Did the premiership start on the same day as the FL last year?

FAO TVOS on 22:48 - Aug 10 by DaleiLama | Other clubs do it. Other clubs charge a lot more than we do at their grounds too! We still charge less at £22 for away fans to watch a game at our place than we have to pay to watch at most/all of theirs. £25 at Blackpool for example. Needs must imho. |
That was my point: just because other clubs charge X amount, should we? We've seen people post on here saying prices are too much in away ends. Is it not too much if it's their own club doing it? I refuse to accept that away fans are there as a revenue to be maximised more than home fans, it's completely against what football fans should wish for their fellow supporters. DDB: doesn't matter if it's a better stand, it's a seated stand down the side of the pitch, therefore the seated stand down the other side has to be the same price (unless rules have changed) That all said, we have ST that are very good value and areas of the ground that are still priced very competitively and yet allow fans to watch their local team at an affordable price. It'll be interesting to see what happens over the entire season and what patterns develop around those who pay on the day. Only then can the full impact of the pricing policy of a football club be properly assessed.

Add into the mix that some people would've been anticipating watching the 3rd day's play at Trent Bridge, and therefore not planning a day at Spotland... (edit: from before the start of the test match, I mean - and a lot of folk just won't change their plans!) It all adds up, and I reckon a 7.5% decrease in attendance from last year isn't just insignificant, but probably better than might be expected. [Post edited 10 Aug 2015 23:19]

Like DDB says, it was allegedly a 999 sell out, but Blackpool have given me the figure 997. Probably best to go with 998!

If they sold all 999 away tickets they cant say the away attendance is 997! Surely their takings will have to account for 999 sales? Especially when they seem to have counted season ticket holders in their overall attendance - whether they attended or didn't.

A lead for blackpool fans to get oyston, Fiddling the tax man by claiming we only sold 997 when actually it was a lock out

Yes but surely for financial purposes the away attendance should be the same as tickets sold - whether they made it to the away end or not.

It would if they're including their own non-attending ST holders in the figures, which seems highly likely

Do all home crowds of all clubs not include ST holders? Or does it vary with each club?

FAO TVOS on 22:47 - Aug 10 by D_Alien | Is there anyone who posts on this forum who didn't go due to the price increase? Not that factor and others (e.g. it was a nice day and wanted to spend some time with the family) - just that factor alone And if so, what did you do during the afternoon? It's not a case of being nosey or judgmental - just trying to ascertain to what extent the price increase actually made any difference, since this seems to be the crux of the discussion. I don't personally think it played such a big part, as opposed to other factors. |
I don't think the price does deter, but it's looking at it from the wrong angle. More pertinently, what would compel people to attend?

It wasn't a criticism. Season-tickets compel. All efforts should be aimed at selling more of them. Once you have the majority of all who are likely to go signed up, you have created a virtuous circle.

I know it wasn't a criticism, just a different point of view, which taken in the round and with a 360 degree perspective allows some kind of circle!

FAO TVOS on 18:51 - Aug 17 with 2784 views | AtThePeake | For what it's worth, I've decided to go to less games this year due to the price. But the jump has coincided with me no longer being eligible for the U22's priced ticket, which is unfortunate timing but fair. This started with the Coventry game last week (I'm aware that it was reduced price but with good reason for an unattractive game in the usually poorly-attended first round of that competition), as I felt that I couldn't justify paying £15 for the price given that I'm trying to move out and perhaps fund a trip to France for the Euros next year. I have to work some Saturdays and as a result, a season ticket is not a viable option. But then most weekends, nor is paying £22 for a third tier match. It's infuriating to know that I can get a ticket as an Under 23 at Bolton for £16 for example. Not that I'm going to go and watch Bolton instead cause I can get on for £6 cheaper, it's just knowing that I could watch a higher level of football for a smaller price is a little annoying. I love football and I love Rochdale but sometimes you have to prioritise. Paying £22 to watch every home game I can get to is not something I can really afford if I want to do other things so I'm going to have to pick and choose which games I attend this season.
