QPR v Reading Betting Preview

The boys are back after a big win last week to cast their eyes over QPR v Reading and value elsewhere in the weekend markets.

Well Brian returned to form in a big way last week pulling two horses, Adel Taarabt's goal and three football winners for a season's best return of £139.44 to put him in profit to the tune of £66.36. Andy lost a full £50 last week but is still £14 up for the season as a whole. That means if you'd followed LFW tips this season you'd have more than £80 in your pocket for beer money tomorrow.

Well, regular readers of this column (hello both of you, and thanks for the loan of the joke Clive…) will notice that last week I suggested that Man City would fail to beat Wolves, and as such took them out of my accumulator. Of course, what’s the point of making such an inspired observation to take out Man City, when Glasgow Rangers decide to drop their first points of the season. At home. Arses.

It was therefore a complete blank last week, with Cardiff winning, QPR not winning and Rangers cementing me as more of a Celtic fan than a Rangers fan (in the same way that I’m more of a Hepatitis A fan than a Hepatitis B fan…)

So this week’s turn to take a point from us is Reading, whom I probably despise as much as Chelsea. I hail from just outside Reading, from a town called Basingstoke, and as such I know quite a few Reading fans, so I’m desperate for us to put another one over them. Another four goal thrashing would go down nicely, thank you very much.

We’re odd’s on to win this one again, so I’m staying with my favourite win to nil bet, available at 12/5 on Bet365 or Betfair. Incidentally, of our eight wins this season, seven of them have been ‘to nil’, the sole exception being away at Crystal Palace.

Mackie also owes us a goal, so I’m having a fiver on him to score first @ 6/1 on bet365, and I reckon that Tommy Smith might get an extended run out, so I’m having a fiver on him to score at anytime at 5/2.

I’m not seeing much else that I like the look of this week, so I’m going to do some random other bets instead, inspired from various betting emails I’ve inadvertently subscribed to. I’m reliably informed that in four of Arsenal’s five games at home, and four of Newcastle’s five away games there has been at least four cards or eight booking points (two points per yellow, five for a red) so I’m going to stick a fiver on over 3.5 cards or more thanseven bookings points in the Arsenal vs Newcastle game. The markets haven’t been priced up for the game yet, but will lump it on the best odds I can find. I’m also going to do the same for the Sunderland vs Stoke game. I don’t know what the stats are for that particular match, but I’ve got a fairly strong suspicion that Football is not going to be the winner in that game.

Finally, the accumulator, and I’m plumping for a small four fold, with two fairly certain results, and two draws to bump the odds up – Celtic and Man U to win, and Shef U vs Ipswich and Sunderland vs Stoke to draw is nearly 16/1 on Betfair, so I’ll stick a tenner on that…

After a good return last week I have finally found the secret winning formula. Slag off Paul Ince and hey presto. Adel's goal, two horse selections and three out of four in the football meant a return of 139.44.

This week Reading travel to W12 it's another tough game for us. I think it is too close to call so will stick with first scorer. For the visitors Ian Harte is available at 20/1and is worth a pop alongside Jamie Mackie to get back in the groove. In racing I fancy one of Rebecca Curtis yard at Wincanton. She has a small yard and J P McManus has a couple with her and he isn't a bad judge. The breeders cup meeting takes place and I am going for Rose Catherine in the turf sprint and a trixie across the card.
