Happy League 2024/25 Week 27 (of 38) - Deadline Saturday 8th February 15.00
at 23:31 1 Feb 2025

Week 26 results

EVERTON 4 LEICESTER CITY 0

Everton scored twice in the opening six minutes, including the fourth fastest goal in Premier League history, to thrash woeful Leicester, who only had a mere one shot on target. Nobody got this spot-on, but 19 did have the outcome.

NEWCASTLE UNITED 1 FULHAM 2
Newcastle missed the opportunity to go fourth in the Premier League after a superb second-half comeback from Fulham. No points for anyone from this game, as 21 predicted a win for Newcastle, and the other 3 went for a draw.

LEEDS UNITED 7 CARDIFF CITY 0
League leaders Leeds maintained their advantage at the top of the Championship as a dominant display earned them a stunning win over Cardiff. Nobody got this spot-on, though everyone predicted a win for Leeds, with 13 going for a 2-0 in what was the weeks most predicted score.

SWANSEA CITY 0 COVENTRY CITY 2
This victory continues Coventry's upturn under Frank Lampard, to put them within sight of the play-off places after four successive Championship wins. For Swansea, by contrast, have now taken only one point from six league games in 2025. Only unitedwhites and Daniel had this spot-on, and a further 10 got the outcome.

BLACKPOOL 2 CHARLTON ATHLETIC 2
Blackpool came from two goals down to get a sixth successive home draw for the first time in their 129-year Football League history. Well done to gerry_us for being the only one to get this spot-on, and another 5 had the outcome.

WIGAN ATHLETIC 1 LINCOLN CITY 1
James Collins converted an 88th-minute penalty at the second attempt to rescue a point for Lincoln. That late goal was good news for the 4 who had this spot-on, and one more got the outcome.

AFC WIMBLEDON 1 BRADFORD CITY 0
James Tilley's decisive first-half header inspired Wimbledon to a win over their promotion rivals. A sublime 5 got this spot-on, and a further 11 had the outcome.

CARLISLE UNITED 1 SWINDON TOWN 5
Swindon made it four successive League Two wins as they thrashed bottom-of-the-table 10-man Carlisle. Nobody had this spot-on, but 11 did get the outcome.

With a 7-0 and a 1-5 this week it was never going to be easy to get a 3 pointer, and so it proved, with only a total of 12 from the four games that had one. At least the 81 total outcomes made sure most members had a reasonable week. Considering the sparce number of 3 pointers, it was very noteworthy for unitedwhites to get three, the wins for Coventery and Wimbledon and the Wigan 1-1. He also got two outcomes to make him the weeks top scorer with a fantastic 11 points. Nobody managed to have two 3 pointers, and the best of those to get one was RSCOSWORTH and bwildered, who both had the Wigan 1-1, and concordman and BFG who both got the Wimbledon 1-0. They each also got four outcomes, to give them all a decent 7 points.

Happy Cup Just a reminder. Details for the Semi-finals are now on the separate Happy Cup thread.

In the Premier Five outcomes were enough for mfb_cufc to remain top for the fifth week running, as blueeagle replies with three outcomes, to remain second. The fantastic top scoring performace from unitedwhites moved him up a place to third. His highest position since Week 2. With thrillseeker dropping a place to fourth, there were no other changes in this division from last week.

In Division One The decent week for bwildered has enabled him to increase his lead to a healthy 5 points over Tropical_Us, who remained in the other automatic spot, but only on the most 3 pointer rule from noah4x4, after he had a good five outcomes. It is outcomes also for durham_exile and Jorash63, and they remain fourth and fifth. A good five outcomes for Lewis_1 moved him up a place into the final play-off spot. With wessex_exile dropping out of the top six for the first time since Week 19. The rest of the league remains the same as last week.

THE TABLES (186 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

Week 27 Fixtures This is now an 8 game week to make up for te final postponed games from Week 23.

He who would Valiant be - as Super U's win again at the JCS
at 23:10 28 Jan 2025

Back to our game being called off. How embarrassing. There has been loads of rain over the whole of the country from the latest storms, of which we hardly got anything in comparison. We were the only game called off in the EFL, after all the work done to the drainage, which was done to supposedly to stop games being called off due to waterlogging. What a waste of money, without doing something about the crap state of the pitch at the same time,.

Final scores

burnsieespana 5 noah4x4 6
In a game of outcomes it is noah4x4 who edges it to go through.

Lewis_1 6 thrillseeker 7
By having the Forest 2-0 spot-on, it proved to be the defining result for thrillseeker, as Lewis_1 replies with a good six outcomes.

mfb_cufc 8 wessex_exile 7
The Ipswich 3-0 spot-on for wessex_exile, and the Forest 2-0 spot-on for mfb_cufc. But by getting the Exeter outcome it was the difference to put him through.

Daniel 13 oxfcolu 8
In a round that was hard to find 3 pointers it was a great effort from Daniel to get three, the wins for Forest and Ipswich and the Reading 1-1. Unfortunate for oxfcolu to come up against a man in such good form, as his 8 points, that included being the only one to have the Arsenal 1-1 spot-on, would have guranteed at least a replay against anyone else.

As in previous rounds there will be a replay for any drawn games. The tie-breaker rule will only apply for any replays. Any replays will be 10 matches from the following Saturday's League games. The draw for the Semi-finals has been made by mrs mfb, and is as follows:-

noah4x4 v Daniel

mfb_cufc v thrillseeker

Semi-final Fixtures
There will be 7 games on the Saturday, and 3 on Sunday from the FA Cup 4th Round, to keep the suspense going. There are no replays in the FA Cup, so all games will be settled on the 90 minute result. If any matches are postponed the Semi-finals will be decided on the games left. No more than four scores the same as your opponent please. Don't forget it is an early start with the deadline 12.15.

Week 25 results

AFC BOURNEMOUTH 5 NOTTINGHAM FOREST 0

Bournemouth delivered an attacking masterclass to stretch their club record unbeaten Premier League run to 11 games and bring high-flying Forest crashing down to earth. Nobody got this spot-on, but 7 did have the outcome.

LIVERPOOL 4 IPSWICH TOWN 1
Cody Gakpo scored twice as Liverpool comfortably saw off struggling Ipswich to maintain their six-point advantage at the top of the Premier League. Everyone predicted a win for Liverpool, though the 10 who predicted them to win 4-0 would be disappointed with the 90th minute Ipswich consolation. That left us with Tropical_Us doing well to be the only one to get it spot-on.

LUTON TOWN 0 MILLWALL 1
Mihailo Ivanovic provided a moment of quality to provide Alex Neil with his first win as Millwall manager. A great 8 got this spot-on, and another 4 had the outcome.

QUEENS PARK RANGERS 0 SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 2
Second-half goals from substitute Michael Smith and Callum Paterson - making his first league start for more than a year - earned Wednesday only their second win in their last seven league matches. Well done to noah4x4 for being the only one to have this spot-on, and only Lewis_1 got the outcome.

SUNDERLAND 2 PLYMOUTH ARGYLE 2
Nathanael Ogbeta's 90th minute goal secured a well-deserved point for struggling Plymouth. With everyone predicting a win for Sunderland, that late equaliser means no points for anyone from this game. 12 predicted Sunderland to win 2-0 in what was equally the weeks most predicted score.

HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 0 BOLTON WANDERERS 1
Managerless Bolton ended Huddersfield's unbeaten League One run at 16 games as Ex-U's loanee Aaron Collins' second-half goal earned the visitors a win. Another game with no points for anyone, as 18 predicted a win for Huddersfield, and the other 6 went for a draw.

LEYTON ORIENT 2 READING 0
Leyton Orient completed the double over Reading with this win, and took their unbeaten run in the league to 9 games. Only basher2010 and bwildered got this spot-on, and a further 14 had the outcome.

STOCKPORT COUNTY 2 CRAWLEY TOWN 0
Stockport retained their place in the League One play-off positions after a comfortable victory over struggling Crawley, who fail to have a shot on target. A massive 10 had this spot-on, and another 12 got the outcome.

COLCHESTER UNITED 1 MORECAMBE 0
Mandela Egbo's second-half strike proved enough to secure Colchester a first ever home victory against 10-man Morecambe, at the seventh attempt. A sublime 5 got this spot-on, and a further 16 had the outcome.

NOTTS COUNTY 1 BROMLEY 1
Cameron Congreve's brilliant late equaliser earned Bromley a point against County. Only unitedwhites and Moor_Pinot had this spot-on, and only Madeira163 got the outcome. The other 21 predicted a win for County, with 12 going for a 2-0 in what was the weeks other most predicted score.

Another week with a number of "good things", but with only half of the eight obliging, including two games failing to trouble the scorer, it still turned out to be the second best 10 game week of the season so far. If it wasn't for the late goals from Ipswich, Plymouth and Bromley, it would have been even better. It was still a fantastic week for two members who had three 3 pointers, they were basher2010, who got the wins for Millwall, Orient and Stockport, and one outcome, to give him an excellent 10 points, and concordman, who had the wins for Millwall, Stockport and Colchester, and two outcomes, to give him a brilliant 11 points, and a share in being the weeks top scorer. Also having a share in that honour is noah4x4, who did best of those to get two 3 pointers, the wins for Millwall and Wednesday, and a good five outcomes, to give him a brilliant 11 points. There was seven others who also had two 3 pointers, the best of which came from durham_exile, who got the wins for Millwall and Stockport, and Moor_Pinot who had the Millwall 1-0 and County 1-1. They each also got three outcomes, to give them both a superb 9 points. The other five all got a very decent 8 points, with two outcomes. They were mfb_cufc, Sector4 and Jorash63, who all had the wins for Stockport and Colchester, and unitedwhites, who had the Millwall 1-0 and the County 1-1, and finally bwildered, who got the 2-0 wins for Orient and Stockport.
A latest look on how results are going after 178 games this season. They have ended with 77 (43.26%) home wins, 53 (29.79%) away wins, and 48 (26.96%) draws. Still very much at historical levels. The top result continues to be the 1-1 with 27. That is 8 ahead of the 1-0, who after a slow start, is now the top result for a home, but only by one ahead of the 2-0. Top for an away is the 0-1 with 14.

Happy Cup All the details for the Semi-finals will be on the separate Happy Cup thread on Monday 27th January.

In the Premier The decent week for mfb_cufc has increased his lead to 3 points, as an impressive six outcomes for blueeagle keeps him well in touch. A decent week for thrillseeker, that included having the Stockport 2-0 spot-on, keeps him in third. The decent week for unitedwhites moves him up a place to fourth. The highest he has been since Week 5. Three outcomes for Daniel, means he drops a place to fifth. The decent week for Sector4 and the excellent week for basher2010 keeps them sixth and seventh, but improved their chances of avoiding the drop. Four outcomes for RSCOSWORTH were enough to keep him eighth, but the pack close in to make thigs uncomfortable for him. Leading that pack is concordman after his top scoring performance moved him up three places, and out of the bottom three for the first time since Week 9. This was his second double figure score in three weeks, as he finally shows the sort of form that won him the title last season. This means despite decent weeks, ghughes11 and oxfcolu find themselves together in the relegation zone for the first time this season. Even though he drops back to the bottom again, burnsieespana remains well in contention to avoid relegation.

In Division One Another week and another change of leader, as the decent week for bwildered takes him back to the top for the sixth different time this season. It is only on the most 3 pointer rule from last weeks leader Tropical_Us. The top scoring performance from noah4x4 moved him up three places to third. The superb week for durham_exile was not enough to stop him dropping a place to fourth. The decent week for Jorash63 keeps him in fifth, and a good five outcomes for wessex_exile means he takes the final play-off place this week, on the most 3 pointer rule from Lewis_1. The only other change in this league has Moor_Pinot moving up a place, after his superb week.

THE TABLES (178 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

Week 26 Fixtures This is now an 8 game week to make up for the postponed games in Week 23.

Happy League 2024/25 Week 25 (of 38) - Deadline Saturday 25th January 12.30
at 21:03 18 Jan 2025

Week 24 results

LEICESTER CITY 0 FULHAM 2

A clinical Fulham performance, as they score with their only two shots on target, condemned Leicester to their seventh straight Premier League defeat and piled the pressure on Foxes manager Ruud van Nistelrooy. Only basher2010 and BFG got this spot-on, and a further 9 had the outcome, with all 9 going for a 2-1 in what was equally the weeks most predicted result.

WEST HAM UNITED 0 CRYSTAL PALACE 2
Two goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta gave Palace victory over 10-man West Ham, who fail to have a shot on target. Nobody had this spot-on, and only durham_exile, ghughes11 and Madeira163 got the outcome.

OXFORD UNITED 1 BLACKBURN ROVERS 0
Oxford took their unbeaten run to six games under manager Gary Rowett, with a goal from Cameron Brannagan. Nobody got this spot-on, and only gerry_us had the outcome.

WEST BROMWICH ALBION 1 STOKE CITY 1
Teenage striker Nathan Lowe scored for Stoke after just nine minutes on his first start since being recalled from loan at League Two leaders Walsall. West Brom secured their 14th draw of the season with a goal from Grady Diangana. Well done to unitedwhites for being the only one to have this spot-on, and only Blue4U2 and Madeira163 got the outcome. 20 predicted a win for West Brom.

BIRMINGHAM CITY 1 EXETER CITY 0
Birmingham maintained their lead at the top of the League One table with a goal from Ethan Laird, as Exeter fail to have a single shot. Only Jorash63 and Blue4U2 got this spot-on, and another 21 had the outcome, with 9 going for a 2-0 in what was the weeks other most predicted score.

CRAWLEY TOWN 1 BURTON ALBION 1
Crawley's winless League One run extended to six matches after Tola Showunmi rescued a draw against bottom-placed Burton, who are still looking for their first win after six attempts under boss Gary Bowyer. Well done to Blue4U2 for being the only one to have this spot-on, and only durham_exile and gerry_us got the outcome.

GRIMSBY TOWN 1 CHESTERFIELD 1
Jordan Davies opened the scoring for Grimsby, before Tom Naylor got Chesterfield a deserved equaliser. A great 8 got this spot-on, and nobody had the outcome.

MORECAMBE 0 CREWE ALEXANDRA 1
Crewe maintained their push for promotion in League Two with a battling victory, thanks to a goal from Chris Long. A magnificent 7 had this spot-on, and a further 13 got the outcome.

After last weeks wipeout it was good to be back at full throtle again this week. It was one that was very much a slow burner, with only five goals in the first-half, making me wonder just where the points were going to come from. Things picked up in the second-half, and mainly thanks to the two games from League 2, we did get a total of 21 spot-ons in the end. Still a tough week overall for finding those 3 pointers, so it was a great effort from unitedwhites who was the only one to get three, the draws for West Brom and Grimsby and the Crewe 1-0, and also two outcomes, to make him the weeks top scorer with a fantastic 11 points. Three members did well to have two 3 pointers, with the best coming from Blue4U2, who had the Birmingham 1-0 and the Crawley 1-1, and BFG, who got the Fulham 2-0 and the Grimsby 1-1. They each also had two outcomes, to give them both an excellent 8 points. The other was Jorash63, who got the 1-0 wins for Birmingham and Crewe, and one outcome, to give him a decent 7 points. Best of those to have one outcome was durham_exile, the Grimsby 1-1, and four outcomes, to give him a decent 7 points.

In the Premier Having the Crewe 1-0 spot-on was enough to keep mfb_cufc top, but his lead was reduced to a point, as blueeagle got the Grimby 1-1 spot-on. Having the Crewe 1-0 spot-on moved thrillseeker up a place to third. The top scoring performance from unitedwhites moved him up a place to fifth. The highest he has been since Week 6. Another decent week for RSCOSWORTH, that included having the Grimsby 1-1 spot-on, continues to ease him away from the threat of relegation. In the fight to avoid being in that bottom three, incredibly ghughes11 has moved out yet again, thanks to getting the Crewe 1-0 spot-on. That decent week means oxfcolu replaces him in the relegation once again. Having the Crewe 1-0 spot-on moved burnsieespana off the bottom once again.

In Division One The lead has changed once again, as Tropical_Us makes it the 13th time this has happened this season. A decent week that included getting the Grimsby 1-1 spot-on, takes him back to the top for the first time since Week 6. Last weeks leader bwildered has to settle for the other automatic spot, despite also having the Grimsby 1-1 spot-on. The decent week for durham_exile moved him up three places to third. A position he last held in Week 16. Two outcomes for wessex_exile, and he drops to fourth. The decent week for Jorash63 moved him up a couple of places to fifth, Two outcomes for noah4x4, and he occupies the final play-off place this week. The excellent weeks for Blue4U2 and BFG moved them both up a place, and gave them renewed hope of making the play-offs. At the bottom another missed week for Colukev suggests he has finished for the season. As he is not in any other competitions there is no need to expel him just yet.

THE TABLES (168 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)

Week 25 Fixtures 10 games picked by this weeks guest Lewis_1. Don't forget it is an early start with the deadline 12.30.

In a game of outcomes it is noah4x4 who edges it to go through.
