| Forum Thread | UB40 at Hammersmith Apollo last night at 08:26 4 Dec 2024
I was taking a class at the Irish centre last night and we went for an end of term drink. When we were leaving, the pub and the streets were full of people who had been to UB40, and they were really unhappy. A couple of women stopped us to vent at how frustrating and disappointed they were, apparently sparing with the hits and generally grumpy and lacklustre. Anyone here go? I’ve not seen a street reaction like that since Rainbow fans broke windows in Wembley about 1980! |
| Forum Thread | Hammersmith Apollo ticket help at 19:46 10 Sep 2024
Evening all, I was hoping to benefit from the collective wisdom of the board. I was due to make my first visit to the Apollo in many decades on Saturday but I’m going to Ireland instead and have two tickets I can’t use. I don’t want to make money out of it, I’d be delighted to get face value back. They are for stalls standing-this area is completely sold out and there only appear to be a couple of dozen circle tickets left. I bought through EventimUK and they haven’t sent me any digital tickets yet, so even if I wanted to tout them on Stubhub etc, I don’t have anything. Eventim say I can offer them on their own fan exchange at face value, but the facility to list them, which they claim should be automatic isn’t there yet - perhaps because it’s not yet sold out. Ironically, they said I could list a paper ticket if I had one, but for postal reasons it would have to close any sale today. Any advice? Can I list the promise of a digital ticket online and then send it over when it comes? When do EventimUK release digital pass tickets in advance? Any other suggestions? By the way, it’s Blackberry Smoke, Southern big-band country/blues. Not my usual, but I saw them last year because I had heard one song by their support band on a playlist and I was on a post Covid live music binge. They put on a great show, great sound and really worked the audience. They must be a bit of a cult following, very diverse group, bikers to school mums night out. Any interest? |

Varane looked exceptionally sharp and decisive when he came on, he was right on the pace of the game. But of a distance to… Alfie Lloyd looked like he meant business, he was much stronger looking than I expected from old video too. Daniel Bennie had a Devon White air of chaos on legs and may be the scruffiest looking player ever to wear the hoops. |

I know there’s been another thread, but worth bringing to general attention to any neutrals. Should be a lot of fun for anyone not called Brian McCarthy or CLAREMAN. 3.30 throw-in. [Post edited 21 Jul 14:16]

I was offered a ticket to a music festival tomorrow night a few months ago, and snapped it up without thinking of the fixtures. I’ve wanted to go for years and tickets are otherwise impossible to get hold of, so I’m not torn at all. Roll on August 10th! |

According to an article (paywalled) in today's FT: https://www.ft.com/content/d747554e-cd5f-44f1-ac11-8b3f077c0f6c Ligue 1 and 2 clubs lost €1.05bn in the 2022/23 season on revenue of €2.7bn. Net Transfer Fees cut losses to €300mn. Since then, Messi and Mbappe have left the league (without fees) and they have no broadcast contract, ten weeks before the start of the new season, after finding no bidders at their reserve price of e800m pa. And 15% of the league now belongs to private equity (CVC). |

The prestigious title of “Second Worst Team in SuperLeague” is up for grabs on Sunday at Plough Lane for the visit of Hull FC to London Broncos. Anyone going (apart from the obvious)? I’ve been sent an offer of a £5 ticket, which seems about right, though many times more enticing than Eurovision. |

Ludicrously early start has caught us out again, but so far so good for me as: 1) Tipp hurlers haven't played anyone yet 2) Both Cork teams have Can't see past the two champions, though even a Kilkenny win might be welcome by now and someone from Ulster must have a chance in the football. Any more expert opinions here? |
