The Forward Line 08:20 - Nov 15 with 2802 views | BigDaveMyCock | Whilst I'm not as miserable as some threads/posts on here I am concerned about this aspect of our play and squad more generally. We just do not have anybody in the squad who can play in a central striker position, presuming that Hill is making the right call on Alessandra. Our overall play was of a decent standard at times yesterday and we broke well from midfield on a number of occasions only for either Bunney to be out-muscled or, after that, Andrew not reacting quick enough. The outcome was that moves repeatedly broke down in the last third and we just couldn't get any foothold in the game. There were occasions when we did put some good balls into the box as well but not once did a Dale player show any willingness to get on the end of one. There were some real bread and butter balls for a striker yesterday but Bunney and Andrew just didn't seem interested. Or more worryingly capable. If we are going to survive in this league we have to hope Vincenti and Hendo can pick up the goal burden again or we have to replace Bunney, Andrew and/or Alessandra in January with a striker who can on anything like a consistent basis link play and contribute goals on something like a one in three/four ratio. If neither happens I'm not sure we'll have enough to nick enough games. [Post edited 15 Nov 2015 8:23]

The Forward Line on 09:27 - Nov 15 with 2702 views | macro | Vincenti after his player of the month award has gone off the boil, Hendo’s been injured and off par for a great deal of the season and Bunney, Andrew, NML, RNL have played inconsistently, Alessandra hasn’t really been given a chance. I agree with you the forward line hasn’t gelled like last season and lacks something. To be fair though we also need the midfield to be creative and Allen, Lund, Camps and McDermott have been inconsistent too this combined has meant we’ve blown hot and cold all season
The Forward Line on 12:36 - Nov 15 with 2556 views | JimmyRustler | Allesandra has to be a better option than Bunney but he needs a run of games to prove himself. McDermott needs to be in the starting line up as well. He's one of our most creative players. His lack of recent form isn't an argument for leaving him out anymore because the majority have been as poor as he was/even worse.

If, and this is presuming that all players are played on merit (admittedly that is a big presumption), Joe and Calvin are considered to be better options than Alessandra then he must be fookin hopeless!! On a serious note, I've no idea what he's done to be treated so shoddily but to see them two consistently getting game time and him not must be depressing for him. It fookin is for me. Alessandra scored in two of his three starts, so makes no sense not to give him a go. Calvin could be another Dean Walling and be a better Centre Half, if Hilly likes his defensive qualities so much, play him there! Vincenti ripped Sheffield United to bits when played as a number 9, Donal's best games have been in the number 10 role and play Hendo and NML on the wings, now all of a sudden we have a number of goal threats. Calvin and JB won't get 10 between them this season!

The Forward Line on 15:08 - Nov 15 with 2397 views | 442Dale | Something else about Alessandra is the goals he's scored and the admittedly big chance he missed v Oldham - he gets into positions to score goals. His link up play is pretty good too so it's very difficult to fathom. If he'd had a few starts, not scored or looked like doing so, not set up good chances (Vincenti's terrible miss at Bury), then it'd make much more sense.

Eastham made an awful misjudged header in the 1st half giving Davies the 1 on 1 chance that he put wide. Also 1 awful clearance in the 2nd half where he just didn't look and gave it straight to a Wigan player just outside the box. I'm not saying I dont agree with giving him a chance ahead of Lancashire - as I think Eastham overall is safer. If Lancashire had made those mistakes yesterday though - he'd be getting slated on here.

Vincente was shocking yesterday , we know he can sneak a goal from 6 inches but he didnt get in the postions or have the ball delivered yesterday. As for RNL and mendez-laing, these two are pathetic and should have never been given a contract( scored a hat trick against a shocking Swindon team! before any mongs wish to comment). Andrew was known for being crap before he came here, yet given a two year contract WTF Alessandro is crap sorry he runs around like a jack Russell cjhasing a ball but has no end result, another waste of a wage and contract. I honestly thought we had got rid of Bunney last season but no he turns out again and not only lets us down but himslef. The signings this season have been absolutely shocking and any Dale fan who really thinks any of those mentioned are League One players is really kidding themsleves.

I would imagine if you rolled Bunney and Andrew into one you would get a player with half the ability and goalscoring prowess of George "Dogshit" Donnelly. As a side issue, it shows how far we've come when Michael Rose is being lauded by many as the best player on the pitch. Worrying to say the least.

No end product? Alessandra has two goals from limited starts. Opinion is one thing, facts are another.

Yeah, we're doing fine. It's all about how we deal with these dips in form - Hill has responded before when it's happened, I expect the same to happen again. If there's one thing that would sway public opinion, it's by releasing the shackles a bit. Fly out at teams and see what happens, see Shrewsbury at home.

Yes, agree with you, I don't think most supporters mind if we lose if we've had a gp. Losing and appearing not to have tried and being too defensive is another thing.

Some very winnable games coming up. Every season we go through a bad patch we always come out of it stronger. Keep the faith.

The fact that Hilly has produced the teams he has on the shoestring budgets afforded to him is nothing short of miraculous. I've probably been spoiled but the two central strikers this thread is about are so far behind the usual standard that it leaves you baffled. It may be a result of all the over-achievement, I don't know. However, from watching Dale with Hilly in charge, even considering the budgetary constraints, we can do better those strikers.
