Very lightweight all round. Where has Alfie Lloyd gone ?, who I would really like to see up front. Going to be a long hard winter if we have to watch the dross being served up at the moment, the performances are becoming more abject game by game to be honest.

At the moment they all do my head in, except Frey who is trying his best. Really poor show today nothing happening other than 3 easy points for Derby.

Poor again today, absolutely nothing positive against an average Derby side. Appalling defending from a corner allowing a free header from about 18 yards out, schoolboy stuff.

Home Form Is Awful
at 21:06 3 Oct 2024

My original post from 6 months ago and yes I love the Rangers and have done since my Dad took me there in 1973 as a 10 year old supporting the Arsenal who lost to QPR 2-0 and he spent the next two years converting me to be a QPR supporter, of which I have been for 49 years. Now the point is we were always a great home team but have slipped on that front in last few years and until we can get that connection again we will struggle.

Field on Hull
at 12:04 2 Oct 2024

Agree, Marti really dropped one leaving Santos to cope with Miller, who for me watching from the upper loft was the stand out player on the pitch. Time to ditch Santos in right back role and give Ashby a go. I also think we need to try out Alfie Lloyd in a central striking position playing off Frey if possible. Celar well off this level at the moment and looks a bit lost. The worrying thing is he is at the moment like the other Slovenian striker Mlakaar we had from Brighton on loan a few seasons ago who failed to make an impact. Trouble is Celar is permanent and we need him to come good, otherwise stuck with a bit of a dud. Was Frey injured so that is why Celar got a full 2nd half?

Good to get him on a permanent deal, expect he will push on now.

Varane’s red sets Rangers on road to Rovers ruin – Report
at 10:33 30 Sep 2024

On the nail Clive. I feel for Frey he is doing a sterling job up front without any support. I would put Lloyd alongside him and see if they can open it up a bit. I think we have a real prospect in Alfie Lloyd, he has pace, is strong and needs to be given an opportunity to see if they can forge something. For me at the moment jury is out on Celar, not sure if it is a confidence thing, settling into English football or he is just not up to it.

Is Eustace a better manager than Cifuentes?
at 15:09 29 Sep 2024

Eustace is a decent manager, Cifuentes is a decent manager. Still think this season we are finding our feet, it started to click at Luton but the damn international break I think has hampered us a bit and any momentum we would have got sort of stopped. Still believe that at home we have been far too passive and not loading the attack and hence drawing games. To be honest we did not collapse yesterday and could have nicked a goal. Need a win at home on Tuesday and expect that Marti will mix it up a bit to take the game to Hull. I would like to see Lloyd starting in place of Smyth and try and play off Frey. Our biggest problem is getting the ball through the centre of midfield quickly enough as we get stuck in this me to you, you to me playing across the back line and allowing the oppo to get nicely set up. Need to see more of Madsen trying to link up through the middle and taking the game forward, rather than in Millwall game where he seemed to be hugging the left side a lot.

The no ones bothered Blackburn match thingy
at 15:30 28 Sep 2024

Regardless of the sending off, Frey is virtually having to do everything at the top end of the pitch. Personally would like to see him and Alfie Lloyd as a front two. I didn't like the look of our front line today far too lightweight with Saito, Dembele and Smyth. Dembele off his game today never got into it. Smyth is not a starter for me, would prefer Lloyd who is bigger and stronger. Passing in the team as a whole is poor. Lucky to get away with a 2-0 defeat, Varane looks a liability at the moment and so it proved.

Stupid tackle but a red looked harsh. Scrappy match, but backs to the wall now with 10 men. Smyth missed a sitter as usual after 5 mins.

Pep on the EFL Cup
at 14:04 25 Sep 2024

Think the EFL and FA cup need a total revamp, trouble is they seem to be totally over reliant on major sponsorship and the hope that the big boy premier teams show some interest in the cups, which they don't really appear to do they!
The EFL cup is in need of a major revamp they have ditched extra time and gone straight to penalties, but it is still a competition dying on its feet and seems just a pain to the Prem and Championship teams until possibly the later stages. I suppose the question ito ask, is the EFL cup needed, if the product is no longer fit for purpose?

Deafened by Speakers in Upper Loft

Sent an email to Support Services saying that the speakers in JU of the Upper Loft are unbearably loud, especially on Saturday against Millwall. They have responded to say it will be looked into.

A poor game, we are back to the old me to you, you to me in the back line which just slows us down. The only time we really stopped this was the equaliser from Frey, three passes and bang a goal. Personally thought Millwall probably deserved the 3 points and they would be disappointed they could not get the winner. On the plus side we are hard to beat and Frey is doing well up front, worked his socks off again, thought he was our best player.

The midfield hole
at 19:04 21 Sep 2024

Madsen seemed totally out of position to me, hugging left when we needed something in the middle where Field struggled to get hold of anything. Thought Paal in midfield in first half was a mistake and affected Madsen as he pushed left too much. Still need someone who can pick the ball off Cook and JCS as we were playing far too much you to me, me to you stuff and so slow allowing Millwall to set up nicely, who I thought by the way played some decent football and would have gone away disappointed that they did not win this one, but we are proving hard to beat, which is a plus.

I would say just a poor game from him today, not sure that him and Dembele fit together. Think he might still be recovering from the injury up at Sheff Utd, but no excuses he was well off it. Dembele also out of sorts as well. Frey was very good today seemed to be working his socks off all game, getting goals as well.

Genius Eze inevitably wraps return narrative – Report
at 09:21 19 Sep 2024

Quite correct Clive what is the point of being a top level football club if you don't really go for it whatever the competition. Thought we played well especially 2nd half, although you could tell Palace were playing in low gears. I really like Alfie Lloyd personally feel he may turn out to be a bigger prospect (watch this space) than Kolli.

Celar
at 22:14 18 Sep 2024

Think he is still adjusting to English football, if he can nick a goal even coming off the bench then his confidence will probably improve. Not that worried at the moment, as Frey seems to be first choice, but probably needs to get off the mark from the bench and to that end not seen this so far. I have been impressed with Alfie Lloyd reckon he could do a job as replacement centre forward when Frey gets taken off, he is strong and last night nearly got us back in it in last couple of minutes.

So many positives - yet a meltdown on here - dose of reality please
at 11:00 18 Sep 2024

I thought we held up pretty well last night and got ourselves back in it against a Palace team who basically had their big guns up front in Eze, Mateta and Nkiete. Eze was class as usual, thought we looked much better when Dembele came on but some strong performances, Varane looked more comfortable and Madsen getting more assured in his role. Nice to see Field score. I do think Marti should put Alfie Lloyd up as a central striker he is making great progress and showing more impact than Celar, who is still looking a bit lost in English football at the moment. I take away we are improving nicely.

At the moment Frey is the main man, Celar looks a bit lost at this level at the moment. We have to give him time so far a bit underwhelming, may come good hopefully.
