What has Monk & Co done to us??? 16:59 - Feb 1 with 22163 views | UplandsJack | At game today and oh my god we are SHIT!!! We are simply unrecognisable to the team of recent times... We are playing with a back 3 (as Taylor is cooking useless) And a front 2 of Gomis & Shelvey... Dyer might as well be at Home the use he is... We are just kicking the ball upfield and Giving away possession for them to attack again and again... 14% possession is an all time low for us while in PL... The only suprise so far is that we are still in in ( of sorts) as its 0-0... Let's hope the 2nd half offers us travelling Jacks a lot more!!!

Yes, but if you win a war of attrition, and you intended at the outset to win that way, is it a tactical masterclass?

What has Monk & Co done to us??? on 16:16 - Feb 3 by londonlisa2001 | I simply pointed out that your response appeared to address points that I hadn't made. You confirmed that to be the case. I didn't ignore any of the rest of it - I didn't feel that you said anything which hadn't already been said by your posts prior to my post, so saw no need to discuss it further that's all. I can only apologise if you had wanted to debate a specific point with me. You didn't appear to raise anything new? Perhaps I'm mistaken. |
Yes you did and i confirmed that SOME of the points were not in direct response to you. You did ignore it because you then went on to say none of my post was directed to what you had said, which isn't true now is it. You also brought up points that had been discussed previously, yet you think thats ok? Its a very odd set of debating perimeters you have, heavily weighted in your favour of course. But by all means read it again and actually reply to the content rather than drone on about how you feel I shouldn't have replied how i did... Because i did for a reason.

I've just had another read through (to be nice) and I still can't see what point you've made in terms of what I said in my original post that you hadn't previously made. So, I'm not sure what it is that you expect me to reply to?

What has Monk & Co done to us??? on 12:50 - Feb 3 by Parlay | Gomis' chance wasnt a good chance, they were getting the ball into our box at will and missed a load of headers. We could have been well and truly put to bed by half time on another day, and more often than not probably would have been. |
Yes it was. He set himself up well, and with a better connection would really have tested the keeper. They might have been getting the ball into the box, but we dealt with it well. I don't see how a team having one good chance means we could have truly been put to bed by half time. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

It wasnt. A good chance to me is a chance where the striker is expected to score. You seem to think it was a good chance because it had the potential to "test the keeper". Thats a half chance.

So apart from the chance they had early on, which other chances do you believe Southampton had where the striker was expected to score? Possibly I would say the one at the end that Pelle smashed about 20 feet over the bar, but apart from that I can't think of a chance where the striker would be expected to score?

The two cleared off the line, Pelles at the end and Ward Prowses shot. Thats just off the top of my head. That is 4 clear cut opportunities to our zero.

I don't think the two off the line you would have expected the striker to score (for a start it goes without saying that he could have only scored one of them). The other two I have mentioned.

Then you have low expectations of a Premier League footballer facing an open goal with a defender on the line. Yes you mentioned them and they were clear opportunities.

Yes but they didn't score off them, but what if Ward-Prowse's first effort had gone in, and he'd hit it more accurately and firmer. A goal! However, we may then have gone on to win, say, 3-1................All your talk is hypothetical, it has to be, because we won................0-1.

Don't even bother. Parley will only target something if he thinks he can run with it nowadays. In this instance it's interpreting Sundays match stats as he sees fit and brow beating Lisa in a semantic arguement.

I thought you said on the other thread how you look at things objectively and do not goad, or was that one of your posts you do time to time for an applause like a Rikki Lake audience member? How am I interpreting stats? where have i said Southampton didnt have 4 shots on target? I have correctly observed that we didnt create a single opportunity that we would be expected to score. Or do you think Shelvey will now be scoring from 30 yards every other shot week in week out? Goals like that are so special for a reason, that reason being that they dont often come off. So its safe to say if our game pan revolved around creating no clear chances while southampton created 4 clear chances, dominated possession, attacked at will from the flanks.... Dont you think that is a pretty crap game pan given the fact that the difference between the two teams isnt that big?

What has Monk & Co done to us??? on 13:35 - Feb 4 with 1204 views | dameedna | 3 chances for us - 1 Gomis, 2 for Shelvey 3 for Souths - double off the line to count as one it was not an even game, though but we scored one more and that was just enough the massive scramble near the end was nerve wracking and I have not see so many long clearances and touchline blasts from us for a while we can't play like that at home so let's see what that brings the one good thing is that most players will have gained some much needed confidence

I'm going to keep it short. At this point I don't care what you have to say on the matter because I've been able to work it out over the last 9 pages. We hit the post, Gomis went close and Jonjo scored yet you have continually nattered on like we didn't have any chances in the game. Thats it. Also you've berrated Lisa and argued semantics with her just to score points. You've reminded me of the person who makes loads of jokes in the tea room but can't wait to get to an industrial tribunal the second someone makes an off colour remark at their expense.

That game plan worked for Arsenal in the Etihad, which was lauded as one of their best away performances in many years. I'd imagine the stats are quite similar in both games, City dominated possession, attacked at will from the flanks etc. I can't recall Arsenal creating much that day, two goals, one a pen and one a poorly defended free kick, nothing other than that, I guess Arsene Wenger doesn't know what he's doing either? Sometimes, when you're away to a top team (and the Saints are at home), its not always about creating the chances, but stopping the opposing team converting theirs, which we did magnificently on Sunday, and then hoping for that bit of luck / magic to try and nick a win.

1) if we hit the bar from a goal kick. Would that constitute a clear chance? You cannot call an effort from 30 yards as a clear chance, im sorry but you just cant. 2) where have i berated Lisa? 3) where have i argued semantics? You remind me of that kid in the schoolyard who cries foul at every opportunity. By all means back up your claims. And also explain how a pot shot from 30 yards constitutes a good chance carved out.

Hello again Mr Lewis. You spend 1 hour 19mins and 10 seconds replying to my posts? Funny that you have never answered a single question i have put to you then isnt it? maybe you should take a course in time management? Now then. How am I a fraud? how am I a hypocrite? How am I charlatan? I will allow you the up my own ass one as i tend to agree and for good reason. Its easy to hector and abuse but less easy to back it up which is why you pretend to put me on ignore. We can only assume you are lying and bullying again if you cannot back up these claims. Thanks Richard.
