Favourite Alcoholic Drinks on 22:35 - Jul 12 with 3170 views | CamberleyR | Any real ales, have always liked Fuller's ales, London Pride, ESB and very occasionally if wanting something stronger in the style of a barley wine, Golden Pride. The Hog's Back brewery which is reasonably local to me in Tongham also do some good beers, Hop Garden Gold and Rip Snorter just two. In summer I like a nice still, vintage cider or perry when it's hot. Not much of a spirits drinker but when I do it's Irish whiskey, usually Bushmills single malt.

Washes down a few San Miguels perfectly! My favourite beer moment was having a pint of Kingfisher after walking around Delhi for the day in 40 degrees.
Favourite Alcoholic Drinks on 23:05 - Jul 12 with 3151 views | 100percent | I'm 18 years sober now - ironically this year was a water shed moment as I realised that I had been not drinking as long as I had been drinking - if that makes sense. I don't miss it as much as I used to early doors, but sometimes - most times - I really yearn for a light and bitter - a nice bottle of light ale and half a pint of Ben Trumans.... Funnily enough, I don't miss the lagers at all and there are a lot of drinks in the market now that I've never actually tasted, Also a proper gin and tonic - sometimes I get the whiff of a good gin and it really makes my day. glad to see that you all enjoy your alcohol....... b'stards... ha ha.......
Favourite Alcoholic Drinks on 01:42 - Jul 13 with 3121 views | SomersetHoops | I went to Pitfest tonight in Pitney a village near Langport and drunk 5 pints of Monkey Love an ale from near Gastonbury. It went down very well with musc from bands such as Ciderbelly, Zetheus and D-State. Keep music live and ale real.

Favourite Alcoholic Drinks on 02:13 - Jul 13 with 3115 views | karl | Red wine, mainly Spanish and more often Rioja at home but out for a night in the pubs then I used to drink Youngers Tartan Special which is very hard to find now unfortunately (I have drunk this in London and it was a totally different drink to the one in Scotland for some reason) so I usually make do with a pint of 70 shilling which is a gassier version of bitter I think
Favourite Alcoholic Drinks on 02:19 - Jul 13 with 3115 views | BrazilNutR | Oohhh.. Since I have been in Brazil, and getting older...I really crave real ale.. can~t wait to get back home in a couple of weeks and have a proper pint or five.. A good pint of guiness is something I miss as well.. Here, i had a Caipirinha last week that was the best I~ve ever had, made with three different types of Lemon and it blew me away... But in general i am a beer man. Most of the Brazilian beer is rubbish, all made with corn, and pretty tasteless...goes down easily enough as they are obsessed with serving beer as cold as humanly possible... yesterday I had to send a bottle back as it was half ice... which is not a bad thing in the hot weather..
Favourite Alcoholic Drinks on 03:31 - Jul 13 with 3109 views | DylanP | Newcastle Brown Ale. If that's not available, then any real ale. At a pinch, I go for Sam Adams Boston Lager. As for liquor, I start with bourbon. There are also days that call out for Baileys.

seen some nice people ruined by excess drink, pleasure for me is moderation, Monday night footie down the pub and occasional swelly when a decent band are playing down the local
Favourite Alcoholic Drinks on 08:43 - Jul 13 with 3046 views | Toast_R | Any premium lager like Heineken, Peroni (although desirable here in Italy it's considered truckers beer) not too keen on San Miguel. Lidls do some good German beers and occasionally do a 5L mini keg of Pilsner which is great. If it's a long day then Fosters or whatever cos I won't lie, the Premium stuff dissolves my memory if I have too much. When I get beered out I usually go for a decent Cognac. Did the Hennessey tour in this May in the town of Cognac and got to try the xo bloody expensive blend which was amazing.

Favourite Alcoholic Drinks on 09:17 - Jul 13 with 3026 views | BrianMcCarthy | Guinness by a mile, but only if it's good. Peroni or San Miguel if not. Don't enjoy the taste of anything from the top shelf or a wine bottle, so don't go near them. Don't like cider, ale or bitter either.

Really into reds at the moment. Nice Shiraz or on a summers evening a nice Pinot noir. Can't do big nights on beers anymore.... Shame.

Wow! Does barley wine still exist? I remember getting absolutely hammered on the stuff on our school leaving bash in a local pub in Sussex back in the day. Woke up in a neighbours flower bed the next day, in their back garden, mistaking their place for mine. I was covered in puke. Never touched the stuff or looked for it since.

Favourite Alcoholic Drinks on 10:05 - Jul 13 with 3011 views | RBrum | @Lblock: Kasteel Cru was amazing stuff - beer with champagne yeast. Sadly discontinued. I used to work at the brewer that owned the brand. Never sold well - was never marketed properly. I had some of the last crates ever. Peroni - now that's the other way round. Average beer, great font and glass.
Favourite Alcoholic Drinks on 10:10 - Jul 13 with 3008 views | johann28 | Excellent thread. 1) Real Ale - fabulous range these days. Favourites include Harveys (Sussex), Jennings (Cumbria) and Adnams (Suffolk). Great with cheese too :) 2) Belgian Trappist ales, especially Rochfort 10 or Kastelbier Donker. Wonderfully strong (typically between 7-10%) and dark. Make sure you know your way home. 3) A German one called Spaten Optimator. Quite the best thing in Munich. 4) Wine - like others here have a fondness for Malbec, but most Chilean Reds, New Zealand whites, nice dry rose in summer. 5) Brandy - served (of course) warm in a pre-heated glass. Some places now put ice in it, which makes me quite angry.
Favourite Alcoholic Drinks on 12:34 - Jul 13 with 2951 views | BlackCrowe | At home: red wine in winter, rose or white in the summer. Henneys cider on occasion. At pub: Ale - Tribute, Pride, Youngs, Doom Bar On a mission: vodka cranberry, caiparinhas Sophis moments: desert-dry sherry with a lump of ice, cosmopolitan, calvados. Hope this helps.

Christ alive! I didnt know it had been discontinued.. that is a crying shame I remember being at a mates wedding reception and it was a free bottled beer bar but you could only have bottles of Carlseberg and I spied Kasteel in the fridge. Within 30 minutes everyone was paying to drink the stuff and they ran out by 6.00pm A bit of me died today hearing this...

Favourite Alcoholic Drinks on 13:20 - Jul 13 with 2919 views | Drewster | Birra Moretti Peroni Estrella And a summer treat - Fruli strawberry beer on draft. And if it's wine Chianti Classico Nothing from a can as a rule if I can help it. Stayed at this lovely pub in the Peak District with work last week and gutted that the only thing on draft was Fosters. Trouble with lager it's like liquid cake. I have it a miss for 2 weeks recently and lost 3 kg in that time.

Favourite Alcoholic Drinks on 16:17 - Jul 12 by AgedR | Bitter for me, although there have been some fine largess mentioned. Until Charlie Wells bought out Youngs, with Fullers, we were fortunate to have two world class local breweries. Youngs Special was a thing of tremendous beauty and Fullers ESB (or 'num num') as my Dad calls it, is still a fantastic pint. The Adelaide does a pint of Hoops. It's not great, but, it's nice to have a pint named after us. Anyone know the brewer? |
Used to work opposite the Youngs Brewery in Wandsworth back in the day. Had many a night on a Ramrod Special, can't remember many of them though.....
