Jack To A King premiere in Cardigan tonight on 08:34 - Oct 4 with 2312 views | MoscowJack | At least two things don't make sense to me: 1. Why the fcuk would Mal Pope use Mad Mazza instead of Huw C, Phil S, Nigel Hamer or someone who actually physically raised money like old Ron? It doesn't make the film any less enjoyable for plastics, but the chance to get it right was just as easy an option. Mazza is a twisted and evil thing whose little hairy legs (hence only head-shots are ever shown of her) got herself as far away from the Trust when the cameras were off. When any REAL work needed doing, she grabbed her excuse of a husband and ran for the hills with her happy pills. If Mal Pope (is he related to Olivier Pope from Scandal?) had done a little bit of research, he could have got some incredible stories out of the people I've named above. I read Phil's book in two days last New Year - is that too much to ask of someone making a film about the Club? It would have given him some very good ideas of who to interview and certainly would have made the filum even better. 2. Why did Olivier Pope (as he's now known) ignore suggestions and advice from the Trust? This film is really an historic documentary and history SHOULD use ALL the facts....not just some of them. A story in itself is how the Trust evolved as the fame-seekers ran to the hills while a dozen or so sorted out the mess left behind. The only suggestion I've heard for Mad Mazza's inclusion in the filum is now starting to make more sense - is there something going on "behind the scenes" with Olivier Pope and Mad Mazza? Personally, I doubt it as Mad Mazza was never one to do any hard work behind the scenes - her buttons only got pressed when the camera turned up. A little like a porn star, if you like, but without the morals of one! Ps I remember the "scandal" (see what I did there?) with Anthill and Mad Mazza. Her submission to his comical fanzine was absolutely the most boring read since anything beginning with.... "In 1927...". Poor Murph was so polite about it, but the abuse he got was horrendous. I think he eventually let the public decide - as there were only about 500 real fans on the interweb back in those days, it didn't take long to dial-up, download and fall asleep reading it. Yet Olivier Pope chose HER as "the face of the Trust". She must give one hell of a blow job when he teeth are out. Yet Olivier Pope saw it more fitting to highlight her efforts rather than someone like Richard Lillicrap who was the complete opposite of her. He spent hundreds of hours helping the Trust, getting advice from Trust HQ (Supporters Direct?) and eventually, one our storm had died, went on to help many other clubs. Supporters Direct even named an annual award after him and I don't remember him on his knees trying to get his face on TV....in fact, it was quite the opposite.....he hated any form of praise or recognition. I didn't know Rich anywhere near as well as many others, but I often think of him when I look at how far we've come since his passing. He would be so proud now and I as I write this, I can hear him laughing from here - for those who knew him, you know what I mean. Rant over...... [Post edited 4 Oct 2014 9:29]

The more I read of it the more it makes JTAK seem more like a propaganda/marketing piece than a genuine document of the events.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

The release of the DVD is nothing to do with the commercial dept and Maldwyn said the other night the Boxing Day date is not confirmed. He also said that lots of footage that ended up on the cutting room floor could appear on a bonus disc.

Well now I've seen the film made by the directors about themselves I think the current content is enough. All it will be is more enhanced glorified rubbish about the board. And with all due respects enough is enough. Bonus footage ? No thanks.

Can anyone who has seen the film elaborate on that particular part of the film? Who talks about it? Who did it? etc.

Sad thing is Al you can shout as much as you like they wont listen. I only ever heard of Richard from people on here and the others conveniently forgotten about a year ago, as I have explained before I spent time abroad, this meant Ijust followed results for a few years and hoped, and I am simply appalled no mention was made of him. A self fulfilling film by the board,it stinks. [Post edited 11 Oct 2014 12:00]

Jack To A King premiere in Cardigan tonight on 02:19 - Oct 4 by RuDeMan1970 | Neath has always been overwhelmingly black and white - apart from the Caewern estate. Port Talbot was always more of an equal split when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s but does now seem to becoming more Swans than Cardiff....AND LONG MAY THAT CONTINUE |
Port Talbot an equal split ? When ? Thing is there are a handful of them running about like ants and bullying young swans fans, that is as I have said until its equal or they are outnumbered. They always have been bully's, but equal numbers , sorry mate I do not think so.

I don't speak with any authority at all but it seems to me that Richard lived outside of the city, and this whole thing is about Swansea based people, it really is sickening to me, in fact there seems to a number of hard working individuals from outside of the city who did such a lot in the first place that has been completely overlooked. Maybe people from outside the city walls who follow Swansea and educating people about things regards the club and the rogues who ran it for some years is embarrassing to them ? These fraudsters were on their doorsteps ruining SCFC and it took folk from away to enthuse everyone and do the early dirty work, so clearly forgotten now. They earned millions on the back of it you would have thought they would acknowledge the supporters and groups who educated Swans fans to get us to the stage whereby the board could form. And most certainly Richard. I'm so angry about this, and Richard is dead now he cant speak his piece and from what I've read he would be humble anyway. I'm calling on the board to acknowledge the real fans who saved our club, but will they ?

RL's involvement in getting the trust off the ground was pivotal for the club. He used to live in Kingston on Thames and went to every home and away match while we were a shambles on and off the pitch. Richard and his partner Jenny i think printed fliers and even took a table to some away matches to get fans signed up to the trust. I remember a midweek match at York City he was in a pub and was canvassing the away support of the importance of getting the trust off the ground. I also remember we played Southend away when Matt Bound had his issues and walked out Richard was out there getting fans interested in the trust. Probably the saddest issue of it all he never got to see us back in the prem for all his hard work over the years. Very decent guy who played down everything he did personally for the bigger cause and was a good mate on many away trips either by car or train.

Haven't seen the film yet so can't comment on the content, but can comment on Richard. He was passionate about our Trust and was more than happy to spend his spare time helping other clubs starting theirs. I'll add an away night game at Mansfield where he went around asking people to join our Trust. Like you I remember him as a person who just got on with things in his own way, a shame that he hasn't had the recognition. You can add others I suppose, in those early days, but the people who knew Richard will always remember and be thankful for all his efforts

It must be his double that I chat to at The Liberty. And he was there in the mid 80s, raising cash when we were in the hands of the receiver. People should be wary of condemning others from their keyboards. Only The Swans are all black and white.

Indeed. So critical for how our club was saved and then thrived, and to be airbrushed out of the film was quite shameful I thought. So were others as well in fairness. The role of Mel Nurse is pretty much washed over. Shame really, as the truth was better than fiction.

Jack To A King premiere in Cardigan tonight on 23:59 - Oct 11 with 1190 views | murph | To be fair....... I do believe Marilyn Croft was voted onto the Trust Board as the Swansea City Trust Media Representative when the Trust was founded. She was in fact elected as such during one of the first Trust meetings, which I attended (in Mansleton Community Centre I think) Me, Kev Cooze and Tom attended the first one or two Trust meetings (the first was at the Builders. Where else? :-] ) We attended only as interested parties from the fanzines. We realised, as did most people, that the Trust was the only viable way to go at that time and we just wanted to be up to date and report it as best we could in MOL and Jackseye. I met Richard L. several times, he was a nice, tidy, very motivated bloke, to simply write that he was passionate about the Swans (and the Trust) is a vast understatement. RIP mate. murph [Post edited 12 Oct 2014 0:00]
