FAO The anti-monk brigade 19:37 - May 6 with 11065 views | Jackfath | Hello. I would like to pose these questions to you. Could you tell me what your opinion was when the board were about to and indeed did appoint both Brendan Rogers and Roberto Martinez? Did you at that time, have the same amount of belief that they were clearly not the men for the job? I await your responses with eager anticipation.

FAO The anti-monk brigade on 20:13 - May 6 with 980 views | DwightYorkeSuperstar | I don't understand the Laudrup hate. He came in and delivered arguably the best season in the clubs history. As with Sousa, he came in and we finished 1 place better than we did under the previous manager, Roberto Martinez.

FAO The anti-monk brigade on 20:15 - May 6 with 970 views | swanduck | I personally don't see myself as anti-Monk, I do not think he is the best choice for us by some stretch though so i guess that is good enough. A bit like Dwight I was a bit too young to have much of an informed opinion on either Martinez'/Brendan's appointments, but certainly with Martinez I believe I would have been worried but not as worried as the appointment of Monk has made me, as we were in league 1 and relegation wouldn't cost us millions of pounds. The club is in the best position it has been in in years, it would break my heart to see things fall apart and for the PL dream to end. I feel that is more likely to happen with a manager with zero experience at the helm, if that makes me part of the anti-Monk brigade then so be it. I will obviously support him but by no stretch of the imagination is he my ideal candidate.

I've no idea why anyone would "hate" Laudrup. As you rightly pointed out, he was responsible for the most successful season this club has ever had. Sousa did a job but should be less revered. I spent most of that season bored out of my tiny mind. Again though, he doesn't deserve contempt.

Watching many of our games under Garry reminded me of the Sousa season. Watching our players venture forward looking completely devoid of any structure or idea of how to attack, wondering how we are going to score a goal.

You obviously did not watch us under Sousa for you to make that comparison. Laughable.

Nope, can't agree with that in any way, shape or form. I can't for the life of me see how the performances we've put in under Monk can in any way be compared to those under Sousa. Like comparing apples and pears. Unless of course you want to make a spurious and trite comparison just to further your "Monk is not the man" credentials. In which case, as you were. ETA - now that I've thought about it for a few more minutes I find myself chuckling at the absolute stupidity of the comparison. Jumped the shark there you have, Dwighty boy. You need some more lessons from Fathy about keeping your wind ups on the right sight of credible.

FAO The anti-monk brigade on 20:25 - May 6 with 882 views | Musical_Swan | No offence meant, but it's no surprise that two fans who openly admit not really knowing too much about the Martinez/Sousa/Rogers eras are so against Monk. Seems that you've been spoilt by the appointment of a 'big name'.

FAO The anti-monk brigade on 20:29 - May 6 with 846 views | ItchySphincter | The Sousa spell was a very important time in our development, I'll always stand by that. People seem to believe we went from Martinez to Rodgers. fact is, Martinez's side couldn't defend for toffee, Brendan's was one of the meanest, we have Sousa to thank for that. Plus he got the players doing keep ball before Rodgers - Brendan added an attack but the style of play was there. Re the OP, when Martinez was appointed I took the same attitude as I have now - be positive and hope.
