I’m not asking about the value of Sainsbury’s shares or the cost of a pound of cheese. Chants at a club say a lot about its fan base. And that makes it relevant on a Swansea City forum. I’m hoping that I misheard it. Because childish stuff has been chanted for generations it doesn’t make it right or acceptable. Not in this crazy current world where you can’t say boo to a goose without it seeking legal advice. And the goose lets legal aid too. 😂 |

A manager ( whether it’s Ferguson, Wenger, Guardiola, Clough ) can’t legislate for the type of error that Darling made. Watch it back. That would not be a good look for a local under 7s team. The game was heading for a 0-0. A poor performance and as for entertainment value it was a 3/10 but players must take full responsibility at relevant times. An awful error and the result of a casual attitude. Darling is a talented player who might go to another level but presently he’s not in a good frame of mind … |

I’m hoping that my ears were deceiving me last night Did I really hear that being chanted when a Sheff Weds player was injured? If so was it just good natured humour? Possibly banter? Or people with a sheep mentality? It really needs to stop. As do any references to England. |

Luke hasn’t been getting support. Our player recruitment hasn’t been good enough and hopefully things will start to improve. We still need another three wins and a couple of draws to stay in the league. That’s the priority and then they can re-evaluate at the end of the season. From the top we are in a mess. I’d be looking at my options if I was Luke. Back to the original point about the Trust, they’re history. On the periphery of things to keep the natives on side. |
![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Reply | Swans Trust at 22:15 12 Feb 2025
I think you’ll find that the Trust have virtually no say in what’s going on at the club in terms of key decisions of this nature. Which is probably a good thing. If you want a ten pin bowling night arranged though ….. On the gsme tonight we weren’t very good of course but arguably just deserved a 0-0. Darlings mistake was dreadful. Casual, sloppy and he looks to me as though he doesn’t want to be here. Same in his last game where his red card also cost us. |

I was walking alongside him and I assume his wife at Rome airport on Sunday lunch time . He looked a broken man. He was clearly embarrassed and his body language said a lot. The players too seemed despondent and that change was needed. There’s a lot wrong with Welsh Rugby but he had to go. It’s gone stale and he knew that although he’s given it his best shot he was no longer the right man for the job. The support for welsh rugby is still there. An estimated 20000 in Rome. But I’d ditch the four regions so that the clubs can get full support again. |
![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Reply | Grimes at 22:14 29 Jan 2025
Lampard played alongside and against the best midfielders in the world. He knows what makes a team tick and unlike you he understands the need for the right balance in a team. Players like Grimes who can keep possession and calmly take the pressure off in more of an holding role are integral to good sides. Lampard may or may not turn into a very good manager. He’s had his moments but time will tell. But in terms of his judgement of a player qualities and what he ( Grimes ) can and will bring to a midfield area there is no better judge than Lampard in this instance. In the same way I would prefer to listen to the views of Alan Shearer than you in terms of what makes a good striker. |

So a former world class midfield player in Frank Lampard rates Matty Grimes highly enough to believe that he will improve their team and yet some people on PLANETSWANS most of whom haven’t ever kicked a football don’t rate him 😂 I think that says it all. But just to add: the majority of people with a football brain will understand what he brings to a team. He makes what he does look easy as Britton did. Not as good as Britton but with a better range of passing it must be said. Good luck to him. He’s served our club well. Hardly missed a game for 8/9 seasons. Earned good money but hes deserved it. It’s the right time for him to move on … |

A good ownership model at a football Club is key and absolutely crucial We have been seriously short in this department and therefore struggling for many years now Through the measured committed hard work of our managers and staff we have been able to be more than competitive at Championship level. With Potter, Martin, Cooper and now Williams we have more than held our own. You do sense now that we are entering some turbulence that might be too tricky to safely navigate and it all stems from the top. It’s so easy to blame a manager when often their hands are tied either partly or completely. These are tough times. It’s not the Swansea City we knew sadly. I’m hoping to see a few new players in over the next week which will give everyone a boost to see out the season. We aren’t safe yet. That’s for sure. And then hopefully we can see some support for our manager whether that’s Luke or as seems more likely someone else. |

Well done Merthyr. It’s the best outcome for them. League Two is a long way off but it’s a dream and it’s achievable. They’re getting good crowds. |

No not a Trust member. And not a coward either actually. The Trust made mistakes, we know that. But with their 21% shareholding in Swansea City they did not deserve to be treated in the way they were ( kept right out of sales talks until late in the day ). I’m not going all over it again as you’ll bore everyone senseless but you can I’m sure see that they should have been involved from day one. They had done enough to earn that. The fact that they weren’t says a lot about the people who excluded them. Over and out on this subject from me . |

Dull as a brush. Got lucky at Swansea and consequently did well for a time but a legend in his own lunchtime he has pissed on his chips with the way they handled the sale. He’s history now but L the streets will not forget … |

I think you’ll find that they wouldn’t I watched it. A committed effort with tackles flying in, huffing and puffing but in reality with little quality apart from some good left wing play from 35 year old McClean. Characterised by a lump number 9 for Wrexham who was a mobile roundabout. Absolutely terrible I think I could have marked him out of the game at 62. 😂 |
![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Reply | Morgan Whittaker at 18:33 23 Jan 2025
You’ve chosen to tell only half a story as you tend to when you’re trying to make a point For balance and accuracy you might want to try to explain your findings Professionals of the ilk of Angel Rangel and Ferrie Bodde were happy to give their club, Swansea, their full respect by always giving 100% to the cause regardless of interest and a possible move to other clubs falling through The significant difference with Whittaker is there for all to see and he’s still playing those games. He’s a big time Charlie at least in his own head he is and is well known for his attitude problems which he showed when at Swansea. Martin wasn’t going to pander to his throwing toys out of the pram approach and wanted him to man up. After a few years of growing up he’s still got a long way to go. Doubtless someone like Burnley will take a punt on him as they did with Obafemi. |
![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Reply | Harry Darling red card appeal ? Who is the football administrator ? Is that Andy at 16:03 23 Jan 2025
Darling has shown that he’s an outstanding centre back. Good on the ball, comfortable in possession and can stride forward to bring the ball confidently out of defence he’s an excellent Championship defender. But he’s also capable and prone to moments where he can let himself ( and consequently ) the team down. His rash decision making can be costly. He didn’t need to make that tackle on Brewster on Tuesday. On halfway there was no need for it. Pointless appealing. Debatable red card and harsh but he gave the referee a decision to make. He knows that you cannot lunge in like that. When you say “pull out all the stops? “ It depends what you mean? His salary requirements might be excessive. In which case he’ll go. We don’t want to lose him as he’s going to get even better but this is the new Swansea City. It’s a different animal now. |

We were very good in the first half. Their 3 half time changes brought them to life and of course Darling red card changed the whole complexion of the game. What was he sent off for as I couldn’t see from where I was? The commitment was there and we kept going which of course is the minimum requirement but the game was spoiled by the referee to an extent. |

I’m looking forward to the game tomorrow. Our home form of late has been decent. I’m hoping that we can compete with them and to get forward and in numbers when we get the chance. We are 7 points off the play offs and 8 away from relegation places. With four winnable home games to complete our season I still see is finishing around 13-16th which will be reasonable. I don’t want to see pride and passion and commitment from all of our players. We started quite well at Cardiff for 30 minutes or so. After that it wasn’t good enough was it. A few of our lads owe us a performance. |

But there have been lots of encouraging displays. Training wasn’t boring that week was it? As recently as 3/4 weeks ago v QPR for example. Against A QPR team that no one else could beat over 12/13 games. Training can be boring. Many pros don’t enjoy it. Luke alone doesn’t take training sessions. There’s a coaching team there. Players need to behave like the highly paid professional footballers that they are. They need to regroup and get their act together. They have a responsibility too. This is not a one way street to apportion all blame on one person. Of course he didn’t handle the WBA rumour well but that’s gone now. It’s quite trivial really in the world of football. Rumours? Good lord what next? |
