Apologies if there is a transfer thread I'm opening a thread for the January transfer window which has now opened.
Who should be a potential signing for us and who should move on either via loan or permanently? I've heard Kyrell Lisbie & Gus Scott Morriss mentioned as potential targets but could they potentially make the jump from NL to L2? Some players do but others don't.
Plus actual transfers that we bring in & out can also be mentioned here.
1) We need to work more on set piece defending as the defenders for the 1st goal just did not read where the ball was possibly going and a defender should have been at the far post where Swindon's first goal went in and the marking should also have been better for their 2nd goal. 2) Our midfield need to work more on getting involved in the attack more & reacting more quickly to supply the strikers up front if we are playing 4-2-3-1 Esp if Hopper is up front as although I'm not doubting his ability as a player his goal scoring ability is just not good enough. 3) Cowley needs to make substitutions sooner rather than later as Swindon had more fresh legs through their subs and he didn't react quickly enough. 4) Iandolo was very unlucky to be sent off tbh as he went for the ball and collided with the Swindon player. 5) I'm sorry but the refs decision making was poor - though at least he was consistently poor as he made a number of bad decisions against both sides.
I watched the match on sky and never saw any handball.
Sorry but I stick by the fact that that referee was awful though tbf I'm also not saying that we played well because we didn't - I've no idea why cowley picked Hopper ahead of Taylor
The fact is that referees should only act on actual fouls and not potential fouls that never happened.
Or Huddersfield... the cowleys have had chance to sort the defence out and they just haven't done so. We can't keep relying on others this needs sorting quickly.
I think you're correct on all that though I think BG fell out of favour with the rest of the management and the team - though I agree he would have done much better with more backing from RC and more control of the team with no interference from the others which I can only assume destabilised the team.
Unfortunately the Cowleys need to go and we need someone who will take charge and insist on better players and isn't afraid to drop or move non performers on instead of a yes man. We do not want a repeat of the disastrous run last season that ME took us down.
I think the only chance we have of beating Chesterfield is if 3 pigs fly past my window and/or the whole Chesterfield team go down with food poisoning.
The fact is we just haven't got enough quality up front - Taylor is ok on his day but not consistent enough and we can't really rely on him. Tovide likewise and his temper can cause us problems. Hopper scores possibly once in a blue moon and none of our management or ownership seem to understand why and never invest in the team properly..
Also our issues in defence have not been rectified.
At the very least we urgently need to invest in a consistent goalscorer or 2 in the next transfer window and pack Jay and Hopper off on loan to an NL club before releasing them.
Not a great result, going 3-1 up and only drawing against 10 men - we need to be more ruthless though we are finding the net now.
But we are on 6 points and a number of teams look in far worse shape than us atm.
I am thinking half full rather than half empty at the moment but I wouldn't write our season off after 6 games just yet. Hopefully LT and ST will become regular goal scorers for us - we need them to as the defence still seems to be gelling and DC needs to keep the players likely to win us matches on the pitch.
If we're playing badly and getting a draw that is kind of progress - clouds & silver linings and all that. It would be much better if we were playing badly and winning though.
As far as the racist language goes, that will be recorded on the clubs cctv (if indeed they have any) and hopefully the perps will be looking at a conviction and a long ban from grounds.
