Best of luck to him and I hope he achieves all he wants |

So did he go away for university, and what sort of employment is he looking for, if you don't mind me asking |

I had just finished my apprenticeship when I bought my first house, oh and I did a bit of googling the house I bought for 40 k in 1988 works out at 134 k now, and that house is on the market now for 200k for a bit of context. |

As night follows day, 100k was a rough example, are your kids in employment, are they married or in a relationship? I'm glad I was able to get you to do some research, nobody is saying it's easier, but people are far to choosier these days, and not willing to start at the bottom. Out of curiosity where was your first property 35 years ago? |

So how have you managed with your 3 properties? |
| Forum Reply | Public sector pay at 20:10 14 Dec 2024
Did you have one ? Why I posted earlier in the thread plenty of properties I Swansea available for around 100k, my first property was a real doer upper, but family and friends helped, and we moved on. Far to many want something for nothing these days, or lease a look at me Audi |

How do you think people of my age managed, I was married had 2 children a mortgage and a wife who didn't work to fetch up the children. No child care in those days, at one time I was on strike for 13 weeks, no food banks in those days. It does amuse me how some of you on here think they were halcyon days |

I find some of the views on here so sad, as you say all the best laid plans can go wrong, and I really feel sorry for pensioners who are just above the threshold. And it certainly isn't going to be a very Merry Christmas for a lot of Tata workers. I worked there for 42 years, but I always remember 1980 when I avoided redundancy by the skin of my teeth. There for the grace of God go I |

I doubt we will ever see an increase in triple lock like 2023 and 2024 again 4.1% of £680 is certainly not a big deal |

I can afford to go without the wfa, and also I have a final salary pension, which I worked 42 years for. But I and millions like me are not wealthy pensioners, who maybe have care home fees to look forward to. Sorry but ageism seems to be alive and well throughout this thread |

Would you say your parents are wealthy pensioners? |
| Forum Reply | Could this be the beginning at 09:42 14 Dec 2024
There's going to be a massive anti Labour vote at the next election, people have had enough. And the way Starmer has started is not helping at all |

Excellent post Max, oh and he wants you to pay for your prescriptions as well. The joys of growing old |
