Its the clash of the local non league season at SMS Tonight

AFC Totton and Sholing meet at St mary's tonight (Wednesday) in the final of the Hampshire Senior Cup at 7.30pm.

Both clubs contested the Zammaretto South West Division title this season with it looking like going Sholing's way for a big part of the time, but like Saints Totton came through with a barnstorming run and although they faltered a bit in getting over the finishing line as Sholing themselves looked to come back from the dead, it was Totton who put their play off heartaches of previous seasons behind them and gained the promotion to the premier division, one step from Eastleigh and effectively only three promotions from league football, a tremendous achiveement for the Club who celebrate their 125th anniversary this year and who played Saints in competitive cup action back in 1887 losing 1-0.

Sadly Sholing could not join Totton in promotion, mirroring the Stags in previous seasons the Boatmen despite finsihing runners up only two points off top spot and 16 ahead of the club that eventually beat them in the play off final it was heartbreak for the club formerly known as Vospers.

So they now meet in the  Hampshire Senior Cup Final at St Mary's with Sholing out to prove a point and Totton out to make sure there is no doubt who is the top dog this season.

There is sure to be a big crowd for the game and entry is only £10 for adults and £5 for those over 65 or under 16.

ONLY £10 Nick. Expensive to watch 2 pub teams. Maybe they could throw in a hotdog or 2 for that price.

Have some respect please these are not pub teams they're semi-pros. Most seasons clubs from their level give professional teams a run for their money in the FA Cup.

Go and watch them and then see if you still think they are pub teams. I have been watching Sholing this season when their games didn't clash with Saints and I have been well entertained. At their level, these are the top two teams’ in this quarter of the country (not just Hampshire) and they are both from Southampton! Definitely something to be proud of and worth a tenner of anyone’s money.

I agree that these two sides are more than just 'pub teams' and they have done a great deal this past season to raise the profile of local football.

I do however also agree that £10 is slightly overpriced for this match when you consider that the England U21s game in a couple of weeks is also £10 (although with the recent squad announcement and the likes of Carroll, Wilshere and Lallana missing out the value of this match has deteriorated slightly).

I will be there tonight however and am looking forward to a cracking game.

Just like mickyt7 I have been watching teams in this league this season.
I have a season ticket at St Mary's but watch Totton when Saints are away.
Totton charge £9 per match, so £10 tonight is not excessive. 2 players from Totton have had trials with Reading, Wycombe and Aldershot so the standard of play is of a very high standard.
Come along and watch and you will most surpised.
Obviously the ones claiming they are both "pub teams" have not gone out and watch them actually play.

Have watched a final at St Mary a few years back. VTGroup as it was then Sholing as it is now. Wasnt a bad game but nor is a school kids football match that can be entertaining but I wont pay £10 for it. As most things you pay your money and take your choice. Wasted money in my opinion.
Back to the VT game at the end a VT player lifted his shirt and had a Poorsmuff shirt on underneath. Thats the only bit I remember so cant have been that great after all.
