Someone told me a little story a week or so ago so I thought I'd go to Swansea library and and have a look in the archives and see for myself and get some print outs just in case i might ever need them like. Whilst there I printed out a couple of other things.

I've been to many away games that were disappointing, rain soaked, where we deserved to win, but didn't. Grounds were horrible with pillars for viewing, stewards who were over the top in their duty. I've been showered with golf balls, coins, and bricks.
But I would have to be dragged kicking and screaming to Anfield ever again.
Still don't know who decided to close half the away end before the kick off, and why did the police disregard the instructions from the SCSClub, informing them of the exact amount of fans that would be attending that match.
Half the supporters on the bus I was stewarding didn't get in, albeit with genuine tickets bought in advance.( often pay on the gate games at that time) It was an away day disaster all round.
Thanks Darran for the press cuttings, shame you missed the SWEP full page when AC and Neil Robinson were fined by Toshack for the P### in the Parkgate scandal.
Same here Lor, never want to go back to Anfield after that game, the game its was great the only reason Liverpool scrapped a draw was because of the ref, but the place and the Liverpool fans were dire.
Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.
By the same token, there wasn't much working class, welsh, all in it together spirit between our Cardiff games.
Come to think of it, don't remember the Vetch to be that welcoming.
Come to think of it, selective memories.
My nephew in his late teens a the time, came to the vetch to watch his hometown team Middlesboro when they played Swansea in the cup a few years ago. He was in the away end. He's said he'd never felt so intimidated all his life. Lol

You've hit my point right on the head i.e. "The biggest mob of nutters I have ever seen". Only when surrounded by that comfort zone i.e. the 'biggest' mob of nutters hey?
I went to the next away game which was indeed shown on The Big Match. A paltry SCFC away following mostly of a few official coaches and no British Rail specials and guess what? No hoolies! The camera showed the jubilant fans celebrating after a goal? Not a wedge haircut, ski jumper or green-coat bomber jacket in sight. No hoolie war dress for this one!
It was just an observation. Get a grip ffs!

I was 14 at the time and went on the supporters club bus. It was one hell of a shambles.
Couldn't get in the away part. Thousands locked out and packed like sardines while eejits on police horses pushed through causing even worse crushing problems. Seem to remember the wall blocking up a bay window of a house by the entrance collapsed on some people.
Gave up and went in the Kop at half time. Was quite mad down in the front right corner with lots of stuff being thrown at us including, bizarrely half a milk crate, seemed an odd thing to take to a match. Climbed onto the pitch with a few friends and Ianto Craven, I think, dived back into the crowds in the Kop. Walked along the touchline thinking we would finally make it to the Swans fans section but the police threw us in with the Liverpool fans behind the goals. Things were not too bad until Dai Davies pushed Terry Mc Dermot into the back of the net after he scoring a penalty.
All hell broke loose and had to get out of their through a tunnel of kicks and punches. Just walked back through Stanley Park to the buses where there were pitched battles all over the place and wooden staves from park fencing being thrown through coach windows.
What pissed me off most was that we should have beaten them which we did in the return fixture at the vetch I'm glad to say. :-)
I remember a lot of Swans fans being taken completely off guard by the Liverpool experience?.......... We had all heard about the infamous 'humour' and 'warmth' of The Kop and Scoucers but experienced the total opposite. Both police and LFC supporters were a rather nasty bunch.
Yes a lot of stuff about humour and friendliness etc and though some were pretty OK even most were fecking awful.
Correct again who actually trained and played for us in two friendlies in the summer of 87 but didn't end up signing because of a row over money with Dougie.

One thing that always bemused me? The reason for the Scoucers anti-social nastiness bearing in mind LFC could not stop winning trophies year in year out, its not as if they had anything to be angry about? They should have all be floating on clouds and the football they served up was absolutely superb!

I remember those days sitting in the old Wingstand your kids used to sit in the centre stand to the left of me. Nobody can call us plastics i.e. I don't love that term 'plastic' cos all fans a welcome in my books.

I used to enjoy those more than I enjoy these days.

I have come to the conclusion that the Premier League is indeed a money making racket for many a despicable mercenary player and agent. I have now seen my beloved club suffer the consequences of e.g. Shelvey. Too many PL players past and present have held their clubs to ransom and been rewarded for failure and contemptible unprofessionalism. It is indeed an utter obscenity.
I would love SCFC to stay in the Premier League but the downsides are one thing I'm never ever gonna miss if relegation should ever occur!
