Danny Ings Completes Move To St Mary's
Monday, 1st Jul 2019 15:51

According to the Liverpool Echo Danny Ings has now completed his move to Saints after his initial season on loan, making it a double day of incoming signings.

It hasn't been announced officially by Saints yet, but according to the Liverpool Echo who presumably know a thing or two about Liverpool Football Club, Danny ings has now completed the signing of the deal that will make his initial one year loan period permanent.

It seems that once again it is all about that July 1st contract date that means that it was financially attractive for the player to be a Liverpool player when he woke up this morning and various contractual bonus's became due and having received those he will go to sleep tonight officially a full time player for his home town club.

The news is set to be announced soon and Saints have possibly delayed the announcement due to their signing of Che Adams this morning.

Again good news for the club and Ings 7 Premier League goals was still a reasonable total given his injuries and if he can stay fit in the coming season his ability to not only score goals but bring others into play by creating space and chances for others will surely be a big asset.

The Liverpool Echo are quoting the deal as being worth £18 million up front with a possible £2 million in add ons and a 20% sell on clause.

Ings was well rated on Merseyside and loved by the Liverpool fans, only injury prevented him establishing himself and by the time he was fully fit again others had joined the club and were ahead in the pecking order.

The sell on clause shows that Liverpool feel that he might yet have a big money move in him.

Good news if he stays fit. That’s the risk. We’ve had the same issues the past few seasons with being short on fit striking options.

A lot of money for an injury prone player.

Is it unreasonable to ask who originally signed this deal off on behalf of the club,£18 million for a player with a known problem with not one but both knees? If my memory serves me correctly then as leighsaint suggests Danny has never played ninety premiership minutes for us.Lets hope that Che Adams lives up to his reputation because on the basis of what happened last season we are going to need him.

saintmark1976-Hopefully this is the last of Les' 5-year plan to rebuild the Scouse!

This is one of the dumbest decisions yet from the new incumbents at board level. 20 squillion smackeroons for a player who has yet to prove he's worth persevering with.

Suppose he plays only 15/20 games tops especially after Hutch's pre-season torture training has taking a further toll on his health and wellbeing.

I don't know why this was always being called a "loan" as that would mean the Saints had an option to buy or not buy after the loan period ended. But as you can see, the Saints were locked into this from the beginning!

I would love to know who the "significant competition" was that Hughes referred to.
You can't tell me there was someone else stupid enough to go for this deal!

Aside from the fitness problems (not just knees but hamstrings too), he just isn't that good, is he?
