Could Dressing Room Bust Up Stir Passion
Tuesday, 2nd Oct 2018 20:22

Rumours have emerged of a dressing room bust up after the defeat at Wolves with Mark Hughes and Wesley Hoedt having "strong words"

Feelings were running high after the late capitulation against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday and a source close to the club has suggested that Mark Hughes and Wesley Hoedt were the main participants to such a degree that they are not speaking to each other.

It is not surprising that things came to a head after yet another game that saw soft goals conceded and yet more points dropped and it will be now interesting to see whether this is a catalyst that sparks a Saints revival in the coming weeks.

Certainly something has to happen. there is a distinct lack of passion and motivation in Saints play of late and although they did not play badly at Wolves, there was a lack of a spark that we have seen in other teams this season, Saints squad on paper is better than Bournemouth's and other premier league side, so why does it not play with the tempo and enthusiasm of these sides.

The answer is there is something missing and sometimes a clear the air bust up can be a benefit rather than a hindrance, we will soon see !

Good - time for Hoedt to respond or step aside!

Why do you keep saying the squad is better than so and so. The stats tell a differnt story over the last 40 league games.

Saints squad is not better than Bournmouth's - it just is not. Two seasons ago you could make those coments, not now.

Hughes had a bust-up with all of our strikers, but none of them were able to land a punch.

I dont think Saints squad is better than any other team in the premier league, in fact you would find it hard to find 3 worse teams. Did any other team come in for any of our players in the summer no. Tadic was the last good player we had.

I feel the squad is better than some teams in the Premier league, however it is not performing, when we finished 6th a few seasons ago no one would argue that our squad was better than Liverpool's or Chelsea's who finished below us, so league position is not always an indication of a squads quality, teams underperform and that is what we are doing.

Bournemout operate a different structure to us that is based on using a small percentage of players, they only had 13 players who played 20 games or more in the Premier League, they rely on being tight defensively and playing out of their skin, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt

Vanmans you contradict your own statement, "Did anyone come in for any of our players no" then you mention Tadic who was wanted by Ajax who bought him, would I find it hard to find 3 worse teams, the answer there is no I could just look at the league table, the bottom 4 do not have good squads, we do, we just dont have the confidence and spark that is needed

With some of the performances we've turned in during the last month - it's about time that SOMEONE lost their temper. Don't know if there were any boots or water bottles flying around, but these guys need to start making it happen, and not relying on Danny Ings alone. Change the formation... the personnel ...whatever, but it's clear that what we tried so far isn't getting results.

It's easy to blame the manager all the time, but with a dozen matches last season and 9 already this, MH must know who he wants in the start squad by now, but they just aren't getting the results. Now time for chopping and changing (big time) until we get it right.
