Silva will get an offer soon enough, and he'll take it. Without hesitation. See what happened previously with him when he was at Hull/Watford. Couldn't wait to snatch your hand off for a go at... Everton. Frank... Brentford are a terrifically run club. Managers have moved in and out of there and it's made little difference, they've kept progressing. Managers who've been picked off from there haven't done well elsewhere. Uwe Rosler got poached, look how that's gone for him. Warbs... Dean Smith got poached, now a bit of a joke after Norwich and Leicester and in the MLS. Brentford aren't doing well because of the manager. They're doing well because of their set up. Do you see Thomas Frank being the man to turn around Stoke even? Let alone a big job like Arsenal. If you're a badly run club (as most of them are) don't think picking the guy who's doing well at one of the few smartly run clubs is going to help you. You want the guy who's punching above his budget and succeeding despite the shambles behind him - which is why Danny Rohl is going to be hot property this summer.

Come on mate, we've all had a drink. Cifuentes will be off and away at the first sign of a better offer. As he should be, as they all would be. He's potentially only one dodgy Gavin Ward decision away from us sacking him three months ago. |

Yes. Yes. Please see repeated extensions to Nico Hamalainen's contract. |

Suspect the only other one that will be problematic this season is Oxford. |

Yeh I think the speed of that sale caught a lot by surprise. I was amazed it went that quickly. Have had various messages for spares from a lot of very regular awayers. |

I think they were all justified. In the Manning and Bright cases the fault was on our side because we let McClaren dictate over them, loaning Manning to Rotherham when he should have been playing for us and refusing to pick Bright even though we were complete sht and everybody was out on their feet. Both players wanted to stay and play here at that point and would have signed new deals. Given LH/LF didn't like McClaren anyway, didn't appoint him, and knew he was going to be fired shortly, and that they both liked BOS and RM, they should have backed their own judgement and renewed them anyway. When they finally got round to it both were playing well and attracting interest we couldn't keep up with. Can't blame either of them for that. Austin another one we could and should have renewed when we won promotion. When you've got relegated and he's just scored 20 goals in the top flight is not the time to be trying to do him a new deal. We are poor, as a club, at timing our contract renewals and managing our retainment. I think there's a bit of needle around Manning because a) he's done the same thing again since, and is very money orientated even for a footballer, b) is a bit of an arsehole generally, and c) when the club were trying to negotiate wage deferrals etc during Covid he was, shall we say, less than forthcoming. |

Hogan Ephraim said this in our Patreon interview with him. There was a perception around him that he wouldn't leave London, and so nobody bothered enquiring. Ended up going to Leeds on loan for a bit just to prove it was bolox. |

And for what? Norwich 11th, Blackburn 7th but falling fast as they always do this time of year. That'll be 12th v 13th by the time it's played. I wonder if having guaranteed every team will be shown 20 times they're now thrashing about showing games they don't even really want to show themselves, causing great hassle to idiot scum like us on the way. I find this TV deal utterly perverse. |

They're also meant to be keen on Harry Darling at Swansea. |

Well, for the two reasons I've given. |

We're midtable and he's out of contract. If we were fourth bottom then fair enough but we're not. |

Well that's just it isn't it. If we flog him to Sheff Utd for £2m then it's pretty clear he wasn't going to sign, otherwise we wouldn't do it. |

"he bought Santos..." Hmmmm. I think we only ended up with Ashby because Cifuentes took one look at Santos and said "da fck is this?". |

Wilder's comments in the last week have said it all. After they lost to Hull on Friday he said in his Sky interview it was inevitable, been coming, should have happened in the previous two home games because "look at the team we're putting out, we're on the bones of our ars, desperately need reinforcements". They made a quadruple sub in the second half adding Tyrese Campbell, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, Vinicius Silva and Rhian Brewster to their attack. We're going through a season with Michi Frey, Zan Celar and two kids as our forwards. Then this morning... But they are light at the back after losing loan star Harry Souttar to a season-ending Achilles’ injury, leaving Anel Ahmedhodzic and Jack Robinson as the Blades’ only fit and senior centre-halves. They have players who can cover in a crisis, including youngster Jamal Baptiste, Alfie Gilchrist and Rhys Norrington-Davies. That's Chelsea's Alfie Gilchrist there, stolen from our academy, described as a "youngster" who can "cover" in an emergency. Already signed Harry Clarke from Ipswich this week.

Well he's out of contract, if somebody's offering £2m you probably have to do that. The question is was he always minded not to sign here. He's 27, running out of chances for a big move and big deal, we know our limitations, was he always eyeing this free transfer and there's not a lot we could do other than offer and hope? I.e. Ryan Manning situation. Or was he quite happy to stay, and would have signed at multiple points over the last few years, but we've pisballed about with it and are only now belatedly trying to get him to sign when he's in red hot form and getting interest from clubs that can offer a lot more than us? I.e. Bright Osayi-Samuel. |
