Today we looked as if we have real depth in personnel, maybe for the first time this season. All the subs fit in well, none seemed as if they were just there to kill off the match. At this point in the season it's very encouraging, and — dare I say it — bodes well.
A bit harsh on Celar. It seemed he was (finally) just rounding into form when he got injured. Kolli's been a nice surprise but once other teams get used to him his production might level off somewhat.
For me it was a game at Kenilworth Road, this time of year (possibly in 1977 not sure.) Their open concrete terracing was frigid and there was a half a gale blowing across it. My mate and and kept switching places so we could shield each other from the wind in shifts. I swear if I'd had to stand there another ten minutes I'd have gone to emergency with frostbite in my toes.
I realise it's a minor quibble compared to getting up at sparrow's fart to attend a match in person. However It'd be very handy if QPR+ could record matches on tape delay (or whatever it's called these days.) 7:00am PST starts are acceptable but 4:30am isn't. DaZN picks up a handful but the more matches there are then fewer QPR games are available. The club has been very good about refunds for blocked matches in the past, but I don't expect the league to be as generous.
My pre-season prediction — for another publication — was ninth. I'm still comfortable with that. Though there have been moments in the past couple of months when I wouldn't have admitted to it.
I thought Marti's reaction to the incident — or, more likely, the celebration of PNE players' following it— was pretty uncompromising: No way would he countenance his players behaving that way. I suspect that was what Field was going on about with Preston players too. Not the goal itself, which was quite OK, but not the gloating about it.
