Watched the game back on sky and I’ve discovered a new source of entertainment. Angel Rangel mannerisms. Try pausing your sky box when the opposition take a shot at our goal and he is in frame or watch a replay of him defending or walking away after an attack at our goal. The shaking of the head, the puffing out of his cheeks, the phwoars and shaking of fingers... all done so stereotypicaly Spanish and his face so animated. Makes great viewing for me, especially after the comfort of knowing we have won 2 nil. |

Ultimately this is season has been more of a lesson for poor Ol' Fernandez. I like the man, he is engaging, optimistic and clearly knows how to make something work. I do also think that he is the sort of man that will learn from his mistakes and every ounce of logic told me in Jan regardless of peoples feeling towards NW that by replacing him and employing a manager who would bring in so many new faces would struggle. This is exactly what is happening. We have quality on paper and given a whole summer in preseason I don't doubt this team could finish in the top half of the premiership. But with so many personalities and qualities (and liabilities) the team won't ever gel enough in time for us to survive. Plus this isn't helped by MH who simply is not sure what team to be playing. I would love to know where we would be now if NW had stayed and brought in just 2 players. I honestly believe we would have had more points than we do now. Anyway that is not possible. I am generally a very positiove person but I am also realistic and I don't believe we can survive this season. I think we may have better players that those around us but these are players who have had no real time to forge. Plus I wonder about MH. Question I am interested in peoples thoughts is. 1) Who will definitely leave us if we go down. and 2) Who may stay with us in the championship? Final point, Joey barton is a liability in my opinion! |

I don't think NW should be criticised at all. At the end of the day he picked a team which on paper should have won with relative ease. What he has proved is that a whole host of players arfen't good enough and don't care. Only a few weeks ago after the Crawley game (call it sentiment or hope) I wanted to see Lee Cook and Martin Rowlands recalled into the squad as possible back up. I mean Buzaky seems to have forced his way back into the team why can't two of my favourites. This game has now made me realise it really is the end of the road for those players and Warnock has given them that final chance which they decided to pi$$ up the wall. Shame. The real concern as pointed out in the report is that our strength in depth for a V large squad is alarmingly bad. I mean Orr isn't the best full back but now we don't have one on the right and if any of other current first team get injured we don't have much reliable back up. On another point and I like Taarabt, but if he is likely to go at some point and if he still gives only 100% when he wants why the hell is he captain? How Derry isn't I will never know. |
| News Comment | Bolton hand QPR reality check — full match report at 12:29:47
I have enjoyed reading posts and the reports on this site for a number of years now but am a virgin to blogging here. Anyway as another passionate Super Hoops supporter I thought i would have my say. Personally think the formation can work well for us, the first half I thought we were outstanding. I was sitting in W block and saw the best of our attacking play which was good. But as it has been pointed out we just can't afford to miss three decent efforts. if one had gone in, chances are we would have started the second half 1-0 up and would have gone on to win. All is far from lost, however we need to sort out both our full backs. Orr or Hill have two of the most important positioins in this league and they are very average championship players. I like both the lads but they are not good enough and I think Orr knows that. he said last year he doesn't posses half the quality Kyle W has and it was obvious today. We need pacey players in this position that can link with our strikers. I actually thought Gabbidon was alright but would still prefer Gorkks there. Another thing i noticed and I was more aggrieved by is some of the fans in the W/X block. A couple of them obviously have watched Romper Stomper one too many times. Some total idiot, with big boots, turned up jeans, braces, skin head spent the wholeds 90 minutes with his thug mates standing in the aisles trying to communicate a fight with Bolton fans. I am all up for banter but this idiot was not interested in the game and it was sad to see. |
