As regards HOOPER, it really was a yellow bordering red and I ll be staggered if he s not banned. Brilliant for us... he s a pain but Pocock a bigger one.. Just come back from hospital (free papers) and read about 6 f them. Seemed to just find the sport pages. Prince HARRY AND THE MIDDLETONS LOOKED SAD

Supposedly there is video footage of it. One thing that hasn't really been mentioned about the match is the officiating. Given the pressures that Monmouth referred to earlier in the week about the 'desire' for England to go through, the refereeing was very fair and unbiased - the match officials did a good job of not bowing to any pressure to be 'homers'.

Gatlands team selection is going to be very interesting. He may feel that some need a rest, particularly if they have been carrying minor knocks. And he can almost afford to do it, with Australia presumably being huge favourites anyway. On the other hand, he could really go for broke and try to set up a realistic passage to the final. I think he will go all in.

I would agree-Scotland or Japan would be an easier option than SA who are building momentum. Semis are a real possibility and let's see from there

The semis then would in all likelihood be Ireland or France, so we would have as good a chance as any in our half of the draw of reaching the final. Would mean beating Australia though..... | | | | Login to get fewer ads

My point was that they were fair and the worry pre game about them 'helping' England didn't materialise. Reds for Burgess and Farrell would have been harsh and at that point, yellow / red didn't matter as there were less than 10 mins to go. Burgess should have seen yellow as well though. The Hooper one I'm not sure about - haven't watched it again, but at the time it didn't seem that bad? He cleared Brown out very strongly - is the accusation that he went in without using his arms?

Brown then took the law into his own hands and had Hooper on the floor. Plus the ref said there was nothing doing

Every little helps (if he’d banned). To be honest, it didn’t look that bad, although I’ve not watched it since.

Our best XV, no doubt about it. Winning this game would set up a likely path to the final of Scotland and Ireland, as opposed to South Africa and New Zealand.

I thought Poite had a good game. A few times I felt he let England hold onto the ball a bit long after the tackle, but he did penalise them numerous times for it too, and heavily penalised their scrum. He should have penalised Dan Cole for taking Ashley-Cooper(?) without the ball, after he nearly intercepted an England pass. TMO said to have a word with the England player. Have a word FFS.

Yes, that was heartwarming. I really thought Poite would buckle.
