Just been into the ticket office at Bloomfield Rd to get our tickets. Although Dale said there were only 180 left yesterday and that was our full allocation, the woman who sold them at Blackpool said they open up an area in the East stand (next to where we're situated) if we take up all our seats in the North stand.

Give it a rest. Tickets could be bought from the Rochdale ticket office or over the phone to be picked up at Blackpool, for the past week or so. If you decided to chance your arm and not buy a ticket in advance, (same cost...) then it's nobody's fault that you didn't get in but your own.

Moot point.
Should the club be 100% responsible to let every single fan know for every single game that there may be ticket restrictions?
If so, what methods of communication should they use? Twitter, facebook, website, instagram, local press, national press, local radio, national radio, personal home visit?
Or should there be some onus on the individual to check before travelling?

Lessons to be learnt from yesterday.
Rochdale fans are used to paying on the gate. It's just what we've been used to for years.
I didn't buy a ticket beforehand. I just didn't get chance to get down to the club and let's be honest, it's a big stadium. I wasn't going to have trouble getting in surely?!
With this, the amount of our allocation we had sold and the weather, it doesn't take a commercial expert to realise that more than 180 Rochdale fans would turn up on the day.
Anyway thankfully my brother arrived at the ticket office at 1400 and got me one but there were only 20 left at the time so I was one of the lucky ones.
I saw the club tweet a fan saying that it's ok to ring the club beforehand, pay over the phone and your ticket will be available for collection on arrival at the away ground.
PLEASE make an announcement to fans to let them know this service is available.
I didn't know about this.
Can't see the same happening at Chesterfield at the stand we're in has plenty of room but hope the club learn from this.
I don't blame Blackpool as they can only be guided by the visiting club.

The very fact we're onto page two already indicates a) there was uncertainty about yesterday's game for travelling fans and b) fans aren't agreeing.
Can't do owt about b) but with a) we can contact the Trust who can use their links with the club to try and eradicate future problems. Are the following questions ok for everyone?:
1) when we have an away fixture where the following is likely to exceed the allocation can it be made "all-ticket" straight away? (there aren't many, but Fleetwood would be the next one)
2) to emphasise this situation can the club bring in the usual priority selling eg. season ticket holders get a couple of days to get theirs before they go on open sale?
The second one will make fans realise they have specific times to get their ticket sorted. ST holders think "well if I don't get one in the first few days, I run the risk" and non ST holders focus on the date they go on open sale. Also with point 2, wouldn't it be relatively easy to set up a "loyalty points" scheme that many other clubs have to give further levels of priority? In fact...
Question 3 for the Trust:
Can the club have a loyalty points system? When fans buy tickets can't the club add them to the database and allocate, for example, 10 points for buying one for Gillingham, 5 for Chesterfield and 3 for Bury?
This would encourage fans to buy tickets from the club in advance (and then earn our percentage of the sale), further removing the thought of "I'll just pay on the day" while making them think "I'll have more loyalty points for our play-off semi final away leg...."

I travelled up from London with 3 others for the game, I'm not a season ticket holder and can't simply call in to Spotland for tickets. I'm not an exiled Trust member either. It's theoretical, but wrong in my view, to ask those that live in the area to get tickets for me and in the past they have.
We decided that we would risk it on the train and get to the ground ASAP knowing there were 180 on sale. The OP here gave me confidence that whenever we arrived there would be tickets available.
I got the last four tickets at 1410. Incredibly lucky to have done so given the briefing from RAFC and then the inadvertant miscommunication from here since we strolled casually from the train station seemingly in no rush.
The problem for me was how the clubs (Blackpool and Rochdale) expect to manage expectation on those who can't collect tickets in advance from Rochdale.
Given a northern league and restricted away ends in some grounds, this issue needs looking at. If you take yesterday the 999 tickets should have gone:
* 1 per season ticket holder (a possibly sold out then)
* Trust members (definetely sold out if not to ST holders)
* General sale
That means me and the three who travelled for London would have missed out. We would have tried to probably arrange sorting tickets out the RAFC ticket office and asked those travelling to meet us outside.
Also, what order did the sale happen? We sat in our allocated seats; others didn't. The first 25 minutes were carnage with the obvious latecomers who had been enjoying the Prom pre-match. I expected seats in the fringes of the stand but they were right in the middle of the main block.
Comes with success I suspose but I can see the frustrations of those who didn't get in to the Dale end. |  |

No I know you weren't having a go, but there's an acceptance on my behalf that it ended up being wrong.
Fleetwood is three weeks away, I'll bring this up with the Trust on Tuesday if something doesn't come out beforehand. With the current Trust board made up as it is currently with the club represented, it should be relatively easy to see things clarified by the time Fleetwood tickets go on sale (which must be very soon). | |

The club posted on Twitter that tickets can be bought over the phone and picked up at away grounds, which will help people who cannot get down to the club.
This does highlight an major issue. From my understanding every article on the official site, tweet etc said that we had an allocation of 999 tickets. Towards the end of the week in the response to a tweet the club said that when they had gone, they had gone. Now there is an issue that many people do not look at the club Twitter account and did not know this.
I suspect that in the future clubs like Blackpool should look at levels of allocation, maybe er on the side of caution and make games all ticket for Dale supporters when their is likely to be a high level of demand (although this wont be popular with may supporters). Dale should stress the importance of buying tickets through all mediums possible, including on a match day (personally I think they could not have done much more for the Blackpool game). Supporters need to also realise that for popular away games they will probably need to buy a ticket in advance, although again, this will not be popular as some people cannot commit to nearer the game. |  | | |

Interestingly the Walsall site states that they have advance tickets on sale for their visit on the 29th and more if needed.
No mention of only 999 or when they have gone they have gone..

Throw into the mix that it's our first trip to Blackpool in years, its the first away game of the season, good form in the first two games and in the middle of August, then taking over a thousand would be expected by most. It was only the uncertainty of whether the game would be completed that put anyone off at all.
Everything on the OS has been 100% factually correct, but it was only their FB message on Friday which suggested that there could be an issue with tickets selling out. I personally had assumed that we were being given all of the North Stand rather than just a section of it, and therefore extra supporters could easily be accommodated. If it was to be 999 tickets and not one ticket more (which is less than we had at Newport and Fleetwood), then it should have been given all ticket status immediately with the usual priority selling that comes with that. It all stinks of the oystons trying to save money on security in the away end so they can secure the home ends from pitch invasions etc. Why the hell would our club ask for 999 tickets? Why not 1000 or 1100 as an example? Something just doesn't sit right with it all. |  | | |

That last part is a good point, as is something mentioned earlier by RAFCBLUE about Trust members having priority - it would encourage supporters to join knowing they would be, in effect, part of a priority group of fans for all-ticket games. [Post edited 16 Aug 2015 15:50]
