Just because we don't know, we therefore presume they haven't done something we'd consider absolute basics? We don't see pictures of the players training every day but we know they must be doing. Now I agree 100% that an update about the pitch would have aided fan engagement. To me, and you, that is also absolute basics and the club deserve criticism for not doing it. |

Debate is good and it is fine to disagree. How do you know the club haven't done enough to protect the pitch? For the purposes of clarity, I have seen the pitch and its condition first-hand as I live close to Spotland. I'm not trying to pick holes, I'm just wondering if the club had a problem with the pitch in October as you say, why wouldn't they do their utmost to protect it? Surely that is absolute basics. I'd also state that if you think a Football Regulator will change things in terms of club's communication to fans, again we'll have to agree to disagree., [Post edited 8 Jan 12:49]

I'm curious why people are so quick to criticise the club at every opportunity? Don't get me wrong, there have been ample mistakes made and I've often shaken my head at some of the decisions they've taken, but sometimes things genuinely are out of their control. Take the Stockton game for example? The pitch is a mess, not necessarily through any fault of people running the club but these are the cards they've been dealt. As fans, do we think the club genuinely wanted to switch the game to Stockton? We are bashing the club for not apologising for doing it, bashing them for not putting on a coach, all trivial matters in the overall scheme of things IMHO. The coaches, for example, aren't heavily used - no matter who puts them on - so realistically how many people would want to go on one to Stockton on a Weds night? The club will already be losing money having to travel all that way - as will fans who opt to go and support the team and all credit to those that do - but at some point you have to cut your loses. I'll cut mine by not going to the game but I would have gone had it been at home. What we should be bashing them for is the lack of clarity/images of the pitch as it stands. An open and honest appraisal with transparency would aid fan engagement as they've nothing to hide but it would be helpful to know what the plan is between now and May. I'm far from a club apologist, far from it, but I just think we are critising for the sake of it. |
| Forum Thread | Mount Rushmore at 14:37 17 Nov 2024
If you could put any four individuals from the club's history into a Dale themed Mount Rushmore, who would it be and why? Only condition of entry is a link to the club in some form. I'll start off with: Ian Henderson Gary Jones David Kilpatrick Keith Hill DFK over Fred Ratcliffe as he was before my time, as was the likes of Reg Jenkins. The rest should be self explanatory. |

One of the nicest and most friendly players that you'd come across both on and off the pitch. Always had time for you with his infectious smile and warm personality. |

I'd urge anybody to watch the home game with Doncaster last season if they can. Adam Clayton played that game and I remember remarking to my friend just how little he actually moved. Infact it was so poor, I couldn't help but watch him more than the game itself. I thought we were playing a high tempo, pressing game? Clayton simply won't be able to do that. Impressive pedigree for sure but if your legs don't allow you to run anymore. I remember Rob Lee playing at Spotland for Wycombe when he was about 40. He couldn't run either but dictated the game from the middle of the park, we have to hope Clayton can so similar but I'd be very surprised to see him shutting people down and being in their faces. |

You can pick whoever you want from our current squad, simple matter of the truth is that the starting XI won't be good enough to stay up. We've got players donning our shirt who would rightly feature in any Worst XI side from my many years watching the club, some of whom you've named. Our players cannot do the basics, they are lacking any quality and many are amazingly contracted for next season. |

| Forum Thread | Scott Quigley - Explain at 17:12 2 Jan 2023
I don't get to see many matches live, but I've taken in Doncaster and Barrow in recent days. Can somebody explain what Scott Quigley offers our team and quite how he's managed 180+ minutes in these fixtures? For me, his workrate is appalling, he fails to hold the ball up and offer any of the attributes of the proverbial target man. He gives the ball away continously and is forever arguing with the referee and throwing his arms out. Perhaps if he wasn't so inept, he'd challenge for headers infront of his marker and stop fouling him. Calvin hasn't played for us for a few years, but I'd rather have him upfront now than Quigley. |

All you need to do is find out the bank paying the standing order. Your bank can give you that information and once you've got it, write to that bank including the cheque and ask them to forward it to the account holder. |

I feel as though the lads responsible for trying to get the atmosphere going in The Sandy Lane deserve their own thread. Tuesday was my first game of the season and despite only 1400 home fans, they kept the noise levels and positivity going and they deserve credit for that. People and fans are quick to moan, so give them the credit the deserve when something good happens. Keep it up lads, us oldies appreciate the singing and improved atmosphere. Can the club help in any way? Music choices just before kick off, same again at half time and full time if the result goes our way. Just a thought and may already have happened, if not reach out to them as it can be a combined effort to improve atmosphere. Moggy would have been proud. [Post edited 11 Aug 2022 15:45]

I appreciate that football is about opinions, but I'm surprised to see people willing to offer contracts to so many of our out of contract players. Taking the season as a whole, we have been woeful for the majority. RS needs an overhaul and wiggle room to bring in fresh blood with the higher budget we are led to believe he has. Remember he already has White, Graham, Odoh and Taylor under contract, none of whom RS appears to have faith in and are likely to be squad players at best. Of those out of contract, I would release them all bar O'Connell without hesitation. I like Downing, but we cannot guarantee his fitness and therefore cannot take a risk on him. Our midfield has been arguably the worst it has been for a decade, why would we want to keep Dooley, Broadband etc? They are bang average players and I'm being generous with that description. As for Matt Done, he should have been released years ago IMHO. |

I think this is a really good idea and a positive move. As the group will be located within Smith Metals Stand and therefore close to the Family Stand, can we please try and come up with songs and create an atmosphere that doesn't include constant swearing? I was embarrassed with some of the chants at Oldham recently, whereas I listened to Crystal Palace fans create an excellent atmosphere on Monday night with original songs and don't recall their ultras or whatever they like to call themselves shouting profanities in every chant. Good luck with it as the atmosphere inside the stadium could certainly do with improving. |

I disagree Briels and take the Oldham game as an example. Sheridan was happy to let us have the ball as his side retreated to halfway line and his plan was that we wouldn't score and they'd hopefully nick a 1-0; he was right bar the fact his very poor side couldn't score. We bossed possession but created very little and at no point did I ever think we'd score in that game. The stats will show we should have won, but did you think at any second we would score a goal and win that game? Remember, we've only won 6 league games all season, less than 25% of our games and we've played 3-4-3 all season. With the new signings, I'd like to see us play two up top. We can still play with wing backs in O'Keefe and Clark, but why not forfeit one of the numbers 10s (Grant, Newby, Odoh) and replace them with someone who will hopefully find the onion bag and cause the opposition more of a problem? The midfielders behind the numbers 10s (Broadbent, Dooley and Kelly) rarely get forward to be in a position to score goals and aren't creative - bar Kelly on occasions when he does play the ball forward), so we need more threat in the final third IMHO. I do agree that O'Connell and Downing look above League Two level however, so why not back yourself as a team that they'll deal with the attacking threat of the opposition? RS is right that we need to have a more forward thinking mentality, because at present we are totally reliable on that coming from two wingbacks and that isn't a recipe for success whatsoever. |

These scams are often run by Organised Crime Gangs (OCG) so beware not to give out your bank details to them under any circumstances. Even if they appear to be rewarding you financially for something, be careful to know who you are dealing with. |

Nice to see Steve Parkin make an appearance for the service. Also a special mention to The Directors who were in attendance. It was noted they made the effort to pay their respects, in stark contrast to the previous regime who couldn't walk across Sandy Lane to the Crematorium to show their appreciation to a man who left the club £250,000. |
