Saints V Walsall The Preview
Saints V Walsall The Preview

Saints season is not yet over as they now play a big part in the relegation battle.

There are some who might think that Saints can coast on Saturday against Walsall with promotion 99.9% certain, however there are several reasosn why they should not do this, firstly there is their own pride, we should want to get over the 90 point mark and we should also want to get as near to Brighton as possible, secondly or is it thirdly ? we should want to ensure that promotion is not won on goal difference but with frsh air between us and Huddersfield, but the most important reason is that we have a big say in who gets the final relegation place, we owe it to Dagenham & Redbridge to put out a good team and try to beat Walsall.

On the first reasons not so many weeks ago Brighton and their fans were crowing about how they were running away with the League etc etc, it would be nice to make that gap as small as possible, if we win and they lose at Notts County then we could be as close as two points to them and that would be very sweet

What i would hope though with team selection is that Nigle Adkins though putting out his strongest side does make some subtle changes, I would like to see Aaron Martin given a full 90 minutes for one, of course we dont want to make too many changes in deference to Dagenham, but the odd one or two should be made to give a fringe player or two a game.

But what Saints first sell out crowd of the season want to see is goals, they have come to party and anything else is not on the script, under normal circumstances this might be the case, however walsall cant afford to lay down and die, if they are losing in the final stages they are going to have to throw everything at Saints, although as i have often said, we are at our best when teams attack us and we have the space to break out, as was the case at Plymouth and at Brentford on Saturday.

Even with Walsall firing on all cylinders i would expect us to win and win well, we have a few players in the squad with a point to prove and i think ultimately that will be the difference.

Nice that there will be a sell out, but where have they been for the rest of the season?

Lurking in the shadows just waiting to steal your thunder.... Get over yourself rjh, it would be great for football if every ground got a full house every single week but thats not gunna happen. Lets enjoy a full SMS with people who are enjoying Saints success and if the team continue with their form and the quality of the opposition improves I suspect the number of full houses will too.

I hope it will be the case next year and I am pretty sure you're right. That said, crowds were much higher last year and the opposition was of the same standard and the team were not flying high - that is what has puzzled me a bit.

Great result today. Well done Saints.
