57 points after 40 games Potter had 54.

YesI want Cooper gone but Potter may have had the team playing nicer football but lets not hide behind the facts 3 points worse off and he had Mcburnie and James as well.

But yes Cooper out
[Post edited 4 Jul 2020 13:00]

He also had the squad decimated in his preseason and brought a good few players through from he under23s.
Cooper had a settled core, a full pre-season, all the kids he wanted from his previous life, a settled style (which he has screwed up).
16 points from our first 6 games before he could seriously influence the players.
No one has improved and no one has increased in value.

He did have Mcburnie and James. Mcburnie probably better than Ayew but I'd wager that Potter improved James (who was incredibly raw early last season) much more than Cooper would have done.

Also, many players who improved through last season under Potter have visibly gone backwards under Cooper this season when they should have been kicking on. Potter has kept Brighton up this season which I doubt Cooper could do.

The only thing Cooper is keeping up is the pretence he’s a Championship level coach.

Why Cameron Toshak? Is it because of his last name?

We appointed Cooper based off his fantastic success in youth football management (allbeit with arguably the best U17 team in the world at the time). Look how truly woeful his tenure has been thus far, and there's no sign he's going to get any better.

Yet, you want to replace him with another man who only has experience in youth football (plus a few games in a league which shows no similarities with our own).

How about we seek to appoint someone who has shown they are capable of leading a bottom half Championship club to success?

Cooper was a huge gamble in terms of having to manage a proper team, not just one that meets every few months.

Listen, he ain't great, his football ain't great to watch but he seems to be as good as most managers in this division apart from those in charge of the top two. Laudrup ain't coming back, perhaps it's time to get real and accept that no one of that calibre is going to walk in here any time soon. This League isn't as good as it was, and the fact we're only a point off the playoffs may suggest that you don't, as things stand, need an awe-inspiring manager to get out of this League.

It's like we disappeared for seven years and returned to a Championship that's a shadow of the division we left, it's bang average, and a bang average manager can get you amongst the top clubs. That's modern football for you, that's what the big bucks in the Prem has done to the divisions below it.

Being just a little less worse than others isn't really a great endorsement.
We have thrown away umpteen chances to be in the top three because of his imnability to motivate players to pay a whole game a decent level.
The league is so poor this season that, with our group of players, a top three place should have been on the cards.
He needs to go.

Nobody is asking for Laudrup II. They're just hoping to be entertained and watch a team where it looks like the individual players had met each other more than five minutes before kick off. On too many occasions this season we haven't had that, despite clearly having players capable of doing so.

After 42 game
...................... W.. d .. l.. gf.. ga
Under copper 16 15 11 55 49
Under potterr 17 8 17 59 57

We have 4 more points than last season. Remarkably our running points total after each game is ahead of last seasons except after our second game. We have scored 4 goals less this season despite selling our top scorer, oli and most dangerous attacking player, dan.
Our defence has conceded 8 fewer goals injuries to our centre backs. We have played 6 centre back this season.

Away from home we have only lost 4 games. Last season we averaged 1 point per away game this season we average 1.5 points per away game.

Our one downside is that we have lost 7 home games.

Coopers loan players have all played a part this season.

Yet remarkable 50% of our fans think Copper should be sacked. Sacked for doing a better job with an inferior team to last season.

This site isn't known for it's football knowledge. That's been shown up time and time again. Take anything you read here with a pinch of salt, and know that it's the opinions of a vocal minority

Those numbers are very surprising though! Without James and McBurnie, etc He's done a remarkable job considering

Interested to what makes you say it's an inferior team to last season - Potter had to rebuild after relegation and change the playing style and mentality. Whilst he had McBurnie and James, Cooper has had a full year with Ayew and then half a season with some promising Premier League loan players, plus the likes of Rodon and Roberts with a full season of experience under their belts (though I'd agree with anyone who says that Roberts has gone backwards). I don't think the squad is any worse (or better) than last seasons.

This was exactly the same argument used to justify and defend what Monk was doing to the team despite having a good season points wise. We were playing better under Potter last year, that's obvious. But we were also vulnerable, especially at set pieces and away from home.

Ultimately it's the points that matter of course, but there's an expectation here now of at least some decent football and entertainment. We've blown hot and cold (mostly cold) in how we've played this season and a lot hasn't been exciting to watch. In terms of style Cooper has taken us backwards, but maybe he can turn that around like last night. I hope so because I can't see him going anywhere.

Cooper Out on 12:51 - Jul 9 with 1838 viewsDr_Winston

The common response is that Cooper "hasn't got James and McBurnie". No, but he does have Ayew & Brewster. Based on a full season would anyone want to bet that Brewster wouldn't get near to McBurnie numbers? Ayew has already scored more than twice as many goals as James managed last season.

That's not including other loans he's had this season, such as Wilmot, Surridge and Gallagher, or permanent signings that he had no idea what to do with and then bombed out like Peterson. No, the excuse that Cooper has had a poorer squad to work with doesn't wash as much as your average Cardiff fan.

Comparisons to the Monk season where points were ground out but serious questions were raised about the long term prospects are more than apt. He needs to learn fast or he's no use to us.

The main reason so many don't rate him is because he hasn't learned ... anything.
No player has improved nor has he team performance.
I can see us going nowhere with Cooper whereas Potter showed we could return to something like the style we enjoyed watching.
While would like to be in the PL I am happier watching us play flowing football as we did in this league with Roberto, Sousa and Rodgers.
