Has just resigned from Chile job

Tim Vickery on Talksport thinks he could be coming to us (although he did say there would be a lot of potential jobs he could get)

Interesting

Where have you seen/heard this latest rumour pencoedjack ?, cant say I can see anything saying Sampaoli has just resigned or anything new linking him with us or anything to do with the topic on Vickery's twitter in the last day or so ?

If true, there is no coverage in the 'Santiago Times' on line - http://santiagotimes.cl/

Vickery is usually a respected source, did he say Sampaoli has resigned or about to resign or could resign ?

'About to resign with his likely destination Swansea although there are a lot clubs who would want him'

H&J this afternoon

I know talksport is crap for rumours but Vickery is usually pretty reliable.

What a coup that would be , he'd be in demand by some big clubs though , but still why not offer a big staying up bonus to wet his spirited

I ain't lumping any more on any one , it could all go t!ts up in an instance .

Although it's looking like curt but I think we need new ideas in my humble opinon

I am being (very) optimistic but maybe

The deal was sorted when HJ went to SA but for whatever reason he couldn't join till now.

These formations, Curt saying 'waiting for the right man', Vickery, falling odds etc

Blind optimism maybe.... Tisdale will probably get the gig tomorrow.

lumped on at 33/1 a couple of weeks ago.

Vickery has mentioned it on twitter this evening, basically saying he won't be short of offers and we need to be persuasive.

Crossing everything that this comes off.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

and his odds on Coral have been reduced from 33/1 to 10/1.

Curt still favourite though, with BR at 5/2, Sampaoli 10/1 and F De Boer 12/1

He must be coming someone's aunty's,cousins mate whose neighbours sons girlfriend works at the club heard some talk of chile while she was washing the dishes in the canteen

She must know my source, although he works on the chopping of vegetables bit. Can you ask her to tell him I'm looking forward to speaking to him once the injunction expires?

I would hazard a guess that anyone who thinks the board are clueless have judged them over 5 weeks not 13 years.

5 weeks?

I doubt they are capable of thinking that long-term.

This Sampaoli guy doesn't have much of a record in club management. I hope he's the right guy. I hope he can work with Curt to ease himself into the rigours of the Premier League. Bit worried to be honest. I wonder if he will bring in one of his Chile stars, step forward Gary Medel. Maybe Gonçalo Jara.

Apparently the Chilean FA are holding a press conference on Friday about Sampaoli position. Ironically (if it is ironic??) Bielsa is being lined up as a replacement if he does leave.

We are talking about a board who secured Michael Laudrup remember.

Yes, fair point, but although Laudrup was a superstar player in his day he has only ever been a mid-range manager (Getafe, Mallorca, Swansea, etc.). This guy currently has a very high profile and in the crazy world of football will be on the radar of the big boys and will probably demand very high wages. This is likely to be the stumbling block for us.

Another poster above made an interesting point that he has only managed at the very top level on the international stage so he might take some time to get into the swing of club management; probably a significant risk for us at this stage.

But hey, I would be happy with Curt continuing or if Sampaoli gets the gig, or anyone else the club thinks will keep us in the PL, I'm happy ;)

C'mon Bony shoot !!!!

Vickery's twitter feed as of 8 hrs ago

1) IF he quits 2) he'll have a lot of options. "long shot" to Swansea and Huw will have to talk a good game to get him

Unlikely is my view.
