Matthew Arnold's Oxford Elegy is wonderful and too long for me to put on here. It was set to music by Vaughn Williams. It's been recorded four times and I have all four. One is American with the narrator putting on an English accent which is weird but possibly my favourite.
Yes, the dreaded month is back, rivalled only by dry January. Mind you, I only drink twice a week these days - Monday to Thursday and Friday to Sunday.
Marti keeping us up last season was little short of a Ressurection (don't tell my vicar I said that). Yes, a disappointing start but perhaps not surprising with so many unfamiliar faces and no Chair. We'll be fine.
Not great today, but it's worth remembering Blackburn have a 100% home record and are third in the table. Clearly, Chair will make a huge difference when fit ( hopefully in a week or so? )
Apart from the difficulties posed by these kickoffs, I miss the integrity of all the clubs kicking off at the same time. If you are involved in either promotion or relegation tussles, it was great waiting for the half times to see how rivals were getting on. OK, most folk have phones to keep up with scores now but really, all the games should start together.
