Swansea just haven't got the desire, intelligence pace or bottle for the fight. on 15:17 - Feb 14 by londonlisa2001 | Whatever happens hardly any of this team will be playing with us as first choice next year so it's difficult to tell how we'll be. Have long believed and said though, that it's far easier to stay in this division than to get into it. If we do go down, and let's pray we don't, we won't come back up for a while in my view. How anyone can say that they saw desire, pace, intelligence etc for 90 minutes from us is utterly beyond my comprehension. We had none of those things, not one. |
That bemuses the bejusus out of me too. That last 55 mins was just about the limpest thing I've seen whilst watching them on screen since Norwich. Actually it was worse. At least we tried to impose ourselves on the Delias.

Swansea just haven't got the desire, intelligence pace or bottle for the fight. on 15:03 - Feb 14 by Starsky | the manager wasn't happy with our performance. I've said on here since Curtis took over that we don't look like a relegation side. This game, for me, we did. |
I wish I could give a direct quote of what the manager said about the team's performance. I'll stand corrected, but it was something very like "They weren't brilliant," or "They weren't as brilliant as they have been." This next sentences do not refer to you or your post, but I get annoyed by some posters who, when we lose -- even by a single goal -- explode in hateful language about the team. I guess they only way they can be pleased is if our opponents would send out eleven plastic dummies like they use in training, staked into the ground. We play skilful human opponents who are playing to win just as we are, to score against us as often as they can, and to prevent us from scoring. Sometimes they're successful at both. [Cue boo-birds.] Most of them arer just user names who never appear unless we lose. Probably "top 4" side supporters who bitch and moan if their team isn't winning silver.

I've read no hateful language on this thread just opinions from people who have emotional investment in the side who are concerned about the way we are going.

Swansea just haven't got the desire, intelligence pace or bottle for the fight. on 18:04 - Feb 16 with 1090 views | ymaohyd | Personally I think the players have shown plenty of desire for the fight to stay up. If you look at the last 10 games: Drawn 4, won 3, lost 3. That would be easily good enough to stay up if that was replicated for the other sections during the season. If we go down, it's difficult to pinpoint certain games, however I would certainly look at the games against West Brom away and Palace home as a turning point. When you put yourself in good positions in games its vital you finish them off. When you don't it hugely affects confidence and then when you come up against good teams as with Southampton who are arguably the form team at the moment, what happened is nailed on! We are inadequate in several areas, for me though the players are giving 100%

I think maybe we were shocked by the half paced half arsed display of Saturday which mirrored the worst of Monk. I know I was. And yes I know Soton are half decent but they strolled around and beat us. Someone said their goalie could have sat in the stands. Normally that's hyperbole. This time it isn't. You are right though, we shouldn't assume that is 'normal' any more than assuming the promising upturn was 'normal'. I don't think I was alone in hoping we'd see better now FG has his feet under the table though. Rocky road ahead.

More than a rocky road ahead. When I was trudging up the steps after the Palace game, hugely disappointed at wasting 2 points, I glanced up to the scoreboard and couldn't believe my eyes that Sunderland had come back to draw against Liverpool. Everything was made worse when they came back thanks in the main to the walk out...just couldn't believe it. I just knew that Sunderland would benefit from the momentum, they go and beat United! For me that's how it all works....momentum, We lost huge momentum against Palace and it showed against Southampton. It's all up for grabs, the only prediction I'd make is that when we are controlling games we have to put chances away and get 3 points. There'll be a number of games we won't be in it and lose (probably the next 2 games) but the winnable games, we must, must win. Obvious things to say but if we don't we will be relegated.
