Red card for a challenge that wasn't even a foul. Two "goals" given - both offside.... You've got to go some to beat that!

The Official Swansea City v Sunderland FC Matchday/night Thread on 21:40 - Jan 13 by blaine_scfc | There is three major negatives for me. The performance of Fabianksi, Ki and to be honest Rangel when he came on. Really poor. The ref should never ever ref in the professional leagues again and I honestly mean that. Horrendous performance. |
partly agree, the ref and that linesman were absolutely terrible, but there were errors again by Swans players, going to need a massive movement now of HJs wallet.......but please do not take the advice of whoever said get Gomes and a few others in!!!!!

Agree Lisa. 17 games to go and performances much better than a few months ago. Keep the level of intensity and desire, add one or two new faces and results will surely follow. Curt needs to use the sense of injustice tonight and deliver his own Henry V speech. Us against the world. Bring it on!

I couldn't get to the game because of illness and cqan only go on what's been posted and very limited updates in the middle of the big game being broadcast on national radio up at the KC stadium tonight. I don't think it's any reflection on the players but wen luck goes so badly against us when we're already at a low ebb then it's easy to believe the writing is on the wall. Things seem to be conspiring against us alarmingly.

Take your head out of it Lisa. That was a shambles. if this team is staying up then it needs to be done before the last 6 games, which sees up against likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Leicester and West Ham.. So in reality, 11 games left to fix it. Anyone who fancies us to stay up is just in the denial stage of grief, and it's nothing to do with 'going back to Liverpool or United' ffs Cut the BS about refs, shipping 4 at home to SUNDERLAND ffs, the sickness around the club is terminal and will take us down and out.

and mistakes happen. Defoe was offside for that goal though - clearly offside. As offside as Rangel was when our 'goal' was disallowed. Fed up of the ridiculous over reaction. This was a huge game - we could have pulled clear, but we didn't. Still not in the bottom three though, and our 'fans while we're good' or 'fans while the big teams' fans like us as their second team' are just pathetic. It is incredibly difficult to win a match when the referee makes such a shocking decision. It'll be overturned of course, but that doesn't really help does it, along with the linesman not spotting two blatant offsides. I think this will help us over the season - if this doesn't make the players angry then nothing will.

No. it wasn't. Oxford was a shambles, and I'm always able to admit it when that happens. Tonight was incredible bad luck. It's not possible to 'cut out the BS about the ref' when he sends a player off with so obviously a disgraceful decision - not even marginal, not even a yellow, not even a foul. Changed the game which otherwise we would have won. Simple as that.

So what, a football team goes down to 10 men and that's it, inevitable defeat? Had any of the players not been seen this scenario before? FFS they're professionals, they train for this, it's no excuse. It was Kyle Naughton who we lost, probably the least effective player on the pitch, and that's saying something.

How do you train for defending against offside goals? The training involves ensuring that the opposing player is offside - if the linesman doesn't give it then what on earth can you do? Not even marginal - blatant. And it wasn't Naughton that we lost was it - it was Britton. Never is the player that gets sent off - it's the player that you then have to sacrifice.

The Official Swansea City v Sunderland FC Matchday/night Thread on 22:31 - Jan 13 with 1948 views | AnotherJohn | Just home from the game, and the radio reports on the way seem to confirm my impression that we suffered because of some horrendous refereeing. That isn't the whole story though; to lose to a team like Sunderland a series of negative events need to come together. I do not usually resort to expletives, but clusterf*** was the word that came to mind. From gifting them an early goal , to the niggle that developed into the red card incident, and Rangel getting skinned, there were certainly several things that went wrong. In between there were some good bits too, but that result may be a mortal blow. I had the sense in the last 15 minutes at 2-3 down that we might be playing for our EPL future. We gave it a go, but didn't have enough quality to get anything. I noted that not all our crowd stayed until the bitter end.

From where I was sitting, the back four and Fab always seem to be an accident waiting to happen. Nervy under pressure and poor decision making. Conditions didn't help but how many times do we have to play ourselves into a hole before understanding that Row Z is often the best option? Less said about the officials the better but we really don't help ourselves. Will be watching Watford from behind the sofa.

I didn't say that though did I? It'll be touch and go, but I personally think we'll stay up. If we don't we don't - it'll be gutting but the sun will still come up. We have lots of games left and we are not in the bottom 3. If you can't deal with it then you can't have been watching us for very long.
