Redknapp quotes on Faurlin. 16:03 - Mar 20 with 7148 views | simmo | http://t.co/eWLycTiZFx I am warning you 'Arry you wheeler dealer cnt. You can mess with my club, sign has-beens, field shite players and poor benches to prove your own points. You can be a parody of a man, attract neutral fans to dislike us and spend your time being the self serving blameless old bstard you've become. But don't you dare fck with the darling of Loftus Road - Ale Faurlin. I hope the board give him a new contract and he comes back, preferably into a team you no longer manage, and shows everybody what somebody that 'gets' QPR is all about. Prick.

Redknapp quotes on Faurlin. on 09:50 - Mar 21 with 1248 views | Hunterhoop | Posts crossed then, I think Dave. I'll drop you a PM, but honestly that wasn't/isn't the issue. Everything I've said is based purely on what has been discussed and argued. I agree about the whole fanbase overreacting about things one way or another. I think we all do. And an online forum is the worst for it. Equally I'm not someone who always is "against" the manager. I think hardly anyone is. I loved Ollie and Warnock. I detested Hughes and dislike Redknapp. Different mangers, different opinions based on their actions, approach, words, etc. More than happy for us to have different opinions but the original point was how you seem to take one of those 3 stances (4 if you include Antti's) with regard to any thread about Redknapp. You ALWAYS defend him and my whole original point is that it's becoming silly because those three stances are flawed in the way I described sometimes. In this instance I understand the two different articles, but even reading the "good" one still shows Harry to either be crass and stupid or not very nice. He is right in that there's a lot of doubt as to whether Ale will recover. Huge doubt. But he's not a pundit on a sofa giving his thoughts, he's the bloke's f*cking boss!! He should, no matter what he thinks inside, public Ally support the bloke by saying he has no doubt he'll recover. Even in the "good" article Redknapp brings into question doubt. That is poor man management in my view. As I said, don't know if it's deliberate or not, hence the either stupid or really not very nice comment. I can't understand, and have yet to have it explained, how people can read the quotes in either article and think it's a reasonable thing to say with regard to one if his one players.

Redknapp quotes on Faurlin. on 09:38 - Mar 21 by daveB | Well he said "Ale will come back fine — he’s strong and a good lad with a good attitude" but that appears to have been ignored. Faurlin has said nothing since Barton, Austin, Fernandes and others tweeted him to say the story was nonsense. I understand why he went off on one but he wouldn't have to go off on one if Fernandes or Beard had given him a new deal and made him feel wanted, |
But that wasn't all he said though, Dave. That's the point, he ALSO brought doubt into. You know that. You going back to that "boxing historian" approach of only taking part of the quote and ignoring the bit others have issue with. I know you didn't want Harry originally but you do always defend him, sometimes justifiably and sometimes perversely in my opinion. When the latter, I enter into a debate on it. Completely agree about the lack of new deal being a major issue in exacerbating things. Another reason why, as his boss, Redknapp should have been more careful.

I know that wasn't all he said but the negative bit seems to be highlighted but not that bit where he said he will come back which i find a bit unfair. I don't think I always defend Redknapp but in this case I don't think this is anywhere near as bad as is being made out and it's turned into something far bigger than it needed to be. I'll leave it now as it's getting a bit dull and just agree to disagree on it.

Redknapp quotes on Faurlin. on 21:11 - Mar 20 by kensalriser | The ad hominem attacks on Redknapp are getting absurd, not to mention highly tiresome. I'm certainly no fan of the football this season, but making the manager the devil incarnate is just silly. |
He turned me into a newt (I got better).

Turned around so fast his eyes are still spinning. Still a new contract for Faurlin is a good thing. Hopefully he can come back and get back to his best. We miss him a hell of a lot.

Redknapp quotes on Faurlin. on 16:32 - Mar 20 by Northernr | Yeh it's been spun two very different ways. Still, Faurlin seems stirred by it. His mum, apparently, said: "How can you even go and say something like that. You are the least professional man my son ever had in his career. Ale will be back" I was just thinking we could do with another sht storm.

Redknapp quotes on Faurlin. on 13:39 - Mar 21 with 1041 views | BrianMcCarthy | Entirely avoidable if Redknapp just cheered up a bit and exuded some support and positivity. I agree with one of Hunter's main points in this thread when he says that few managers in ny walk of life would even think of doubting their colleague in such a way - there is just no need to say or no good in saying these things out loud. I'm a manager. When I go in to see my boss, we talk about my colleagues. I know, like all who sat in my seat before me knew, that there in one rule - you deal with it internally and stay schtum in front of the bosses. Redknapp treats the media like his boss. He does hisnegotiations through them, his pleading, his explaining, his whinging. Redknapp has no such truck with discretion. To stay schtum would be to miss a trick. Having said that, I still don't think Redknapp meant any harm. He's just dour and pessimistic and woe-is-me fatal in front of the media. Now, he has apparently spoken to Beard to make sure Faurlin gets a contract. Naturally, he has. And the very public sight of him whirling around nose to tail like a bull that's stepped in a wasp's nest is another unbecoming and unneccessary QPR PR farce.

All true, Brian. But, if Faurlin does get a contract, and it is actually down to Redknapp pushing for it, then fair play to him. At least he wasn't stubborn about it all.

We'll never know now what his intentions towards Faurlin were, Hunter, or even if he and Beard had spoken about it earlier this week. Unfortunately, Redknapp's credibility is very low. Cerainly it is with me. I can't help thinking that they may have only spoken about it this morning prior to the press conference, their situation forced by this latest faux pas. Incidentally, if I were Beard I wouldn't appreciate the implication that Redknapp was the good guy in this:- “I spoke to [chief executive] Philip Beard this week about giving him another year’s contract,” he said. And Beard is, what? The nasty executive who had to be told? Only words, maybe, but words matter to people. As this morning illustrates yet again. Again, if it were a decent man-manager and a team player speaking that line would read "we have spoken about it within the club and we are determined to a man to offer Ale an extension, and that will happen very soon, and will be richly deserved". Either way, it's good news for Faurlin, even if it leaves a faint sour taste all 'round.

Dream on drongo! The club may have taken the scenic route to get there but all's well that ends well (fingers crossed). [Post edited 21 Mar 2014 15:09]
