But more positively the last (and under McNulty only) time we have won back to back in the league (without a home game in between) was when we beat Southend on the last day of last season. Our next away game was at Boston which we won 3-0, the first game of this season.
Note the Liverpool St to Prittlewell line is rail replacement buses, so if your planning to go by train, it’s the Fenchurch St line to Southend Central. [Post edited 14 Feb 12:41]

Very much a case of two points dropped. Rodney missed a couple of great chances, yet again we are so risk averse in the final third it’s just bizarre. Subs were negative and then too late. Jim just looks like he doesn’t know what he’s doing. Southend get fantastic support we can only dream of, but my oh my their ground is getting so bad now and their team is the worst Southend team I’ve ever seen. | | | |

Similar happened last season at this stage too. It is indeed baffling and another reason why McNulty brings pressure on himself.
I think we’ve got four games against the teams above us, will probably need to win three of them. Wednesday is probably the biggest match of McNulty’s reign. |  |

Southend made little use of the possession we afforded them. Thought Beckwith had a poor game by his high standards. Neither keeper was worked hard enough for either side to deserve the victory.
Hogan had a sound game and didn’t deserve the OG against him. Mitchell also put in a shift, but Gilmour would be our MoM for me.
We are so inconsistent we are struggling to have an identity. Still think we will get a play off place because the stats show we win more than we loose.

Didn't see the game today so relying on my mates report driving back. He says that we were the better team by some distance for about 70 minutes...until they made a triple substitution, and Jim looked puzzled. They then pressed our midfield and defence, and we sat back looking increasingly nervous and making comedy errors. Our subs were (once again) like for like and too late.
The 90th minute introduction of Henderson (when we had missed several chances that he would eat for breakfast) is disrespectful to our leading goalscorer.

Failure to utilise Hendo's class in seeking the playoffs whilst parading him in meaningless fixtures against youth teams is the kind of utter bollocks that would be enough - on its own - to deserve the sack
It's as if it's some kind of arrangement, but Hendo is on a wage and if reports of him hanging up his boots in a couple of months are correct, he needs to be front and centre (literally) of the remaining games [Post edited 15 Feb 18:43]

You looked a very organised team and in the first half we were lucky to hang in there. Second half we got at you more and bit be bit we were competing on equal terms. Although Macauley Bonne (our No 9) didn't score when he came on, he did worry the blazes out of your defence to the point that he forced the OG. We are a team still in progress so a point today was welcome. Roots Hall will take a fair bit more work before it is great again, but the Consortium are ploughing a fair amount of dosh in to making it fit for purpose.
