| News Comment | Redknapp blasts Foy as West Brom complete QPR double — full match report at 00:01:47
The poor performance at Newcastle was followed by another one here. The report is spot on, WBA we're better, but nowhere near their best. The two incidents were regrettable but must not be allowed cloud the issues Rangers are in all sorts. They say you learn more from a defeat than a victory, that being the case, Harry, Joe and Kevin's education must surely be complete. I don't think there were any performances worthy of banishment neither were there many warranting a honourable mention. Mbia was the standout, Rob Green also did some good things. Hard to assess Cisse's performance he really doesn't, get the service he needs. Diakite is probably due for another run in the side as is Granero and Hoilett. A cameo from Dyer might have been interesting. Hard to find a winning combination for the R's with the current resources, but doesn't,need wholesale changes. In many ways the window is the acid test (already) for Harry, I'm sure he will pass it. |
| News Comment | How not to run your football club — full match preview at 21:57:00
Another top quality article thank you Clive. As always, food for thought! I agree that the need for forward planning is of paramount importance and should be addressed as a priority. I also believe that in Tony Fernandes we have a financial colossus . I think he has been seriously under rated. The airline industry is one of the toughest operating environments in the business world. Massive barriers of entry, capital, political etc, Complex industrial relations isues including ongoing negotitions with innumerable unions in numerous countries and very narrow profit margins. TF's Air Asia has over come these obstacles and is currently on an upward trajectory. It as not an overnight success more a steady progression. Through his ( I 'm guessing TF would have been relentlessly positive). Clearly he would not have the expertise in all the diverse disciplines that are needed to run his organisation so he had to allow is appointees to do this. My guess is that TF empowers his people and only gets involved as needed. How else could he keep all the balls n the air? He is well up for the task ahead at QPR. I have no doubt that he has been appalled by what has happened at QPR and not in any hurry to repeat it. Harry is TF's appointment and will receive his backing in the short term, including the January window. I'm sure the scope of Harry's position will be 'restricted' to include all matters related to on field performance. Strategy will be someone else's responsibility. Hard to believe it now but I think the club s in good hands. Time will tell. Sorry guys I realise this is football forum but Clive's articles do raise many issues and concerns some of which can't be answered in one liners. Enjoy the upcoming games ncludind the win against WBA. |

The good thing is that unlike his predecessor, Harry is not in denial. Watching the match on tv there were no handshakes or pats on the back for the substituted players, Just the big ignore.Speaks volumes to me. Training will be interesting on Monday, I think Harry and Joe will be getting stuck in and there will be 2 or three changes to the starting 11 against Fulham and changes to the squad in January. 'H' has obviously seen enough. |
