The hand of fortune – Report
at 08:12 6 Feb 2025

Good read that.

Not often I’m disappointed when a ref blows for full time when we are winning , but I really enjoyed the game itself .
I thought we fully deserved the win

Very good point.

Only really Travis with any sort of dark arts but I’d expect nothing less.

One of the many things in modern football that irritates me these days is the amount of time all teams , including us , take to get back into position after they score. Sometimes it’s ages and refs don’t crack down on it . Last night Blackburn celebrated together then jogged as a team back to their own half . Not seen that for many a year . Fair play

My sofa at home is quicker than Frey , but I think he’s bloody great . He’s an absolute handful but has a great touch too. I’m a big fan .

Had a customer in today who said he has just fitted Frey’s cctv in his new house .
He said both he and his wife are lovely , humble and genuine people . Couldn’t praise them enough .
I love that

Some good posts PS, Simmo and everyone else .

He is very robotic and emotionless . Apart from the flicker after he scored at Luton (credit where it’s due) there is just nothing to him or his game . Get angry. Be happy . Smash someone up in the air but show something .
I often voice my opinions on here and sometimes realise I see football through the prism of the past.
I’ve been criticised for being too harsh on Madsen on here . Maybe that’s the case.
However I do know when a player is hiding . I see it with Madsen and the longer this season has gone on the more he has disappeared into nothingness. I thought Dozzell was bad .

Now, what I hope is happening is that MC has taken him out of the firing line and just told him to watch and learn (he is still fairly young) , train hard and start to see what he can do to adapt to this league, because whether I or anyone else has ‘given up’ on him ( I certainly haven’t ) is irrelevant, the club cannot afford to do so . Unless we get a bid similar to what we paid and that is highly unlikely .
As I’ve said before there is certainly a player in there . But the desire , passion and fire has to come from within him first and foremost .

Certainly wasn’t me, but in fairness the criticism was more that he had not played much and certainly not with these players so it was always going to be disjointed at Leicester .

Last night though…he was just so superior to anybody else out there as the OP states.
Not just the way he kept striding forward with the ball but his reading of the game and his tenacity and accuracy in every challenge or one on one .

It’s a bold move by Southampton and an understandable one to get him games for next season but he plays like this every week until May, Sheffield United for example , presuming they go up might take a punt on him instead as he looks more than capable of adapting to that level in the near future

Match Thread: Blackburn tonight
at 07:22 5 Feb 2025

Still buzzing this morning . Really enjoyed the game and it’s not often I feel disappointed that the ref blows for full time when we are winning .
I thought it was certainly one of our better performances this season and I think 3-1 would not have been flattering . Will save the appraisal for the Edwards thread but he was just head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch .
Surprised to see Jimmy play but I thought he did really well considering what went on in the previous 24 hours .
Great to see us more aggressive all over the pitch especially in the first half. Frey was tremendous first half too.
Mad to think that only 9 weeks ago we were bottom . We just need to keep picking up points with some tough looking games coming . Last night was huge to stop any sort of slide or bad run.

On a side note these little video clips , by all clubs make me squirm, including ours.

The Burnley one with Ross from friends literally wants to make me vomit blood

Initially disappointed that he remains with the Dev squad for now but it’s a sensible move .
Let him adapt and grow.
Should have done the same with Heverton Santos although he is a fair bit older .

Not sure. I think they may take both .

£2m and Femi Sirike perhaps ?

Time is ticking though for sure

Apologies . The above is when you spend time making a considered and thought out reply and press send and you then realise the tube you are on is now underground .
Idiot.

Anyway , good report Clive

More and more ‘reports’ suggesting Nourry now demanding £3m, which simply won’t happen.
Ballsy move . But could backfire as £2m shouldn’t be sniffed at in our current situation.

I do like the thought of taking the approach of ‘ if you are going to disrupt our season then you will have to pay for it ‘.

Just don’t think they’ll go for that and the risk of upsetting JD.
Don’t see Dunne downing tools or anything though . Just can’t see that

He could of course be in negotiations to join someone , Sheffield United perhaps , in the summer and still be with us until May? Because of ongoing negotiations maybe he was left out yesterday but not because he is leaving in the next 48 hours?
Unlikely , but it might be the case .
Going for nothing is worse in my opinion

I thought he was pretty decent too . Could have been closer for the first goal but so should everybody . Didn’t see him do too much else wrong and yes, our left back drove me crackers yesterday .
He had a shocker I thought .

As I said previously , if the more experienced players in the team don’t turn up , and that happened yesterday , then you ain’t going to win many football matches .
