Day of the Triffics — Open All R's Podcast Tuesday, 14th May 2013 22:57 by LFW Guardian columnist John Crace, who has written a biography of QPR manager Harry Redknapp, is the guest on the penultimate podcast of the season.
Crace's Harry's Games – Inside the Mind of Harry Redknapp is released next month assessing his career and life in football. Crace spoke to the podcast team about what to expect from Redknapp moving into the summer and the Championship season. Crace said: "Harry is very much a plan A manager – he's only got one plan and if it doesn't work then he's not particularly good at thinking on his feet or knowing what to do. "He has a reputation as a good man manager, and he is with the players he likes, but he's not a great touchy feely manager with the players on the periphery of the squad so when they have to come in they know Harry doesn't really rate them and they don't understand necessarily what they have to do and they're not always that motivated to put themselves on the line for him. "Harry is a past master of finding players who are near to their sell by date and squeezing a bit more out of them. The danger of this is you end up reinventing your team every year or 18 months. I don't think Harry has ever taken much interest in a youth team, at Spurs he took no interest whatsoever. It's the wages you've got to look for with Harry." Crace was talking to host David Fraser, panel regulars Paul Finney and Chris Mendes, and some mouthy git from LoftforWords. To listen to or download the podcast please click here.
