Mike, I hope that you will not be offended hearing advice from me, but I do have experience with this.
The resolution is far beyond "don't let it bother you." If you can do it, wear the down arrows like a badge of honour, as they come from people whose approbation you wouldn't want anyway, or if you can't, just ignore them.

No he isn't but one day just before our biggest match of the season is probably worth a fortnight in May, isn't it?
