's not to say there shouldn't be forward thinking, but what we have now is actually more secure and more sensible. We have a strategy. And it's working to such effect that we've reclaimed our stadium and set ourselves up for a real tilt at the championship, not one based on needing to get there to pay off creditors.

Some fans will no doubt look at the accounts and demand incoming transfers. They should back off and just be told to look where we are and where we've set ourselves up to be in the future with our current and I hope, permanent strategy. Appointing from within will be key to this, and the smoke signals* seem to be positive.

Yes its great having plans - but you never know when the next Hogan, Dawson will happen. Those 2 were complete shocks from nowhere. Hill cant be that lucky - he has an incredible eye for a player. I remember those 1st league games watching them both and you are thinking ' how the hell have we got these' ! It was so obvious they were a class above.

I can see the same when I watch Donal, if Hill can get his head and his fitness levels right he can win games on his own. One of those players who people pay good money to watch.

The accounts state "No liability to UK corporation tax arose on ordinary activities for the year ended 31 May 2015 nor for the year ended 31 May 2014"

How that works, I don't know, but maybe tax liability can be spread across a number of years?

Yes Donal is an exceptional talent. Gone a bit wrong along the way but you can tell the way Hilly talks about him he loves him to death. Amazing he went from scoring in the play offs for Bournemouth in 10/11 to non league a few years later.

It would be the equivelant of him taking Beech with him though. Anyway, thats further down the line. I dont buy into the theory that the Club goes back to square one once Hill moves on but even if we go through a rough patch,we've done that before.

Being a Dale fan isnt conditional on Hilly being manager or punching above our weight in league one, our time in league two proves that.
