I seem to recall a certain petition to the powers that be, for Portsmouth to be excluded from the UK....... |

I had forgotten we only got 25 points last time What a shower of shite that season really was. One of our big problems this season is that our best players excluding the keeper appear to either be less than 21 years old or in their late 30's, added to the fact none of them appear to be able to last 90 minutes in a game. If the manager can change his ways (signs of that against Ipswich), we may do better than the Opta prediction. But I wouldn't bet big on it. |

Fun Fact for the Day. Bournemouth was part of Hampshire until 1972. |

It was basically down to two things:- - being an impressionable 6 year-old seeing Mick Channon do the windmill celebration on The Big Match. I was asked around that time by my Mum if I wanted an England kit or a Saints kit as a birthday present, and I chose Saints. Funnily enough, Bournemouth wasn't an option. I didn't start going to watch them until I was 8 or 9. - the boyish good looks of Wints76 on a wet night in Portsmouth |

At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious...... This is all going to be determined by our League position in January. If we are looking like we are going to need snookers to stay up, it is going to be nigh on impossible to sign anybody half-decent. They simply won't want to sign for us, fearing relegation clauses etc. Which is when you end up with gash like Sulemana and Onuachu as in Jan 2023. January is such a tough window. And of course we will have to factor in the PSR / FFP rules. Our spending will be heavily constrained by that, unless we can get unwanted players out of the door. |

Their original name is Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic. When I used to watch them, a lot of their fans referred to them as Boscombe. A popular chant was “Boscombe, back of the net!!!”. Think I need a slap in the face with a wet fish to clear the memory of this. |

Confession time. The first time I went to a Saints game in the flesh it was a League Cup game in 1987-88 at Dean Court, as it then was. For my sins, I was in the Boscombe end, and they won 1-0. We drew the second leg 2-2 and were out. Saints were very much my team, but in those days I was taken to watch Boscombe. I don't recall things being particularly tribal between the two teams at that time, though others may recall differently. I was only 14 at the time. |

Can't say there are many possibilities to excite if you want to go to an away game, based on who is left in the comp. Guess we probably might as well get a home draw. |

I could walk, but that would be a waste of drinking time. |

I think the use of various steroids were found to be the main marginal gains used by British Cycling in 2012...... |

Football was nowhere near as tribal in the old days. I am regularly told of people back in the day who used to watch Saints at home one week and then Skates at home the following week. I presume this was in the halycon days when the Skates were getting crowds of over 20,000; the reality is that a lot of their fans were actually our fans as well.... |
