Those of you from the town may wish to know that - according to Facebook - John Allwood has passed away.

I think most of the town will have known John in one capacity or another and he was one of the great characters I remember from growing up. He was as hard as nails, but I always found him great with me as a youngster and I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. RIP John.
