Another Big Weekend For Saints
Another Big Weekend For Saints

Saints fans will be watching the results on Saturday afternoon before heading to St Mary's.

Saints will almost certainly find themselves eight points behind second place when they take on Sheffield Wednesday in an early evening kick off on Saturday, Hudderfield entertain Swindon Town at home and even the most optimistic Saints supporter would not bet too much on the Wiltshire club getting anything other than drubbed, however with four games in hand on the Terriers its not an insurmountable hurdle.

The main worry is Peterborough who seem to be hitting form, the hope is they have peaked early, the second hope is that MK Dons do us a big favour at home, to be blunt if Posh dont drop points in this one then they are going to be a hard act to catch, even though as it stands we are currently only four points behind with two games in hand.

Other games that will interest Saints will of course be Bournemouth who have a tricky trip to Carlisle, a defeat there for them aligned with a Leyton Orient win at Brentford would see the East London club only two points behind the Cherries with two games in hand, a gap that could be overcome when Orient play Dagenham at home on Tuesday, how ironic for our near neighbours if that happens and in the space of 14 days they would have dropped out from second and challenging for promotion to struggling to make the play offs.

The fight for the play offs is now down to a seven horse race (including Brighton) whilst Charlton if they win their games in hand and have a good run could theoretically charge in at the last minute, truth is its now between the top six and Leyton Orient in seventh.

But after watching the rest of the results unfold its down to business for Saints, all they can do is keep winning and eventually that should be enough, as i mentioned earlier in the week the target is 85 points equating to exactly two points per game between now and the end of the season, so its important to win our home games and keep ahead of the game, not to mention to bridge that gap above us.

This is quite frankly a must win game and hopefully Saints fans will respond to the challenge and turn up in numbers despite it being on TV, judgement day for Saints is nearing, if we want the team to step up to the plate then the crowd needs to as well, both in terms of numbers and noise.

Indeed, just another "must win" game in a season of "must win" games.

Would be far more comfortable if Huddersfield took their 3 points and Peterborough slipped up at MK. I guess as Nick points out this is the most probable outcome this weekend.. We just need to focus on winning our home game and making sure when Peterborough kick off on Monday night they are just a point ahead, having played the extra game.
